As it’s a holiday weekend here in the United States, we won’t be doing much updating at The Flickcast after about 4PM today. Hey, we have to give the staff time off sometimes. However, if something big happens or we think you need to know something, we’ll be sure to bring it to you.
Until then, have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend. To our friends in other countries, have a great weekend. We’ll be back to our regular schedule on Tuesday, July 6th.
See you on the other side.

It’s a holiday here in the United States and a day we remember all the men and women of our armed forces who’ve paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Because of this and because we like to let the writers have some time off occasionally, we’ll have a reduced posting schedule today and will resume our full schedule tomorrow.
To our readers in the U.S., have a great holiday. For the rest of you from other countries, thanks for reading and we’ll see you tomorrow when everything is back to normal around here. Well, as normal as it gets that is.

Who doesn’t love lists? Starting this week, we’ll be bringing you a brand new regular feature in which many members of The Flickcast staff will contribute to The Flickcast Five, a list of five films, TV shows, characters, plots, or other pop culture related items that we love (or hate) the most.
This week, one of the bigger films in this year’s Summer Blockbuster season gets its national release, when Disney’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time hits theaters. Many know that the film is based on the classic 1989 side-scrolling game. In keeping with the cross-genre of gaming and films we bring you our very first Flickcast Five: Video Game Movies. This time, it’s ones we love.
There have been plenty of flops in the genre, from films like Super Mario Brothers with Bob Hoskins, to Double Dragon with Scott Wolf and Alyssa Milano. While not all of them are watchable, most of them are enjoyable, and some are even accurate to the source material that we’ve spent hours, if not days and weeks, trying to complete.

Due to much of The Flickcast team (including Chris) being in Austin for SXSW and the power outages on the East Coast, sadly we won’t be able to bring you a new episode of The Flickcast this week. However, don’t despair as we’ll be back next week with an all-new episode featuring great info from SXSW, the Syfy upfronts, Emerald City Comic Con, Captain America and a whole lot more. It should be a rocking episode.
In the meantime, check out some of our favorite episodes from the past to help you handle the waiting until next week. And don’t worry, seven days really isn’t that long.
The Flickcast – Episode 39: First Flight
The Flickcast – Best of 2009 Special
The Flickcast – Episode 36: Avatar Schmavatar
The Flickcast – Episode 32: Eclipse

As I was watching the new Eclipse trailer, out of sheer boredom and a hint of curiosity, I found myself wondering why in the world two super-powered boys would fight it out over a girl clad in American Apparel who’s a hell of a downer.
How is there an entire film series devoted to one girl’s delusional obsessions of a fairy tale ending with a born-again killer? Sparkely vampires want to kill you, strapping werewolf shape-shifters want to keep you safe.
Do these Edward fans have a death wish and a yearning for abandonment? Is Bella Swan so heavily marketed as mesmerizing that it erases the history of the brazen blonde that came before her?
A long time ago, otherwise known as the 90’s, there was a series called Buffy the Vampire Slayer where a feisty girl from the southland slayed Urban Outfitted demons. This legendary show paved the way for multi-tasking girls who cheer by day, slay by night, and every once in a while hook-up with a tormented blood sucker.

Because today is a holiday in the United States and I like to let the writers out of their cages once in awhile to get some air and sunlight, we will have a lighter posting day today. That doesn’t mean we won’t be putting up anything for you to read and enjoy. Quite the contrary.
We’ve got some great stuff today including a bunch of info from Microsoft’s recent X10 event like new screenshots from Halo: Reach and a trailer for Dead Rising 2, previews of NBC’s new comedy/drama Parenthood and, in honor of today, the debut of a brand new feature here at the site: War Movie Mondays.
So, be sure to check back throughout the day for all these great articles, and more, right here at The Flickcast. We’ll resume our usual posting schedule tomorrow. That is, if I can get all the writer back into their cages in time.

As families shop for gifts, travel to be with loved ones and make final preparations for the holiday season, we here at The Flickcast are doing the same. In order to let our contributors have some fun during the holidays and spend time with their families, we are taking some time off during the next couple weeks.
Consequently, we will have a reduced posting schedule for articles. Of course, if any breaking news hits, we’ll bring it to you. Also, we will have more in our series of “Best Of 2009” articles covering topics such as movies and games, so be sure and watch out for those.
In addition, we won’t be having a podcast this week. However, we will return next week with our “Best Of” edition of The Flickcast podcast where we will discuss everything movie, tv, comics, games and geek we thought was the best of 2009 and of the decade. So, be sure to check that out next Wednesday right here and in iTunes.
For now, we thank you for being here and from all of us at The Flickcast, we wish you the best for the holiday season and for the new year.
Here’s to a happy, healthy and even better 2010!

Here in the United States, where our intrepid team work daily to bring you the best in content covering movies, tv, comics, games and all things geek, it is a holiday week. Thanksgiving is just around the corner (in fact, tomorrow) so that means many of The Flickcast team will be joining family to celebrate this event. That also means that due to the holiday we will have a somewhat limited posting schedule.
This is only temporary, of course, and in a few days we will resume our usual frantic posting pace brining you all kinds of new and cool coverage of your favorite movies, tv shows, games, comics and more. Until then, be sure to check out upcoming articles from some of our contributors who don’t live in the States, which we will be bringing you during the rest of the week. Also, take a look at some of our recent articles by clicking in the list on the right of this column.
We will be back to business as usual on Monday, November 30th. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at The Flickcast.
