Since Battlestar Galactica ended, fans of that world and characters have had to content themselves with watching the show on DVD or by watching the BSG prequel show Caprica. That show started strong but then floundered for a time finally hitting its stride over the last few weeks with some truly excellent episodes. Obviously, the quality of these recent episodes has paid off as the rating for the show have improved as well.

Now, the mid-season finale is upon us and to give you an idea of what’s going to happen, the folks at Syfy have sent us a little preview. Of course, we’re going to share it with you. Here’s what to expect from tonight’s episode, entitled “End of Line”, directly from Syfy:

Daniel (Eric Stoltz) finally sets a deadline for resetting the U-87 Cylon – and unknowingly ending Zoe-A’s (Alessandra Torresani) existence as she knows it – she makes a desperate attempt to save herself. But when her plan backfires, she finds herself out of time and out of options. Furious with a recent comeuppance, Barnabas (James Marsters) ignites his feud with Clarice (Polly Walker) into an all-out war. Trapped in the middle is Lacy (Magda Apanowicz), who is forced to make a decision she may regret forever. Daniel makes a confession to an already reeling Amanda (Paula Malcomson) that sends her over the edge.

That’s right. It’s here. The first ever parody trailer about one of the most popular parody songwriters ever. Granted, we were all a bit let down when we realized that this trailer wasn’t real (the fact that it was on funnyordie.com was our first clue), but that doesn’t mean that it still isn’t pretty brilliant.

In a time where Hollywood is picking up the rights for “The Joan Jett Story”, why wouldn’t they want to do a heartfelt biopic about America’s weirdest folk musician? Walk Hard may have already covered most of the ground, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still room for another.

Chloe has a spectacular pedigree. Directed by Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter), the film boasts Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson, and Amanda Seyfried as a trio of characters whose lives become deliberately intertwined. Too bad, because after a promising set up, the film devolves into a cliché psychological thriller.

It ultimately culminates in a tacky ending that is better suited to a cheap slasher flick. I suppose if I had to summarize my thoughts on the movie in one word, I would say it is misguided.

Julianne Moore plays Catherine, a successful gynecologist with a teen aged son about to leave for college and a college professor husband. Faced with increasing emotional distance from her son, and suspecting her husband of having an affair, Catherine appears to be experiencing a mid-life cycle of sorts.

She befriends a high class escort named Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) and hires her to find out if her husband will cheat on her. It is evident that there is a sexual undercurrent between the two women.

Last fall, Spike TV offered an interesting new program that piqued the interest of college students and the general male population: who would win in a fight between a pirate and a ninja? That program led to a highly successful season of Deadliest Warrior for the network, and now they’re gearing up for a second season, with even more “what if?” scenarios.

On April 20th, Deadliest Warrior returns with all new episodes and matchups including Attila the Hun vs. Alexander the Great, Aztec Jaguar vs. Zande Warrior, Jesse James Gang vs. Al Capone Gang, Persian Immortal vs. Celt, Roman Centurion vs. India’s Rajput Warrior, Somali Pirate vs. Medellin Cartel, Nazi SS vs. Viet Cong, KGB vs. CIA, Vlad the Impaler vs. Sun Tzu, Ming Warrior vs. Musketeer, Comanche vs. Mongol and Navy Seal vs. Israeli Commando.

Even though Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and The United States of Tara have recently had their new season premieres, the network must be so impressed that they’ve already given the green light to another new season for both shows. The pickups come after both shows returned strong for their second debuts in the ratings.

Nurse Jackie had it’s most-watched episode ever with Tara close behind. All of which must have impressed Showtime execs very much indeed. In fact, here’s what they said about the shows, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

“Showtime is enormously proud of these two series starring two of the best actresses working today,” said Robert Greenblatt, president of entertainment, Showtime. “Both are iconic shows for our brand and our thanks to the dedicated producers, cast, and crews who work so hard to make them so great. Edie Falco’s portrayal of the fierce ‘Jackie’ is another extraordinary example of her range and brilliance, and recent Emmy and Golden Globe wins for Toni Collette in her tour de force role as a woman with multiple personalities put her in a class by herself. Strong women will continue to rule on this network for a long time to come.”

Well, there you have it. A network that rewards quality and stands by its shows is nice to see. Maybe Joss Whedon should do a show for Showtime?

It’s Thursday so that means new episodes of some of our favorite comedies are back on NBC. From 30 Rock to Community to The Office, these shows bring the funny and are a welcome break and a great way to spend a Thursday night.

To get you ready for tonight’s shows, our friends at NBC have sent us some videos from each of the four comedies that make up the Thursday night lineup. First off is Community where you can get the scoop from Ken Jeong as he explains how him and Joel McHale are rivals after the “battle of the nudity!” Next on Parks and Rec, two deleted scenes from last week’s episode are sure to get you ready for tonight.

For The Office, we’ve got your first chance to watch the new opening credits which now rightly include the awesome Ed Helms. Finally, on 30 Rock, does Tracy Jordan really have a career in politics ahead of him? Find out as he answers fan mail in this very funny clip.

Chris Farina’s World Peace…and Other 4th Grade Achievements is one of the more fascinating documentaries you will ever see. Over the course of eight weeks, students in 4th-grade teacher John Hunter’s Charlottesville, Virginia class take on the roles of nation leaders, UN representatives, the World Bank, tribal chieftans who negotiate the trade rights to their resource-rich lands, arms dealers, and even a weather goddess in a comprehensive game designed to promote discussion, foster negotiation skills, and, of course, ultimately achieve world peace.

With each child’s duty defined, Hunter then introduces a number of crises ranging from economic hardships to global warming to mercenary attacks to even a saboteur whom the students must unmask, put on trial, and prove guilty.

It may sound like too much to cover in the span of a one-hour running time, but Hunter explains the game with concision and clarity, and Farina maintains pace by breaking up the game’s progress into eight installments—one for each week it’s played. The structure is similar to that of a television series: Hunter summarizes his goals for each step and provides a narrative arc for the whole, while Farina follows the children around as they deal with each week’s crisis.

It’s startling how quick the children are to adopt their roles and the seriousness with which they play them. Perhaps less surprisingly, this often leads to violent arguments, such as the dispute between a tribal chieftan who grants land rights to one of the world leaders and is furious upon discovering that his friend has farmed the rights out to others.

Fans across the country are gearing up for the next chunk of Glee episodes to air on Fox. The show took a hiatus after it’s “Sectionals” episode back in December, so that the cast and crew could catch up, while also giving American Idol complete run of the network. Now that Idol is coming to a close soon enough, it’s time for the world of scripted musicals to shine again.

Last season brought in some great cameos such as Kristen Chenoweth and Josh Groban, but this second half is said to have names like Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Lambert, and many more to grace the screen. Not only is the second half of season one already packed with celebs, but there’s even going to be an entire episode dedicated to the song stylings of Madonna.

Even Jane Lynch’s “Sue Sylvester” is getting in the spirit with a new viral promo. Take a look at the newest TV spot, and what Sue has to say about “sneaky gays” after the jump. Be sure to catch all new episodes of Glee starting April 13th.

Perhaps it’s because I never really got into the Scott Pilgrim comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley or maybe it’s that I just don’t really care for Michael Cera, but I have to say my reaction to the brand new Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World teaser trailer is decidedly mixed. Sure, its got lots of action, drama, romance and some great looking visuals, which is good.

To be honest, I can’t quite put my finger on why I don’t love it. I should, seeing as I really like comics in general and movies in particular. So, it should follow that combining those two things should generate considerable interest. It just doesn’t in this case.

Maybe it’s the way director Edgar Wright decided to include comic book flourishes like the giant “thock” and “whup” when characters get hit. Or, perhaps it’s just that I don’t care for Michael Cera and have seen him play this part too many times the exact same way. Could be something to that.

No matter what my opinion is, feel free to judge for yourself and click through to check out the teaser. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, which features Cera in the title role along with Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Evans and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, hits theaters on August 13th.

Tom Cruise and company were all pretty quick to jump onto and set a release date for the upcoming fourth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise. The only problem was that the film had yet to sign a director. Who could possibly take the helm after sci-fi meganerd J.J. Abrams shared his vision in the last film. Well, according to THR, the studio’s number one choice is Incredibles director Brad Bird.

On the surface, Bird may seem a peculiar choice. The writer-director wrote and directed 1999′s “The Iron Giant” and 2004′s “The Incredibles” as well as 2007′s “Ratatouille” (the latter two earned Oscars for best animated picture), but he has never helmed a live-action feature.

On the other hand, nabbing Bird would be inspired. He is praised for his storytelling skills and is known for his strengths in staging thrilling and intricate action set-pieces as well as fusing the action with large dollops of heart and emotion.

Bird is just one name thrown into the hat along with others such as Edgar Wright and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer. Brad seems the be at least Cruise’s top pick in the list.

I’m going to come out and say I’ve got a geek crush on Sarah Silverman. Sure, she may not be what some people would think of as hot, but her combination of looks, brains and humor make for a deadly mix indeed — at least in my humble opinion. I just know she would be great to hang out with and obviously, her mind is probably right there in the gutter along with mine. What more could you ask for in a woman?

So, it is with great interest that I watch her tv series on Comedy Central, aka The Sarah Silverman Program. And now, we’ve got a little preview of tonight’s episode for you right here. In the preview, Sarah feels that Steve’s request to see a jam band puts a strain on their friendship. But then he plays the favor card and things go wrong from there.
