Fantasy Christmas List: ‘Community’ Action Figures

by Matt Raub, May 4 2011 // 9:30 AM

By geek-Santa’s beard, this may be one of the best, marketable ideas ever created. For those who love NBC’s Community as much as we do, you’re going to love this batch of imaginary action figures made by our new super genius, online artist and animator Yehudi Mercado.

The idea? Just your regular, run of the mill action figure mock-ups, except they are of our favorite Community characters (with the exception of Starburns and the Dean) done up in some classic season 1 and season 2 episode’s outfits.

We don’t have much else to say, except that you should go to Yehudi’s site (cleverly titled ActionFigurology.com) and show him as much love as possible so we can get these figures made!

Take a look at the full-sized images of each figure after the jump.

Previews? We’ve Got ‘Em for ‘The Office’, ’30 Rock’ and More!

by Heather Toshiko, Apr 14 2011 // 1:19 PM

It’s Thursday so that must mean most eyes will be glued to NBC for their night of comedy. I know I’ll be watching.

To help get you ready, we’ve got previews for some of tonight’s shows. It all kicks off with a new episode of Community. Tonight, the Greendale gang picks their spring electives and Jeff finds something fishy about Pierce’s new friend.

Next up is the brand new Paul Reiser show featuring, well, Paul Reiser. On the season opener, Paul debates his career path, as we all do, and gets some input from a respectable guest star.

Next up is an episode of The Office where new boss Will Farrell arrives ready for action. Following that, you’re invited to a dinner party with our favorite Parks & Recreation department.

Then, Liz scrambles to find Tracy before TGS is cancelled on a new 30 Rock. Outsourced rounds out the evening when Todd uncovers a secret about one of his coworker’s parents.

Check out the previews for Paul Reiser’s show, The Office and 30 Rock after the jump. The fun starts tonight at 8/7C with Community on NBC.

‘Community’ Spoofs ‘Pulp Fiction’ In a Sneak Peek of Tonight’s Episode

by Matt Raub, Mar 24 2011 // 1:00 PM

Right after the announcement that one of our favorite shows on NBC, Community, is getting a third season, we’ve got something even more exciting as the show is doing an entire episode dedicated to Pulp Fiction tonight. And make no mistake, this one looks to be right up there with the classic chicken and paintball episodes.

From NBC:

On Community, our favorite study group puts down the chicken fingers and grabs a royale with cheese. In this clip you can get your first look Abed’s “Pulp Fiction” themed birthday party featuring Shirley with facial hair, Britta in a wig, and Pierce in a… well, you’ll just have to see what Pierce is decked out in.

Check out the very brief sneak peek after the jump. Catch an all-new Community tonight at 8/7C on NBC.

Huzzah! NBC Renews ‘Community, ‘The Office’, & ‘Parks & Rec’

by Matt Raub, Mar 18 2011 // 1:00 PM

Who says good news doesn’t come at the end of the week? On the heels of their Q&A at PaleyFest this week, NBC’s newest hit show, Community, has been given more life as the network has renewed the show for another season. Also to get another season are Parks and Recreation and the new Steve Carell-less Office.

It seems that though the shows weren’t performing up to expectations, they managed to get a stay of execution. THR spells it out with math. We hate math.

Veteran comedy The Office is delivering a 4.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and averaging 7.7 million viewers for its current seventh season. Steve Carell‘s farewell episode is scheduled to air at the end of April, with Will Ferrell coming on for a multi-episode guest arc.

In the ratings, Amy Poehler‘s Parks and Rec, currently in its third season, is averaging a 2.8 in the key demo and 5.5 million viewers. With its move to the 9:30 p.m. time slot, the series is up 17 percent in the 18-49 demo (2.8 vs. 2.4) and up 9 percent in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 5.1 million).

Critical favorite Community, which has anchored the competitive 8 p.m. time slot on Thursdays for NBC and is led by The Soup host Joel McHale, has averaged a 2.1 in the 18-49 demo and 4.7 million viewers so far in its sophomore season.

Josh Holloway To Guest In Two-Part Paintball Finale of ‘Community’

by Matt Raub, Mar 2 2011 // 9:00 AM

Hands down, one of the best shows to come out of last year’s TV season was NBC’s Community, and inside of that far-too-brief season, one of the best episodes was Modern Warfare in which the entire campus partook in a massive paintball game. References to The Warriors, Die Hard, and John Woo’s The Killer were all brilliantly mixed into a solid 30-minute show, and made it an incredible season.

Now, they’re going back to the game this season with an epic two-part season finale in which a new paintball game is taking over the students of Greendale. This time, the stakes are raised, as LOST star Josh Holloway is making a guest appearance in the game to balance things out. From NBC:

In the episode, Holloway guest stars as a mysterious figure, who emerges on the Greendale Community College campus when another game of paintball breaks out.  The two-part finale finds the students of Greendale taking on another round of paintball warfare as a follow up to last season’s acclaimed “Modern Warfare” episode, in which students battled it out for the ultimate prize – early registration.

Not much else is known about the episode, but without Holloway, you would expect a return to the paintball storyline to be epic. Things are only going to get “Epicer” with Sawyer joining in the festivities.

Community airs every Thursday night at 8:00 PM ET/PT on NBC.

Check Out Clips From Tonight’s ‘Community’, ’30 Rock’, ‘The Office’ and More!

by Chris Ullrich, Jan 20 2011 // 3:00 PM

Normally we would make some interesting comments about this or that and post something relevant to the topic at hand. This time, however, the staff is in a hurry to head out for lunchtime hot air balloon rides so this has got to be a quick one.

NBC has some great shows on Thursday night and they are all back tonight will all-new episodes. We, of course, have promos for all of them.

Community kicks off the night with guest Malcolm-Jamal Warner, followed by the Perfect Couples premiere. Then Michael’s war to win Holly’s heart continues on The Office, followed by Rob Lowe back with the cast of Parks and Rec. Finally, Liz dabbles in Jack’s marriage on 30 Rock followed by Outsourced going Bollywood. That should be interesting.

Check out all the clips where we usually put stuff like that. If you can’t figure it out now, we can’t help you. All the fun kicks off tonight at 8/7C with Community.

Go Behind The Scenes Of The ‘Community’ Stop-Motion Christmas Special

by Sebastian Suchecki, Dec 2 2010 // 9:00 AM

Who doesn’t love a classic stop-motion Christmas special around the time of the holidays? Rankin/Bass productions like Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer have pulled families together for generations around this time of year, and now it’s time for NBC’s breakout comedy Community to do the same.

Next Thursday, the gang is going a little bit clay, as they get transformed into a world of claymation, thanks to the Dino Stamatolpoulus’ (Star-Burns) stop-motion studio. Here’s the episode’s official synopsis.

When Abed wakes up in stop-motion animation, he takes it as a sign that he and the group must re-discover the meaning of Christmas. Meanwhile, Jeff and Britta become growingly concerned about Abed’s mental health and enlist the help of Professor Duncan. The group undergoes hypnosis to explore Abed’s winter wonderland and soon unravel the truth behind Abed’s madness.

Series stars Danny Pudi and Allison Brie got to go behind the magic at the stop-motion studio and check out how things were going. Check out parts one and two of their all-access tour and be sure to catch “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas” Thursday, December 9th, on NBC.

The Flickcast’s ‘On the Radar’

by Bob Starr, Nov 5 2010 // 3:00 PM

Welcome to this week’s On the Radar where we delve into all corners of the entertainment, tech and geek Internets for news, views and whatnot that may have escaped our regular coverage this week. Let is know if we missed something interesting. Otherwise, on to the links!

• Joel McHale, proving to us once again that he’s the man, stopped by The Today Show to pimp Community and mock Kathy Lee and Hoda.

• Halloween may be over, but here are some awesome costumes you may have missed.

• People and their damned streaming. Internets everywhere have been clogged up by the massive use of Netflix over the past week.

• A laptop desk that you can attach to your steering wheel? Not since the first porn film played on a portable in-car DVD player has another device potentially caused so many accidents.

• Miss last Sunday’s pilot of AMC’s The Walking Dead? Well lucky for you, the episode is currently online in its entirety.

• Getting your list on, as usual, here are 10 of the best lessons taught to us by comics.

• A group of die hard Harry Potter fans gathered in the center of Grand Central to reenact one of their favorite scenes. New Yorkers were not phased.

• It looks like he may not have found another Alias after all, as J.J. Abrams’ Undercovers has officially gotten the boot from NBC.

Abed Gets Revenge In Another New Clip From Tomorrow Night’s ‘Community’

by Sebastian Suchecki, Nov 4 2010 // 2:00 PM

Yesterday, we brought you two clips from this week’s episode of Community, airing tomorrow night. In the episode, HIlary Duff and Matt Walsh (The Daily Show) guest star in Aerodynamics of Gender that include Greendale’s very own versions of The Secret Garden and Mean Girls.

This season has already seen some pretty impressive episodes, including an entire episode dedicated to Apollo 13, and yes–even a zombie episode. It hasn’t been announced whether or not NBC is picking up the show for another season, but if it’s ratings are any indicator, this may be the last we’ll see of our gang.

In the last clip we have for you today, Abed (Danny Pudi) uses his quirky ability to pick out personality weaknesses to take down the school’s very own group of girl bullies, lead by Hilary Duff.

Expect this episode to be more centric on the cast’s female stars, as they get their very own revenge on this group of Mean Girls.

Check out the clip after the jump, and be sure to catch Community tomorrow night at 8pm P/EST.

Check Out 2 New Clips From This Week’s ‘Community’

by Sebastian Suchecki, Nov 3 2010 // 9:00 AM

It’s fate may be sealed by NBC, but that hasn’t stopped Community from being one of the most original and brilliant comedies on TV today. NBC has yet to make a decision on picking the show up for another season due to it’s mediocre ratings (damn you, Big Bang Theory!) while they are more than happy with the numbers for the new comedy Outsourced.

Before the decision gets made, we still get brand new adventures from our favorite Greendale Community College clique, and this week, things get even more interesting as Hilary Duff guest stars. From NBC.

After a classroom smackdown with a group of “mean girls” led by Meghan (guest star Hilary Duff), Britta, Shirley, and Annie bond with Abed by turning him into the ultimate “mean girl.” Meanwhile, Jeff and Troy embrace a zen-like spirituality under the guidance of a groundskeeper when they come across a secret trampoline on campus. Determined to uncover the source of their new bliss, Pierce ends up taking a disastrous turn on the trampoline and lands in the hospital.

We’ve got 2 brand new, can’t-miss clips from the episode for you after the jump, so check them out and catch Community this Thursday night on NBC.

Jessica Alba, Joel McHale, & Jeremy Piven All Join ‘Spy Kids 4′

by Matt Raub, Oct 28 2010 // 8:00 AM

Just when you think Robert Rodriguez is going to zig, he zags. Unlike his friend and mentor, Tarantino, who puts out an artistically written film once every four years, Rodriguez is constantly reinventing himself, claiming domain over genres ranging from ultra violent exploitation films to 3D family flicks.

It looks like he’s doing a bit of fan service in both directions now with the casting for Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World. It’s been recently confirmed that Rodriguez has obtained Jessica Alba, Jeremy Piven, and Community’s Joel McHale to star in the film, with actors like Alexa Vega, Antonio Banderas, and Danny Trejo to return. Here’s the rundown of the film from the studio.

On the surface, Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) has it all…married to a famous spy hunting television reporter, a new baby and intelligent twin step kids. But in reality, trying to mother Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook), who clearly don’t want her around, is her toughest challenge yet. Also, her husband, Wilbur (Joel McHale), wouldn’t know a spy if he lived with one which is exactly the case – Marissa’s a retired secret agent.

Marissa’s world is turned upside down when the maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the planet and she’s called back into action by the head of OSS, home of the greatest spies and where the now-defunct Spy Kids division was created. With Armageddon quickly approaching, Rebecca and Cecil are thrust into action when they learn their boring stepmom was once a top agent and now the world’s most competitive ten year olds are forced to put their bickering aside and rely on their wits.

With a little help from a couple of very familiar Spy Kids, Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara), and some mind-blowing gadgets, they just may be able to save the world and possibly bring their family together while they’re at it.
