It looks like Funny or Die’s viral hit Drunk History may soon be a full fledged TV series. Comedy Central has request a pilot presentation of a Drunk History Across America.
The pilot is set to be produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy’s Gary Sanchez Prods. The trio will executive produce with Derek Waters, creator of the Drunk History series of shorts, Jeremy Konner, who directed them, and Owen Burke. Konner will also direct the pilot presentation.
Just like the web series, Drunk History Across America will feature historical reenactments that are based on the way the historical events are described by drunk narrators. The television show will expand on this idea by include some travel elements and interviews with city locals, who will drunkenly narrate local and personal history which. As with the current shorts, all the re-enactments will all be acted out by guest actors.

Tenacious D has always represented the very best of what makes us love Jack Black. Together with his unsung partner Kyle Gass their brand of irreverent humor mixed with bad ass rock was always a cocktail best served always.
Unfortunately, Hollywood had to get in the way and it nearly destroyed everyone’s favorite rock duo. Thankfully the keyword here is ‘nearly’, as the band has come together again to make the greatest album ever recorded, Rize Of The Fenix.
To get the world properly prepared for Rize, the D has graced us with a short film that details how these two rock luminaries came back together for this epic rock event.
The short, entitled To be The Best, is a cameo filled reminder that despite their failed attempt at the Box Office, Tenacious D is still a group to be reckoned with in the music world. Of special interest to many of The Flickcast readership will be how awesome Val Kilmer looks in this short.
Seriously, it is as if someone finally popped the Macy’s Day Parade balloon that was impersonating Val Kilmer for the last few years and the original Val is back, and totally bad ass.
Check out the full short after the jump, and look out for Rize Of The Fenix when it is released May 15th.

Hard to believe, but it has been over 10 years since we have had a theatrical release starring The Muppets. That film was Muppets in Space and had a pretty stellar (no pun intended) cast for 1999 with names like Jeffrey Tambor, David Arquette, Andie MacDowell, Ray Liotta, and Rob Schneider joining in the felt wackiness.
Hard to believe it, but it looks like Jason Segel may actually be able to top that cast with the list of cameos for his upcoming Muppets film, tentatively titled The Greatest Muppets Movie Ever Made.
Just to drop a few names, the film promises to have appearances from Emily Blunt, Zach Galifiniakis, Neil Patrick Harris, Ed Helms, Jack Black, Danny Trejo, Amy Adams, Ricky Gervais, Katy Perry, Donald Glover, Whoopi Goldberg, and dozens of other names.
Needless to say, that title may just fit this film. The very first poster has arrived for the unnamed project, and much like the tagline in it, the film is much closer than you think, as the current release date is set for November 23rd of this year.
Check out the full poster after the jump, and be sure to keep it here as we bring you more news on the upcoming film.

What do Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Elijah Wood, Jack Black, John C. Reilly, Will Arnett, Susan Sarandon, Rainn Wilson, Seth Rogan, Ted Dansen, Stanley Tucci, and a whole bunch of other named celebrities have in common?
They’re all in a brand new semi-biographical, semi-science fictional short film by The Beastie Boys, about The Beastie Boys, titled Fight For Your Right-Revisited.
The film is done in conjunction with the trio’s highly anticipated eighth album, “Hot Sauce Committee Part Two”, and has got Ferrell, McBride, Black, Reilly, Rogan, and Wood playing both the Beastie Boys from the past and the Beastie Boys from the future.
Expect zany, wacky, convoluted awesomeness when the 30-minute film hits DVD (as well as the the web) when Hot Sauce Committee Part Two hits music stores on May 3. In the meantime, check out the star-studded trailer after the jump.

Is there any performer more in love with his job than Jack Black? He’s not the greatest actor, he doesn’t choose the best scripts, or work with the finest directors, but he has a sheer and infectious ebullience that elevates the material, no matter how mediocre it is. Thirty or so years from now, people probably won’t remember Gulliver’s Travels, but they’ll remember Jack Black—it’s no joke to say he’s the Fred Astaire of this generation.
And it’s no joke to say he’s the best part of Gulliver’s Travels, just as he’s the best part of Shallow Hal, Orange County, and a bunch of other vehicles that are all our guilty pleasures. They’re not great, or even really good, but there’s enough smiles to keep you watching.
And that’s Gulliver’s Travels, albeit it’s much more of a kid’s film than Black’s usual saucy romps (Kung-Fu Panda notwithstanding). Here he plays the titular Lemuel Gulliver, slacker mail-room drone for a New York newspaper and secretly in love with the travel editor Darcy (Amanda Peet).
One day, through a series of coincidences, he ends up claiming to be a travel writer to impress Darcy, and she puts him on assignment cover the Bermuda Triangle, and a hop, skip, and waterspout later, he washes up on the island of Lilliput, where all the residents are about 1/10 his size.

Muppets are becoming more of the “hip” thing, as big stars keep finding themselves cast in the newest film. Ricky Gervais and Emily Blunt are the latest high-profile celebrities to join the growing list of cameos in Disney’s newest Muppets movie. The specifics behind their cameos have yet to be announced.
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the duo are joining a packed lineup that includes Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme, who have appearances in a story that reunites the Muppets in order to save their movie studio from a developer. I smell musical numbers!
The new Muppets flick, directed by James Bobin, is currently being filmed in various locations around Los Angeles. Jason Segel, who co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller, is the human lead (no surprise here after his vampire number in Forgetting Sarah Marshall) while Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones round out the cast of human leads.
Stay tuned to The Flickcast for the latest developments on the new Muppets movie.

In the world of Marmadukes and Meet Daves, it was bound to happen that we would see something like the movie Gulliver’s Travels on the horizon. And why wouldn’t they make it even better by adding Jack Black as Gulliver?
In the newest film, from animation director Ron Letterman (Shark Tale, Monsters Vs. Aliens), Black plays Lemuel Gulliver, a nerdy, going-nowhere mail clerk who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to write for a travel magazine by investigating the Bermuda Triangle. After a boat crash, Gulliver wakes up in the classical land of Lilliput where he’s gigantic and everyone else is tiny.
Black doesn’t really bring anything new to the role that we haven’t seen him do before, from his googly eyes to his outrageous flip outs, it’s all been done. We do get an interesting side cast consisting of Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly, and Romany Malco, which could save the film, but don’t have gigantic (pun not intended) hopes.
Check out the newest trailer for the film after the jump. Catch Gulliver’s Travels in theaters on December 22nd, 2010.

Much like the rest of the college youth, Community makes it’s return to school this week, starting up the Spring semester with new stories, new laughs, and even new faces. Kicking off the second half of this season, guest star Jack Black will be stopping by to play. . . Jack Black?
Well, not really. Black is playing Buddy, a fellow classmate of the Spanish study group’s. This character breaks into song at random times, skats, and jumps around impishly, which is the exact opposite of the Jack Black we’ve come to know. In the episode, Buddy tries to join in on the study group, seeing all the fun they have, buy ends up causing more harm than help.
It’s not that outrageous that Black would guest star on an NBC sitcom. Not only did he have a quirky cameo in an episode of The Office, but he’s also good friends with show creator Dan Harmon. Black and Harmon worked on previous projects such as Laser Fart and Heat Vision and Jack, the latter of which being a failed Ben Stiller pilot about a man and his talking motorcycle.
Check out the clips after the jump, and be sure to catch this week’s new Community on NBC this Thursday at 8pm Eastern.

Here at the site you may have realized that, among other things, we’re really fond of video games. In fact, we try to feature as much gaming coverage as we can because we like it so much. So, with that in mind, we’ve got the first of today’s two new trailers for upcoming games to share with you.
This one is for the brand new Electronic Arts and Double Fine title Brutal Legend and features a look at the story of the game and gives you a lot of insight into just how fun this game is going to be. Plus, it features the game’s main character Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black) “rocking out on his heavy metal revolution.”
In the game, Riggs “sets on an epic quest to build an army of rockers with only a broad axe, a big block V8 and his faithful guitar in hand. When an oppressed people request Eddie’s knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he’s ever had, a roadie for a Heavy Metal band. From this springs the most hellacious army man has ever seen, and thus brings this ancient world into the Age of Metal.” Awesome.
Brutal Legend hits store shelves on October 13th. In the meantime, click through to check out the brand new story trailer.
