Has the thrill of San Diego Comic-Con waned (gasp!) in the last few years? Is the scheduling for the San Diego, Chicago or New York Cons not ideal for you? Or, would your love of comics, games and movies inspire you to travel internationally (this writer is definitely in that camp)? If you fit into any or all of these categories, then today’s your lucky day! Mark Millar is about to become your new hero (if he isn’t already)!
Millar (Kick-Ass, Wanted, Civil War) has announced that he is launching a Comic Con-themed event for the UK market next April. The Kapow Comic Con will take over London’s Business Design Centre on April 9 and 10, 2011 and be dedicated to the world of comics, movies, TV, games and more.
Stars from Hollywood and TV-land have yet to be announced, but Dave Gibbons, John Romita Jr, Frank Quitely, Bryan Hitch and Andy Diggle have all been confirmed for attendance.
Kapow will also introduce the Stan Lee Awards, which will pay tribute to the comic book legend by giving recipients gong statues for Best Comic, Best Superhero or Sci-Fi Movie and Best Comic Book Hero among others.
For more information, check out the official Kapow Comic Con site. See you in London!

All week long, we’ve been bringing you clips from DC and Warner’s newest comic-to-film adaptation, The Losers, which hits theaters everywhere today. In most of the clips, there has been some stellar action sequences, from what seems to be a pretty action-packed film. Nothing, however, can compare to today’s clips.
We won’t give too much away, but there are the following elements in both clips: a rocket launcher, a sniper, bad guys, a motorcycle, and a jet. Of course, the believability in certain parts of the film can be chalked up to science fiction, but that’s the beauty of calling a film a “comic book movie”, there are no limits.
The film, based on the Vertigo series by Andy Diggle, stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, and Zoe Saldana, and will be kicking off what looks to be a military-themed summer blockbuster season.
Check out the two new clips after the jump, and be sure to check out The Losers in theaters everywhere today. Plus, look for our review of the film coming up later today.

While we’d like you to believe that there is some pretty good story behind Andy Diggle’s original Losers comic, so far we’ve only been showing you some of the shooting, exploding, and punching sequences, so it’s a difficult point to make.
The original story is about a group of special ops CIA agents who are betrayed by their handler and go rogue. In their first mission (which is what the film mostly covers), they go to take down their nefarious ex-handler (played by Jason Patric) and the company he works for. You can understand where the explosions and gunfights fit into there, so our point is proven.
Check out another new scene from the flick after the jump, in which the now sheild-wielding Chris Evans plays his regular smart-ass character, which he’s best known for. The film also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, and Zoe Saldana. The Losers hits theaters everywhere Friday.

This weekend, Warner Bros. will be kicking off this year’s epic summer blockbuster season with…you guessed it, a comic book film. Though this story isn’t a traditional comic book story. There are no capes, no costumes, just spies and renegades blowing stuff up in The Losers.
The film follows the Vertigo comic by Andy Diggle about a Special Forces team for the C.I.A. who are betrayed by their handler and left for dead. They decide to take revenge, uncovering a much bigger plot. It’s a regular who’s who of sci-fi and comic book film actors with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar), Idris Elba (Thor), and of course the ubiquitous Chris Evans, who’s in Fantastic Four, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and now the titular lead in Captain America.
Check out the first two clips from the film, in which you get a sexy-ish fight scene between Dean Morgan and Saldana, and some fun banter between Elba and Evans. We’ll be bringing you tons of new stuff for the film this week, and be sure to catch The Losers in theaters everywhere this Friday, April 23rd.

For those of you waiting to see the teaser for The Losers that was supposed to drop today, forget about that. The full trailer is now online. And full trailers are always cooler than teasers.
In this trailer you see the gang in all their glory plus there’s lots of explosive, comic book inspired mayem. And really, who doesn’t love that? With 2009 coming to a close, the challenge was to pick and rank the 10 best comics from the entire year. I’ve estimated reading approximately 1,500+ issues over that time frame, so obviously it wasn’t the easiest task to complete. Still, after much deliberation, these are my picks for the 10 best comics of 2009.
1. Jonah Hex #50
DC Comics
Writers: Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmiotti
Artist: Darwyn Cooke
Originally reviewed on December 3, 2009
Perfection. Defined as the highest degree of proficiency, skill or excellence, perfection is near impossible to achieve, especially when every comic ever printed is subjective in nature. You know, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and all that jazz. Still, when I thought about all the comics I’ve read this past year, this issue of Jonah Hex kept coming back to me. While not perfect (frankly, what is?), it’s pretty close.
A wonderful done-in-one tale following our “hero” as he diligently goes about his day job, in this specific case while hunting down 50 various bad guys who had it coming to them. A fine story on it’s own. Now add a dash of romance – or the bounty hunter’s version of it – to the mix, sprinkle in a little personal vengeance, and top it off with a jolting reminder of how cruel life can be, and you’re left with a portrait of a man who makes no excuses for who he is or what he does, life expectations be damned.

Normally, this info comes to us on Monday and we get it out to you then. Unfortunately, we got it a bit late and had a full plate at the site yesterday, so we’re it to you today instead. You’ve still got plenty of time to figure out what comics you want to buy, so don’t worry.
Also, remember that Wednesday is a holiday so new comics will be most likely be coming out on Thursday this week. If so, be sure not to show up at your local comic store demanding new comics on Wednesday and then wondering why you’re not getting what you want. Plus, being demanding makes you seem like a douche, so probably best to avoid that anyway.
Anyway, here’s a list of all the new Marvel titles hitting stores this week. Of course, we’ve also got some cool preview art for some of these titles as well, so check those out after the break.
