Last year, the UK got a taste of what it would be like if a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost all lived together in an apartment. Some of the smart folks at Syfy got wind of this and have decided to adapt the original series for us here in the states, bringing some Being Human for the very first time.
For those who don’t know, the series follows the lives of Aidan, a 200 year old vampire, Sally, a ghost who’s trapped in the house she was killed in, and Josh, a young man who was turned into a werewolf nearly 2 years ago. The three befriend each other and live together in a house hoping to move past their supernatural afflictions and cling to what little humanity they have left.
Aside from the new cast, one major element changed from the BBC series is the addition of the character Bishop, played by Mark Pellegrino, who most know as the mysterious Jacob from ABC’s Lost. Bishop’s role is explained, as well as the rest of the series, in the sneak peek after the jump.
Catch Syfy’s Being Human on Monday, January 17th at 9/8c.

SyFy’s Eureka and Warehouse 13 are filled to the brim with gizmos a plenty and government geniuses. Much like the perfect swirl at Pink Berry, when these two shows crossover they form the perfect blend of high tech adventures. So, when The Flickcast sat down with the energetic, witty, and down to earth Neil Grayston, we couldn’t help but inquire about his fictional and non-fictional cohort Allison Scagliotti.
Neil Grayston, who plays Douglas Fargo on Eureka, it seems is an international man of mystery. I say international because he is in fact from Canada, and mystery because who knew he used to be a wrestler and still keeps his black belt firmly pressed? I’m sure this is why Allison Scagliotti of Warehouse 13 finds her pal perpetually fascinating.
The Flickcast: Is it fun seeing Warehouse 13’s Allison Scagliotti in San Diego?
Neil Grayston: Yeah, well it’s funny, Allison and I met a year ago, here at Comic-Con. We hit it off pretty much right away and we’ve kept in touch and we’re like really, really good friends. And then, we got paid to hang out and work together for 2 weeks, and make out and stuff.
We have a very similar way of doing things- we answer each other’s sentences so many times and we have the same punch lines. Like when another person has just said something and we’ll both try to make a clever quip and it’ll be at the same time with the same inflection.
It was really fun, I hope I can go back, because the whole Warehouse 13 cast is great and the whole Eureka cast is great, and we all sort of blend quite well together.

As you Flickcast readers know, I’m a huge fan of SyFy’s Destination Truth. I’ve urged you to watch it. Are you? If not, why? You know I have impeccable taste and that I never steer you wrong.
Perhaps this final bit of evidence will convince you. I had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Gates at Comic-Con this year. Just being around him is an adventure. Do you know how many White Shirts (the preferred color of security this year) I had to dodge just to get into the SyFy press room? Do you know how many times my phone went out as I was trying to find them? Do you know how dehydrated and shaky I was? Yeah. You have no idea. This was hardcore. Press badges mean nothing in the wilderness of Comic-Con.
All humor aside (and I’m quite ill as I’m writing this, so it’s probably not as funny as I think it is), it was fantastic to talk to Gates. He talked about the dangers of filming Destination Truth, the things he still can’t explain, and just how they do laundry in far-flung locations. After the jump, watch the delight that is Josh Gates, and be sure to check out the exotic delight that is Destination Truth when it returns to SyFy on September 9th.

Before all you Billy Zane fans out there start drooling, know that this isn’t your mom and pop’s Phantom. This Phantom has cool guns, and sunglasses, and a hoodie! The premise follows Chris Moore (Ryan Carnes), who learns that he’s a part of a long line of jungle crime fighters who have sworn to protect the world from evil.
The show has a bit of a Smallville feel to it, with a few light nods to the original costume, but establishing itself as a newer, “hipper” entity. There are a few modern elements thrown in, such as secret agencies and terrorist factions. Also, you can expect to see lots of purple in the show, which is great if you are hoping the color will make a comeback in the fashion world.
Star Carnes is no stranger to the world of Sci-Fi TV, as he starred in two episodes of the BBC’s Doctor Who. Alongside Carnes is Alias’ Isabella Rossellini (who is totally not crazy) and Sons of Anarchy’s Cameron Goodman.
Check out the first trailer for the new SyFy series after the jump, and stay tuned as we get closer to 2010 for more on the air date.

A few weeks ago we showed you Grace Park discussing the upcoming BSG TV movie The Plan. Then, a bit more about The Plan was revealed when we went to a special panel discussion in Hollywood with some of the cast and producers of Battlestar Galactica. Now, thanks to Collider, we’ve got more video to share with you about The Plan and some other stuff as well.
This time around its an interview with Battlestar Galactica alumni and The Plan director Edward James Olmos. He was interviewed at the recent Saturn Awards, which took place last week in Hollywod. Among the things Olmos reveals in the interview are that The Plan will make fans want to go back and watch the entire BSG series again with a new awareness of what was going on with the Cylons, that the final script for BSG was “one of the finest scripts he’s ever read” and that he will be at Comic-Con this year in appreciation for all the fans who supported BSG.
The video doesn’t exactly dig deep or provide much in the way of new information. Still, its fun to see Olmos and hear him talk about The Plan and his work on BSG. He’s a talented, introspective and obviously grateful man who’s made a lasting impression on the history of television. Unfortunately, watching him talk about BSG just makes me miss the show that much more.
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan airs later this year on Sci-Fi Channel. Check out the video after the jump.

According to Variety, the Sci-Fi Channel is developing a reboot of Alien Nation, the 1988 feature film starring James Caan and Mandy Patinkin that led to a a spinoff series on Fox. Spearheading the new series for the network will be Tim Minear, former Angel writer/producer and veteran of other sci-fi shows like The X-Files, Firefly and Strange World — a rather interesting show made with Howard Gordon that only lasted one season.
In case you’re not familiar with the premise of Alien Nation, it centers on the partnership between a veteran cop and his alien detective partner, set against a world where alien “newcomers” have landed on Earth and are attempting to assimilate into society. Of course, assimilation is easier said than done and as the unlikely partners relationship grows stronger, so do the obstacles that these two face from within the department and the world at large. According to the article, the reboot would expand the backstory of the “newcomers” and would include a mythology that evolves over time.
Minear in particular is excited about the possiblities with the new series, especially when he’s able to mix many of the shows he’s worked on in the past. “It’s genre mixed with procedural mixed with funny and mixed with big, giant scary,” Minear said in the article. “I love serialized stuff, but this is also a cop franchise. That Starsky and Hutch /Lethal Weapon buddy cop comedy is absent from TV right now.”
Minear continued: “You can take (the original Alien Nation) a step forward and really do a show that encompasses the clash of civilizations, and the idea of a ghettoized minority,” he said. “You can touch on racism, terrorism, assimilation, immigration. And there’s room for satire.”
Sounds cool. Hey, maybe James Caan and Mandy Patinkin will be in the new show? I think they’re both available. The new Alien Nation series is expected to debut on the new Sy-Fy Channel sometime in 2010.

At The Flickcast we love pretty much anything the Sci-Fi Channel shows. Of course, we’re particular fans of anything BSG-related like Caprica and the upcoming The Plan. Yes, we even like some of those Sci-Fi-Original Movies featuring the monster of the week. They’re fun.
So, that said, we’re obviously pretty anxious to see what the network decides to showcase at Comic-Con in San Diego this year. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait any longer to find out because they’ve announced their schedule and we’ve got it for you right here.
The channel will be bringing quite a few shows and cast members to the Con including the cast and creators of Stargate Universe, Caprica, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, Eureka, Sanctuary and Warehouse 13. Also, they’ll be taking over a restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel (which is right across the street from the Con) and re-branding it as Eureka’s “Cafe Diem” for the duration, which will, according to the network, be “the hub of all Sci-Fi activities during the week.”

Over at LA Times resident Battlestar Galactica supefan Geoff Boucher’s blog Hero Complex, he’s posted a new trailer for the upcoming BSG prequel movie The Plan. And being the cool guy that he is, he’s allowing us to post the video here for your viewing enjoyment.
This new trailer gives us a bit more insight into what’s going to happen in The Plan and allows us to imagine what the show will be like based on what we’re not seeing. This is the same trailer I was lucky enough to see during the recent BSG/UN event in Los Angeles and now, thanks to the kind folks at Sci-Fi and Boucher, you can see it as well.
The Plan airs on the Sci-Fi Channel in November. Take a look at this very cool trailer after the break.

While we sincerely appreciate our pals at Galactica Sitrep for taking the time to patiently wait with their video camera pointed at the tv screen to catch another clip of The Plan, the upcoming tv movie telling BSG’s story from the Cylon side, we’re glad Sci-Fi has seen fit to release the clip so we can all watch it in better quality. Still, we love your dedication guys, don’t ever change.
This new clip showcases the acting of Dean Stockwell as Cavil as he talks to Ellen Tigh during the time when Cylons were attacking the fleet every “33 minutes” in the original series season one episode. Its a good clip and makes me want to see the entire movie even more. Its a shame we have to wait until November.
How about it Sci-Fi, want to send over a screener copy like right frakkin now? Be your best friend.
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan airs on Sci-Fi Channel in November. Check out the clip after the break.

Over at one of our favorite Battlestar Galactica sites, Galactica Sitrep, they’ve got some info today about an interview being conducted by Chicago Tribune writer Maureen Ryan. Why is this of interest to fans of Battlestar Galactica? Well, she happens to be doing the interview with Sci Fi Channel President Dave Howe, who probably has a few details on various BSG-related projects like Caprica and The Plan.
The interview won’t come out until a bit later, but that hasn’t stopped Maureen from Twittering a few important facts gleaned during the interview. According to Maureen’s Twitter:
Howe says debut of Caprica, BSG prequel series, is likely to be in January.
Sci Fi panels at Comic-Con: Stargate Universe, Caprica, Warehouse 13, Sanctuary, Eureka. BSG movie The Plan “likely” to be there too.
The Plan, BSG film, airs in Nov. Also, there *may* be a Battlestar theatrical film in 3-5 years. Not for sure, but possible, sez Dave Howe.
So, looks like we’re in for quite a bit of BSG-related fun at Comic-Con this year, plus all sorts of other cool Sci-Fi Channel programs to find out more about. Plus, if this BSG movie thing is actually for real, that would be pretty awesome too.
On the movie front, I think its best to wait a bit before getting too excited. I will try to follow my own advice.
Be sure to check out Ryan’s full interview, when it goes live, over at her site The Watcher.

Over at Sci-Fi Channel’s official Stargate Universe site they’ve posted some new video footage incouding a couple “sneak peeks” and a trailer for your enjoyment. This series picks up the Stargate mantle where the previous three series left off and features a pretty decent cast including Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na and Robert Carlyle.
The story, although still Stargate in many respects, is also a bit different this time around. It concerns the purpose of the so-called ‘Ninth Cheveron” and the team assigned to investigate it. This investigation leads them to a mysterious and ancient ship called “Destiny” and once there, they become trapped aboard as the ship races on its programmed mission. The team, unable to change the ship’s programming or course, are along for the ride — wherever it takes them.
During the trip they encounter new races, new technologies, new enemies and maybe even a few friends as the ship takes them on a journey to the end of the Universe. I don’t know about you but that actually sounds pretty interesting to me. Plus, Robert Carlyle is good in pretty much anything he does so his inclusion in this series makes it even more likley I’ll check it out when it hits the air this Fall.

Thursday night in Los Angeles at the famous Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd., producers and cast members from Sci-Fi Channel‘s groundbreaking series Battlestar Galactica got together with officials for the United Nations to discuss issues ranging from human rights to accountability to peace and justice throughout the world — and The Flickcast was there to bring you all the details.
Although these global issues are very important and worthy of discussion, because this is Hollywood, the panel also managed to talk a bit about Battlestar Galactica, the DVD release of the series and the upcoming movie The Plan.

Previously, this group had gotten together at the actual United Nations in New York, which we told you about, and this time around the topics of discussion for the first part of the evening were similar. First up was Sci-Fi Channel President Dave Howe who announced, among other things, that Battlestar Galactica had been nominated for “Program of the Year” by the Television Critics Association.
Then, after a round of thunderous applause at that statement, to which he responded “Well, we haven’t won yet,” he introduced the moderator for the evening: Geoff Boucher of the Los Angels Times’ Hero Complex Blog. Once Boucher took the stage, he introduced the representatives from the UN and the cast and producers of Batlestar Galactica, and then went right into some clips from the four seasons of BSG, including scenes with all your favorite cast members relevant to the topics at hand. Next, Boucher jumped in with questions for the panel.
As this event was billed as a discussion about “TV’s role in making global issues relevant” the questions for the panel started off with very serious topics. Some of these included human rights, a discussion of justice versus revenge, how accountability is important when punishing people who perpetrate crimes against humanity, that BSG addressed issues that people in the UN address each and every day and how the UN doesn’t use the term “Air Locking” like they do on BSG, but, joked one UN rep, perhaps they should.
