Netflix has secured another original series with Hemlock Grove, a thrilling tale of murder and mystery adapted by Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever), is set to star Famke Janssen (X-Men, Nip/Tuck) and Bill Skarsgard (Anna Karenina, Simon and the Oaks). The series is set to be available for Netflix members to watch instantly, beginning early in 2013.

Set in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town, Hemlock Grove starts with the body of a young girl, mangled and murdered in the shadow of the former Godfrey steel mill. There are a multitude of suspects from an escapee from the White Tower, a biotech facility owned by the former steel magnates, to a 17-year-old Gypsy kid named Peter from the wrong side of the tracks, who tells his classmates he’s a werewolf.

It may have taken a back seat since the Saw franchise ended, but the “torture porn” genre, which is an offshoot of the gore exploitation genre, sure hasn’t faded in popularity. That is evident in the fact that Elo Roth’s Hostel franchise is continuing on without him in Hostel 3.

It may be going straight to DVD, but that only means you’ll be getting much more gore and raunchy content that made Roth’s original films so controversial in theaters. Here’s the synopsis for the newest film.

High stakes gambling takes on a sinister new meaning in this third chapter of the terrifying HOSTEL series. While attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas, four friends are enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the subjects of a perverse game of torture, where members of the Elite Hunting Club are hosting the most sadistic show in town.

The film, directed by Scott Spiegel (From Dusk til Dawn 2) and written by Michael D. Weiss (The Butterfly Effect 2), is set to hit Blu-Ray and DVD on December 27th. Check out the new trailer after the jump.

With the casting and production of Machete being all the rage lately, another film based on a Grindhouse trailer seems to have fallen through the cracks: Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving. Roth has taken a break from directing for a little while during his role as the “Bear Jew” in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, but now that time has passed, it’s time for Roth to warm the director’s chair once again.

In an interview with Sci-Fi (Not SyFy) Wire, Roth explained how he would love to work on a franchise for Thanksgiving, but may first dabble in a PG-13 film.

“[I should] make a PG-13 movie so that I’m like, ‘Aw, man, I wish I could kill more people,’” Roth said. “Then let Thanksgiving just be a bloodletting…. “Now I’m kind of thinking maybe I should make like 20 Thanksgivings in a row, just shoot them all and just release them out of order,” Roth continued. “Like, do Thanksgiving 7, then Thanksgiving 4, then 5 and 6 in the theater. People’d be like, ‘Why did 7 come out already?’ It’s like, ‘Well, it doesn’t matter. It’s just a bunch of people getting chopped up anyways. Who cares?’”

Sadly, these ramblings sound like Roth may have spent a little too much time with QT on the set. But either way, releasing a series of films out of order to confuse the audience does sound like a fun idea. Other films that Roth has in the hopper are supposedly Trailer Trash, which is a feature-length film made up of Grindhouse like trailers, and an adaptation of Stephen King’s Cell. You can currently see the “Bear Jew” in theaters now.
