Among its many virtues (and believe me, there were many) Battlestar Galactica had a terrific bunch of actors in it. Because of their high quality, its should really be no surprise that many of them, including Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer to name a few, have gone on to do more work in TV and look to have long careers ahead of them. To that list we can add one more name: Michael Trucco.
Trucco, along with How I Met Your Mother co-star Virginia Williams, are set to star opposite Sarah Shahi (last seen on of one of my favorite recent shows Life) in the upcoming USA drama pilot Facing Kate. The show, in case you’re not familiar, concerns a divorced San Francisco woman (Shahi) who leaves her job as a lawyer to become a mediator following the death of her father, who headed a law firm.
Trucco will play Kate’s ex-husband, who’s also an attorney, a charmer, and who, surprise surprise, still has feelings for her. Williams will play Kate’s “obsessive and controlling younger stepmother who is determined to keep her husband’s firm.” Could be interesting. And really, who doesn’t want to see Anders in more shows? I know I do. He’s cool.

As you might have noticed, we are huge fans of Battlestar Galactica around here. From the original mini-series through the series itself and the Razor movie, we’ve followed the saga of the humans, the cylons and the last Battlestar: Galactica.
And now, the latest movie to feature the Battlestar story, The Plan, is going to be coming to a Blu-ray or DVD player near you at the end of the month. This story, in case you’re not familiar, unfolds through the eyes of humanity’s deadly adversaries, the Cylons. This never-before-seen perspective of the Cylon plan reunites the series’ original television cast including Edward James Olmos (who also directed), Dean Stockwell, Callum Keith Rennie, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park.
Oh, speaking of Tricia Helfer and Grace Park, they were recently selected to grace the cover of Maxim magazine, in part to commemorate the launch of this new DVD and in part because they are just really hot. Works for me.
As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got video from the cover shoot to share with you today. Yes, I said video. . . of Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. . . in very small outfits. Interested? Of course you are. Click through to check it out, along with a gallery of stills from the shoot as well.
Don’t say we never did anything for you.

Writer and producer Jane Espenson has written, or co-written, episodes of some of the most popular and successful TV shows in recent memory. Getting her start on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Espenson also worked on hugely popular shows such as Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and one of the most celebrated series ever on TV, Battlestar Galactica.
More recently, Espenson has written for Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, wrote the BSG TV movie The Plan and she is now Executive Producer on the upcoming BSG prequel series Caprica. Recently, I had an opportunity to talk with Espenson about, among other things, The Plan, Caprica, Dollhouse budget cuts and the move to the internet from traditional media.
CHRIS ULLRICH: What can you tell us about The Plan? It supposedly shows Battlestar Galactica entirely from the Cylon perspective, correct?
JANE ESPENSON: Technically, that’s correct, but perhaps misleading. It shows events from the series from the POV of two very specific Cylons, not from the point of view of them as a group.

As we may have said once or twice before here at The Flickcast, we really like Battlestar Galactica. Sadly, the original series has come to an end. However, as sad as that is, we at least have Caprica and the TV movie The Plan to look forward to.
Speaking of The Plan, which premieres later this year, Universal as just given us the scoop that they will be releaseing a Blu-day version of The Plan on October 27, the same day they drop the standard-def DVD.
Here’s the info from the official press release:

With Comic-Con in San Diego a little over a week away, news coming out of the big networks and movie studios is starting to slow down in anticipation. It makes sense that they want to wait and announce anything really big next week when they can be sure to get as much exposure as possible to their intended fans. Fortunately, there’s still some things coming out this week we can share with you.
Case in point are these two new preview clips from SyFy’s Warehouse 13 and Eureka, which are not even on Hulu yet. The clips each highlight some of the fun and excitement these two shows will be bringing in this week’s episodes. Not only that, the Warehouse 13 clips also features the special guest star making an appearance on the show this week: BSG’s Tricia Helfer. The Eureka clip, on the other hand, goes in a different direction and features series regular Erica Cerra signing Fabulous Baker Boys style on a piano. I’m sure its all in good fun.
Warehouse 13 airs tonight on SyFy at 9/8C and Eureka airs Friday at 9/8C. Meantime, click through to check out the clips from both shows.

A few weeks ago we showed you Grace Park discussing the upcoming BSG TV movie The Plan. Then, a bit more about The Plan was revealed when we went to a special panel discussion in Hollywood with some of the cast and producers of Battlestar Galactica. Now, thanks to Collider, we’ve got more video to share with you about The Plan and some other stuff as well.
This time around its an interview with Battlestar Galactica alumni and The Plan director Edward James Olmos. He was interviewed at the recent Saturn Awards, which took place last week in Hollywod. Among the things Olmos reveals in the interview are that The Plan will make fans want to go back and watch the entire BSG series again with a new awareness of what was going on with the Cylons, that the final script for BSG was “one of the finest scripts he’s ever read” and that he will be at Comic-Con this year in appreciation for all the fans who supported BSG.
The video doesn’t exactly dig deep or provide much in the way of new information. Still, its fun to see Olmos and hear him talk about The Plan and his work on BSG. He’s a talented, introspective and obviously grateful man who’s made a lasting impression on the history of television. Unfortunately, watching him talk about BSG just makes me miss the show that much more.
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan airs later this year on Sci-Fi Channel. Check out the video after the jump.

As we seem to post quite a bit of video here at The Flickcast, especially on Fridays, it only stands to reason we’re going to do another one — seeing as how its Friday and all. So, in an effort to not disappoint those of you who love video as much as we do, as promised, here’s another one for your viewing pleasure.
This time around its a great mashup of the trailers for two of our favorites, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, turned into quite an entertaining show. Created by YouTube user Aliotsy, this video demonstrates what a person with talent, time and determination can do. Simply put, its quite impressive.
Check out the video after the break.

Over at LA Times resident Battlestar Galactica supefan Geoff Boucher’s blog Hero Complex, he’s posted a new trailer for the upcoming BSG prequel movie The Plan. And being the cool guy that he is, he’s allowing us to post the video here for your viewing enjoyment.
This new trailer gives us a bit more insight into what’s going to happen in The Plan and allows us to imagine what the show will be like based on what we’re not seeing. This is the same trailer I was lucky enough to see during the recent BSG/UN event in Los Angeles and now, thanks to the kind folks at Sci-Fi and Boucher, you can see it as well.
The Plan airs on the Sci-Fi Channel in November. Take a look at this very cool trailer after the break.

Fox has released about twelve minutes of clips from BSG Exec. Producer Ron Moore’s upcoming tv movie that may or may not end up being a series Virtuality. The footage helps give all kinds of insight into the world, characters and situations that the show depicts. Of course, seeing these makes me hope the show does get picked up. But sadly, that’s pretty unlikely at this point, which is why Fox is airing the tv movie version.
More in the style and tone of Blade Runner or Alien than BSG, this show, in case you’re not familiar, concerns a dozen astronauts on a journey crucial to the survival of life on Earth. The crew can access a virtual world to keep them entertained during their decade-long journey. When problems begin with the virtual system, things get tense and the crew begins to wonder what’s real and what’s just part of their virtual world.
Virtuality was directed by Peter Berg and features Sienna Guillory, Clea DuVall and James D’Arcy. It airs Friday, June 26th on Fox. Check out all the footage after the jump.

While we sincerely appreciate our pals at Galactica Sitrep for taking the time to patiently wait with their video camera pointed at the tv screen to catch another clip of The Plan, the upcoming tv movie telling BSG’s story from the Cylon side, we’re glad Sci-Fi has seen fit to release the clip so we can all watch it in better quality. Still, we love your dedication guys, don’t ever change.
This new clip showcases the acting of Dean Stockwell as Cavil as he talks to Ellen Tigh during the time when Cylons were attacking the fleet every “33 minutes” in the original series season one episode. Its a good clip and makes me want to see the entire movie even more. Its a shame we have to wait until November.
How about it Sci-Fi, want to send over a screener copy like right frakkin now? Be your best friend.
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan airs on Sci-Fi Channel in November. Check out the clip after the break.
