If you’ve been dreaming of a new Lara Croft movie and that Megan Fox will take over the role made famous by Angelina Jolie, then you’re not going to be very happy with this post. Still, this post does contain info about both subjects, which obviously you’re fond of if you’ve been having the above mentioned dreams, so read on.

According to a recent interview with the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star, Fox is not interested in taking on the role of Lara Croft in a Tomb Raider reboot nor has anyone even offered her the role. Speaking after a press conference for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen last week in Beverly Hills, Calif. Fox told a cluster of reporters that it’s a complete rumor. No one has offered her the role of Lara Croft or even spoken to her about it.

Not only that, but even if they did, she wouldn’t be interested anyway. “I think that’s a role that Angelina Jolie mastered, and I would never attempt to take that over from her,” Fox said.

Of course, in Hollywood that could also mean that people are talking with her about it and she is considering it but just playing hard to get. That’s just the way things work sometimes. So, don’t give up hope just yet. You might still end up seeing Fox doing backflips, firing two giant guns while wearing skimpy shorts and a clingy tank top. Its Hollywood, dreams sometime do come true.

In case you’ve been away, unable to get on the Internet or watch tv, Apple released an update to its flagship smartphone on Friday and more people decided to get one than “those in the know” originally thought. According to our favorite Apple site TUAW, sales of the iPhone 3GS may exceed the 500 K units as predicted by tech pundit Gene Munster, senior analyst at Piper Jaffray.

His research firm had originally predicted the 500 K number of units sold this weekend but now believes that figure is “conservative” based on early results. Between AT&T’s citing of ‘hundreds of thousands’ of pre-orders for the device, and Britain’s O2 announcing that first-day sales for the 3GS went past the totals for the 3G last year, it’s possible that the 3G S could meet or exceed the magic million units sold mark.

Of course, as in years past, AT&T wasn’t able to handle the number of users trying to activate their new iPhones all at the same time, which triggered delays for many users. Many new buyers ended up waiting several hours for activations to complete or were forced to call AT&T customer service and have their activations pushed through by a rep.

In recognition of the aggravation and inconvenience, Apple has begun emailing affected users with the offer of a $30 iTunes credit to be delivered Monday morning. So, if you ended up having to wait several hours for your iPhone 3G S to be activated, you may be getting something from Apple in your email pretty soon.

Updated: Well, it turns out Munster was way off. How much? Well, according to a press release issued by Apple, sales of the new iPhone 3GS topped one million units over the weekend, double what Munster predicted.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, downloads of Apple’s new 3.0 OS for the iPhone and iPod Touch exceeded six million and the press release even got a quote from Steve Jobs himself, further fueling speculation that Jobs is on the mend and returning to work later this year. Not bad for a weekend.

In keeping up with our nightmares for the past 30 years, new pictures have been released from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Since it is Burton, it’s no surprise that these images look incredibly disturbing and will probably haunt us for a time after we look away.

If you’re a fan of video games, big televisions and general awesomeness then this video is for you. Why? Well, it depicts one of the truly awesome experience you can have if you’re an avid gamer and have always wanted to really get your game on in a big, big way.

A tipster sent this in to Engadget showing a player using the enormendous 72 x 160-foot ‘LED wall’ at Dallas Cowboys Stadium to play some Gears of War. Later, video emerged of said player engaged in a bit of Halo and showing off his XBox Gamers Score (which isn’t that much better than mine, btw).

Supposedly, the stadium was being set up for the Jonas Brothers’ June 20th concert and the person taking advantage of this rather unique opportunity was the group’s video director Steve Fatone. Its a cool video and shows what some people will do when given the chance. But really, can you blame him? I would do it in a second.

As I’ve probably mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Kurt Sutter’s FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Its a gritty drama about a gang of outlaw bikers who struggle to cling to their way of life, keep their families together and make a living, albeit a dishonest one, in the town of Charming, CA. I can honestly say its one of my favorite shows on tv today. The first season did well and Season Two is currently filming and will premiere in September.

Previously, Sutter had posted some pictures on his blog from the new season. These pictures depicted scenes from the show being and the cast and crew at work as Season Two takes shape. They also showcase some of my favorite actors from the show including Charlie Hunnam, Ryan Hurst, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior and Ron Perlman.

This time around, Sutter is back with more pics and as before, they show filming in progress, more behind the scenes glimpses of the cast at work and more shots of some of the show’s great characters. If you haven’t yet checked out Sons of Anarchy, you still have time. Season One is on DVD now so you can watch it and Season Two doesn’t premiere until September. So, you have plenty of time. What are you waiting for?

With it being Father’s Day, it gives us a time to reflect on our relationships with our fathers, our grandfathers and our own children. It also gives us the chance to look back at the varied father child relationships we have enjoyed in our favorite comics over the years. Here’s some of our favorites.

Best Job Saving His Son From Certain Doom – Jor-El (Superman)

The planet Krypton was about to be destroyed and one scientist saved his only infant son by sending him in a rocket to a safe place. That infant turned out to be Superman who was adopted and raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. But if not for the quick thinking of Jor-El, the scientist who chose to save his son before his own life, the Man of Steel may never have been. Some might argue that since Jor-El knew his world was coming to an end, he probably should have built a ship big enough to save his entire family. But hindsight is usually 20/20 and it probably seemed like a good idea to focus on just saving his child at the time.

Did a Pretty Good Job Raising an Alien – Jonathan Kent (Superman)

Jonathan Kent and his wife Martha dealt with two of the scariest things a person could encounter at the same time. First, they had an alien spaceship fall out of the sky in to their own backyard. After discovering the alien inside wasn’t some grotesque creature that would eat them and destroy their world, they became the adopted parents of the child and raised him like their own. Not many adopted fathers have such a good relationship with their son, especially when that son comes from an entirely different planet. But Jonathan Kent must have done something right since his son turned out to be one of the greatest superheroes the world have ever known, saving it time and time again.

One of the great things about the Internets is you often find lots of creative people with time on their hands. Some of them even have talent. In those cases, we are often lucky enough to get some great videos put together and then shared with the online world at large. This is one of those cases.

In this very clever video by RebelliousPixels, Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer at Sunnydale High. According to the folks that made this video: “It’s an example of transformative storytelling serving as a visual critique of Edward’s character and generally creepy behavior. Seen through Buffy’s eyes some of the more patriarchal gender roles and sexist Hollywood tropes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed in hilarious ways.”

Over at LA Times resident Battlestar Galactica supefan Geoff Boucher’s blog Hero Complex, he’s posted a new trailer for the upcoming BSG prequel movie The Plan. And being the cool guy that he is, he’s allowing us to post the video here for your viewing enjoyment.

This new trailer gives us a bit more insight into what’s going to happen in The Plan and allows us to imagine what the show will be like based on what we’re not seeing. This is the same trailer I was lucky enough to see during the recent BSG/UN event in Los Angeles and now, thanks to the kind folks at Sci-Fi and Boucher, you can see it as well.

We love William Shatner here at The Flickcast. For some of us, he was our first exposure to Star Trek and helped us discover a love for Sci-Fi that endures to this day. He will always be the first Captain of the Enterprise to us. Of course, he’s gone on to play many other roles from a cop in T.J. Hooker to his multi-Emmy winning role as Denny Crane in Boston Legal. He’s also an accomplished author and talk show host.

Over the years he’s entertained us and showed us what a versatile guy he really is. And in spite of his occasionally stylized acting, he’s always managed to make us interested and keep us watching no matter what he does. Most recently, Shatner made an appearance on The Tonight Show to help celebrate Conan O’Brian taking over from Jay Leno. And of course, we have video.

I’ll say this about William Shatner: he’s never boring — even when he’s talking about camping. Check out the video after the break.

Well, the new iPhone 3G S just arrived at The Flickcast offices and we’re eagerly putting it through its paces. So far, we’ve had a chance to test a few things out and here’s what we think after playing around with it for a few minutes:

* The interface is definitely more responsive. Applications launch faster and close faster. Email, Text, Camera, all pop up and are able to be used faster. In short, the iPhone 3G S is, so far, living up to its “S for Speed” moniker.

* The iPhone 3G S is a bit lighter. In our side by side comparison the new iPhone 3G S feels a bit lighter and also looks a tiny bit narrower than the previous gen 3G iPhone.

* We love the new camera and video capabilities. In fact, here’s a short video that Chris shot of one of our favorite Apple sites TUAW. It looks pretty darn good, even after being encoded again by the host.

We can all face it, the world of zombie movies isn’t what it used to be. The living dead have gone from being feared in such films like George A. Romero’s original Dawn of the Dead to things like Shaun of the Dead and Fido. The concept of slow-moving, groaning zombies doesn’t scare a modern audience anymore, so why not embrace the camp and make it a comedy? Zombieland seems to be doing that.

Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, (who’s claim-to-fame is creating the reality-tv parody The Joe Shmoe Show) and directed by Ruben Fleischer (who directed 3 episodes of The Jimmy Kimmel Show), the film focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland) is Columbus, the big coward of the group – but when you’re afraid of being eaten by the walking dead, fear can keep you alive.

Woody Harrelson is Tallahassee, the quintessential bad ass hero whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. They join forces with Emma Stone’s (Superbad) Wichita and Abigail Breslin’s (Little Miss Sunshine) Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem. The film looks to be a good amount of fun at the expense of the zombie nation, while possibly having some room for horror as well.

Unfortunately, you shouldn’t expect this movie to break the box office, as it opens in October, which is the worst time of the year for films. Either way, it should be a bloody good time. Check out the trailer after the jump.

They say that getting to Carnegie Hall just takes “Practice, practice, practice”, and writer/director Kevin Smith certainly has had practice. Over the years in between making his films, writing comic books, and directing tv shows like Reaper, he’s toured to colleges around the country and has created three Evening with Kevin Smith DVDs. Wednesday night at Carnegie Hall may have seemed different to the naked eye–a sold out show in one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world–but it was just as laid back, hilariously dirty, and raunchy as anything Smith’s done before.

I was lucky enough to attend the performance, a three hour laugh fest that revealed some of Smith’s most embarrassing, but also most touching moments. If you’ve never seen Kevin Smith live, there’s a basic format: fans line up to ask questions, and Smith answers them as honestly and openly as you’d expect. Since this show was a bit bigger than usual (the show sold out all of its 2,000 tickets), fans submitted their questions beforehand and were drawn from a lottery. Sometimes these questions take a few minutes to answer, or a few hours.
