The show, which features Mark Valley (Fringe and the under-appreciated Keen Eddie), Tricia Helfer (BSG), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) and Chi McBride, centers on a bodygard named Chance who has a rather unique way of protecting his clients: he assumes their identities and becomes, in effect, the ‘human target’ to keep them safe.
Human Target, which is based on the DC comic created by Len Wein, Carmine Infantino and Dick Giordano, premieres in January. But in the meantime, take a look at one of the clips below. For the rest, head on over to Sci-Fi Wire.
After being dealt a moderate amount of criticism for Spider-Man 3, fans have been left wondering if director Sam Raimi was going to return to direct the franchises 4th installment. Fortunately, in a recent interview with SuperHeroHype, Raimi seems very excited to get back to work with our favorite, web-slinging hero!
With playwright David Lindsay-Abaire working on the screenplay (“He should be done with his script in about four weeks, I think”, says Raimi in the article), Spider-Man 4 is currently slated for a May 6, 2011 release date. In the interview, Raimi took time to address the reviews Spider-Man 3 received, ”I simply am an entertainer and I make films for audience appreciation. When they don’t like it, I don’t have a leg to stand on.”
Raimi also plans on delving deeper into the character of everyman turned superhero, Peter Parker. “I only wanted to do it with Tobey because my interest is in living the character with Tobey in a deeper way than we ever have lived it before. There comes with the familiarity a knowledge of a lot of the basics. I think it’s really going to allow us to delve deeply into him as a human being, which is really why I’m into it this time.”
Sam Raimi’s current project, the highly anticipated horror film Drag Me To Hell, comes out next week on May 29th.
In a recent interview with the LA Times, the legend of Blues, comedy and ‘busting ghosts’, Dan Aykroyd, updated the fans on the developments of a third Ghostbusters film, which has been on hold for quite some time, mostly due to Bill Murray’s prior reluctance to return to the franchise.
“I don’t put not making the third movie on Billy,” said Aykroyd in the interview. “We can’t do that. I’ve been very busy. Harold’s been busy, Ivan’s been busy. And a third script really didn’t coalesce properly. And Billy, you can’t blame an artist for not wanting to do the same thing again. He did two of them, for God’s sake.”
Aykroyd went on to defend Murray further and elaborate a bit more on when he feels the film may come together and start production. According to the actor: ”Although I’m the biggest cheerleader as the originator of the concept but I’ve never begrudged Billy not doing a third movie. I never said he held it up or that he refused. I’m sorry he never read my third draft because I thought it was pretty good but, look, now we’re at a point that there’s a story that he can accept and that’s going to work, and I think we’re going to be in production fairly soon. We could be in production by winter.”
With Quinten Tarantino’s newest journey into the world of “instant cult classics” making it’s way to Cannes and getting some mixed reviews, the promotions machine for Basterds is kicking it into high gear. Their brand new website (with a very catchy background theme) went live earlier this week, and now three clips of the film have hit the net.
The first is a dialog between Colonel Hans Landa and Frederick Zoller (Christopher Waltz and Dan Brhl, respectively) in which Landa discusses his feeling on members of the Jewish faith.
We have some downtime around The Flickcast offices every once in awhile (especially when we’re having server issues). When these times do happen, we’ve got to find something else to occupy our time until we can get back to posting.
One of the ways we like to fill that downtime is by playing some cool video games. Sometimes, we even get to play ones not available to everyone. We also get sneak peeks at new games as well — and that’s the case now. This time, we’re pretty excited about a new racing game called Blur recently announced by creator Bizarre Creations and published by Activision.
In a nutshell, Blur is a high-octane racing game where you, you know, race . . . and try not to get killed in the process. Check out these brand new screens from the game to see what I mean. It looks pretty cool to me and I can’t wait to see more.
In case you weren’t around back in 1983 when the original V was broadcast on television, here’s a little background. The show concerned alien invaders that come to earth to, well, invade and take over our planet. A small group of humans, with the help of a few aliens who don’t like what their race is doing, chooses to rebel and fight against their alien overlords. The show debuted as a well-received mini-series and then went on to a rather short-lived regular series, lasting only one season.
Now, V is back on ABC with an all new, sleeker look and some familiar cast members from some of our favorite tv shows including Joel Gretsch from The 4400, Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost and Morena Baccarin (sporting some sexy short hair) and Alan Tudyk from Firefly. Sadly, there’s no sign of Robert Englund — at least so far.
The new series debuts in the Fall on ABC. Until then, check out the trailer.
In addition to all the other things we love including movies, tv, comics and other geeky goodness, we also love video games around here. Fortunately, the video game business is booming and there’s always some great games coming down the pipeline for us to see, experience and, most importantly, play. One of those cool games hitting stores soon is the sequel to one of my personal favorite games Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
This time around, Activision and Vicarious Visions have teemed up to produce Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 which follows the same basic tenents of the first game and follows Marvel’s Civil War story arc. In the game, players will choose who they want to be and take up their cause, fighting all along the way.
To demonstrate just how cool this game is going to be, Activision has released another video from the game featuring the character Deadpool. And yes, it looks pretty awesome. The game drops in the Fall. Meantime, check out the video because, well, it rocks.
Sure, you could wait until this Friday to see Terminator: Salvation, the latest film in the Terminator saga. You could also ignore the other clips and bits of info we’ve shown you in the past about the film and just go in cold. But really, what fun would that be?
Instead, why not take a look at another clip from the film, courtesy of MTV’s Movie’s Blog, featuring Sam Worthinton and Star Trek’s Anton Yelchin as Marcus Wright and the young Kyle Reese.
This clips has a bit of cool Terminator action as well as a line of dialog you may be familiar with — that is if you’ve ever seen any other Terminator films. Of course, if you haven’t seen any other Terminator films, you’re probably not reading this right now. For better or worse, Terminator: Salvation opens this Friday. Meantime, enjoy this clip. . . or not.
In the 1986 animated classic, Transformers: The Movie, guitarist and songwriter Stan Bush gave us the musical classics known as “Dare” and ”The Touch“. Apparently, Bush also submitted tracks for director Michael Bay’s 2007 live-action Transformers film but was told by the filmmakers that they weren’t interested.
This time around, and in hopes of landing a spot on the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack, Bush has recorded an updated version of “The Touch”, dubbing it “Sam’s Theme” — obviously referring to Shia Lebouf’s character, Sam Witwicky. But that’s not all.
He’s also put together a music video as well to help sell the idea to Bay and company. On May 14th, this version hit YouTube and received, shall we say, a less than stellar reception from fans. Undeterred, Bush posted a re-edit 2 days later and included more footage from the the live-action Transformers films.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hits theaters on June 24th. Until then, check out this video featuring a guy you have to admire for not taking “no” for an answer.
Previously on The Flickcast, Chris, Matt and Christina talked about all-things Star Trek, Terminator: Salvation, casting news and took it home with some great picks like Smallville, Five Dollar Cover and Donnie Darko.
This week, the team takes on new topics like the exciting new Fox TV schedule, the renewal of some their favorite shows like Dollhouse, Fringe and Chuck, the fate of shows like Scrubs, Better Off Ted and ‘Til Death andhow many of these returning shows will deal with having reduced budgets and casting conflicts next season. Plus, the team also talks cool casting news from the worlds of Thor, Red Dawn, the A-Team and a whole lot more!
Plus, they make some great picks including Chris’ favorite “Teens repel Russian Invaders” movie Red Dawn, Christina’s new favorite Fox TV show So You Think You Can Dance and Matt’s pick, the movie that reminds you just how disappointing The Phantom Menace was: Fanboys.

These days its sometimes hard finding good comics to read every week and even harder finding the money to pay for all of them. There are a lot of comics coming out each week but fortunately, we here at The Flickcast care about what you read and what you spend your money on. So, with that in mind, there’s a lighter load of comics this week from a superhero mayor of New York City, to a jerk from the future to gigantic fighting robots.
My first recommendation this week is Ex Machina #42, written by Lost writer/producer Brian K. Vaughan and drawn by the brilliant Tony Harris (Starman). Easily my favorite book on the stands now, it tells the story of Mitchell Hundred the first super-hero known as the Great Machine who can get machines to do anything he wants.
After 9/11, Hundred decides he’s merely maintaining the status quo as a superhero and decides to reveal his identity on national television and declare his candidacy for Mayor of New York City. Of course, he wins, and this comic is about his time in office.
Part West Wing and part super-hero action, with only eight issues left, I can’t wait to see how this story concludes.
My second recommendation is X-Men Origins: Wolverine producer and friend of The Flickcast Jeff Katz’s book Booster Goldis a high flying adventure telling the story of the 25th Century football star who travels back in time to fill his large ego. Co-written with Flash: Rebirth star Geoff Johns the trade paperback, out tomorrow, is a classic fun adventure comic where Booster must act exactly as he normally does, like a dick, in order restore the timeline.
Also, but probably inadvertently, he causes the creation of the Sinestro Corps. They don’t make comics this fun anymore.
My third and final recommendation is Rick Remender and Eric Nguyen’s comic Gigantic. Which is part Japanese Giant Robot vs Giant Monster Battle Royale and part Mojo-verse storyline from old 80′s X-Men comics.
To be honest, I don’t know what to make of this comic besides saying “You remember this guy: Ultraman?” Yeah, its kinda like that, except not cheezy.
If these comic recommendations don’t suit your fancy, be sure to check out the excellent Midtown Comics list and order there. They will even mail your comics right to your door.
My former colleagues over at Cinematical have gotten their hands on the brand new, first ever, teaser poster for Summit Entertainment’s upcoming sequel to the tween vampire drama Twilight. The new film, called The Twilight Saga: New Moon, picks up pretty much were the first film left off and continues the story of Bella (Kristen Stewart), her vampire boyfriend Edward (Robert Pattinson) and their tumultuous relationship amidst the trials and tribulations of high school and all that entails.
Sadly, in this new film Bella and Edward are having some problems (him being a vampire and all) so in an effort to get some time to think, Edward has taken off for a bit for “me” time leaving Bella all alone. Naturally, as often happens, Bella decides its not so fun to be alone and begins to find comfort in the arms of another guy, Jacob Black. Of course, in true Twilight doomed tween romance fashion, Jacob isn’t “just” another guy, he’s actually a werewolf and an enemy of the vampires. Which, of course, will cause all kinds of problems once Edward returns.
Geez, you thought your life was complicated, right? What will happen and who will be left standing will all be revealed when the film opens on Novermber 20th. Until then, check out a larger version of the poster after the jump.
