Rock Out To Four New Clips From ‘The Runaways’

by Sebastian Suchecki, Mar 15 2010 // 9:45 AM

A little while back, we brought you the first clip from the upcoming rock biopic, The Runaways, in which Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) meet for the very first time. With the film’s release less than a month away, we’re now getting even more stuff to share, including some great clips of the rest of the band.

The film is written and directed by artist Floria Sigismondi, and covers the formation and eventual break up of one of the first all-girl rock bands. The film is sure to get the attention of a younger crowd as it teams Twilight: New Moon’s Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

Also along for the ride is Halloween’s Scout Taylor-Compton and Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat. The film looks to fall in the ranks with other great music biopics such as Almost Famous and Ray, while adding a younger appeal.

Check out four brand new clips from The Runaways after the jump, and be sure to catch the “cherry bomb” when it hit’s theaters on April 9th.

Joan Jett Meets Cherie Curry In New ‘Runaways’ Clip

by Sebastian Suchecki, Jan 26 2010 // 9:00 AM

runaways-poster-kristen-stewartNow that things have finally calmed down for Kristen Stawart after New Moon swept the nation, it’s finally time for fans to get excited for her upcoming biopic about the legendary rock group The Runaways. Stewart takes the lead in the film as Joan Jett, with Dakota Fanning playing Cherie Currie and Scout Taylor-Compton playing Lita Ford, as well as others.

The film is said to be a coming-of-age biopic that takes place when the band was first being formed, and the turmoil that broke the band up in 1979. In a new clip that we just got our hands on, we get a glimpse at the very first introduction between Joan Jett (Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Fanning).

Check out the clip after the jump, and take a look at the brand new poster for the film, courtesy of our pals at MTV Movies Blog. Catch The Runaways in theaters on March 19th.

Summit Entertainment Bringing ‘Push’ To TV

by Sebastian Suchecki, Jan 19 2010 // 1:00 PM

push_poster2_lgSuperheroes had quite a year in 2009. From Watchmen finally getting it’s film adaptation, to lesser known superhero flicks getting made, the world of Superhero films certainly grew. With that came a spec script from David Bourla about a select group of people with mental abilities in the film Push, starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning.

The film did marginally well in theaters, and Summit Entertainment is now planning to expand on the property by bringing it to your TV’s. The studio is teaming up with another indie company in E1 Entertainment to bring a global series into homes. They even have David Hayter, who adapted Watchmen and X-Men for film, writing the pilot script.

They currently don’t have a deal with any particular network, as they are currently meeting with many. No word on if any of the film’s cast, such as Evans or Fanning, will return in the weekly series. From The Hollywood Reporter:

Review: ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’

by Shannon Hood, Nov 19 2009 // 6:15 PM

Edward, Bella and Jacob from New Moon

While Twilight was a guilty pleasure, its sequel New Moon just made me feel guilty. Guilty for paying a sitter, guilty for the gas I wasted, and guilty for buying into the Twilight phenomenon to begin with. A wretched excursion into franchise baiting, New Moon is flat out an embarrassment for everyone involved.

Briefly, if you don’t know the story of the sequel, Bella Swan is a mortal in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. Towards the beginning of New Moon, Edward realises that it is too dangerous for Bella to continue seeing him, so he pretends that he doesn’t love her anymore and disappears. Bella behaves like a petulant infant and doesn’t leave her room for months because she is a narcissistic, co-dependent teenager.

When she finally emerges after months of alienating friends and family, she sidles up to Jacob, a local boy of Native American descent, who also is a werewolf. Bella then becomes co-dependent on Jacob, because that is what she does. She also becomes a thrill seeker, because whenever she endangers her life (via cliff diving, motorcycling, etc) she sees a floating spectre of Edward pleading for her to quit engaging in said risky behavior. In her melodramatic mind, this is how she can be close to her beloved Edward, if only for a second. That’s a healthy depiction of true love, right?

First Image of the ‘New Moon’ Volturi

by Matt Raub, Jul 30 2009 // 10:23 AM

New-Moon-Poster-twilight-series-6349263-1728-2560Since last week’s Comic-Con in San Diego, many of the millions of Twilight fans have been anxious to get a glimpse at what the members of the New Moon panel got to see in the legendary Hall H. Most of that footage probably won’t be leaked online for some time, but one thing we do get is an image of the illustrious vampire clan, the Volturi, from the new film.

The Volturi, according to Twlight lore, is one of the oldest vampire clans, operating from the city of Volterra, Italy, eating people and hunting werewolves whenever they choose. In New Moon, Edward rushes to the clan for a solution, which is when we get the first appearance of the dark group. Don’t expect to see much of them, as the Volturi have a more prominent role in Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the series. Check out the image in full after the jump.
