We’ve been known to gush a bit about rising star Zach Galifianakis here at The Flickcast, and for good reasons. There is one new project that Zach is attached to in particular that seems to look better and better, the more we get to see of it.

Bored to Death is a brand new HBO comedy about a writer who decides to pick up a night job as a noir-style private detective. Starring Jason Schwartzman (very funny), Ted Danson (was funny once), Patton Oswalt (SUPER funny), and Galifianakis (superstar), the show looks to be HBO’s new breakout comedy hit.

Not many can recall a good noir spoof done in the past decade. The first two that come to mind, The Singing Detective and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, both star Robert Downy, Jr. Both films also pull off the “smoke and gun” look of the 1950′s crime drama, while still not taking themselves very seriously. Bored to Death seems to walk that same line, and walk it well.

Who would’ve thought that a game starring Michael Cera, Kieren Culkin, and Jason Schwartzman would get optioned as a video game by UbiSoft, the developer who’s titles include Assassin’s Creed and Call of Juarez? Apparently Universal did, as they’re already planning a game to coincide with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World‘s theatrical release in 2010.

Universal’s live action film is based on a series of graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, and has won several awards including a Harvey Award, Wizard’s Indie Book of the Year, and Entertainment Weekly’s Independent Comic of the Year. In the film, Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) has just met the girl of his dreams (Live Free or Die Hard’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead) only to find out that her seven evil ex boyfriends are coming to kill him.

According to the Bill Kispert, Vice President, Interactive, Universal Partnership and Licensing, they are all excited for the film and gameL

The storyline mirrors the escalating structure of a video game, and it is filled with clever homage to video game culture. Wes Anderson’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox has picked up quite a lot of marketing steam in the past few weeks since the first images popped up online. Now, the very first trailer has hit the web, and it already looks to be a new direction into the world of stop-motion animation from the Anderson camp.

The film stars George Clooney in the titular role of Mr. Fox, where he must outwit three mean-spirited farmers who try relentlessly to take out Fox and his family. The story was originally adapted from the Roald Dahl children’s book and also stars Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Willem Defoe and a few Anderson favorites such as Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman.
