NYCC10: Magneto, M.O.D.O.K., Arthur and ‘Bionic Commando’ Coming to ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′

by John Carle, Oct 11 2010 // 11:00 AM

It’s no surprise with the amount of sponsorship Capcom has given to the New York Comic Con that they’d have some big announcements for their most anticipated new title, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds. Not surprisingly, these announcements came in the form of additions to the roster.

First up is Magneto, returning from his stint in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, this former mutant terrorist turned X-Men gets the HD makeover with all of his favorite Hyper Combos for the next generation of Marvel vs. Capcom combat.

Also buffing up the Marvel side of things is M.O.D.O.K., the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. The leader of A.I.M. may seem like an odd choice for a fighting game with his limited mobility but Capcom has shown in the trailer below just what kind of technology this former technician is equipped with to put him toe to toe with Capcom’s best.

Speaking of Capcom, their classic hero Arthur from the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series will make his series debut as a playable character. Fans of the series will remember the underwear wearing knight in all his boxer glory as an assist character in the first Marvel vs. Capcom.

Finally, the Bionic Commando Spencer will be added to the series as well. Take a peek at the video below showing the Mortal Kombat-esque “Get over here” attack that Spencer possesses.

Spider-Man and ‘Resident Evil’ Baddie Coming to ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′

by John Carle, Sep 27 2010 // 9:00 AM

It’s been a big month for Spider-Man. His recent title, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions was released to strong reviews and now he has officially been added to the roster of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.  Spider-Man has not only become the most iconic character in Marvel, he has also been a staple of Capcom’s Marvel fighting games since their inception.

It is no surprise to see him officially a part of Marvel vs. Capcom 3′s roster. Now the question remains if one of his fearsome foes like the wildly popular Venom will be added as well or if a totally different opponent of his will make their way into the game. It seems like a versatile and different character like the Sandman or Green Goblin might have a strong showing in the series.

A debuting character to the series is Resident Evil’s Wesker. (Spoiler) Coming back from the dead will be the main antagonist from the survival horror series.

Starting out as a supporting character, Wesker was eventually revealed to be the main big bad for Resident Evil, and has made an appearance in another Capcom franchise, Lost Planet 2 as a multiplayer skin. His glowing red eyes and superhuman abilities make him a great fit for the franchise as seen in his trailer below.

Make sure to peek at all the new screens for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 along with both new character trailers and stick close as more Marvel vs. Capcom 3 news becomes available.

Three New ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′ Videos from Tokyo Game Show

by John Carle, Sep 17 2010 // 11:00 AM

This week at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom revealed two new characters as well as a new trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds. One of the characters was not a huge surprise after her unofficial announcement in Monday’s Episode 2 Trailer. The second on the other hand is somewhat of a shocker.

Announced for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is Wolverine’s younger, less hairy and much prettier female clone, X-23. Currently in her own series after sever minis, a stint in New X-Men and most recently X-Force, Laura is no less vicious than Logan and in some cases her lack of emotion even scares Wolverine as he has seen what it had done to his own life.

In the video below, take a peek at X-23 in action as she shows herself off as a faster and more agile version of Wolverine. Though the strength might not be there, it looks like X-23 can hold her own in a fight.

Also officially revealed is Tron Bonne from the Mega Man series. Tron appeared in the previous Marvel vs. Capcom 2 where her infamous specials included the control of waves of rampaging Servbots. Take a peek at her trailer below to see the little guys in action again.

Finally, take a peek at the last trailer for a full view of all the game’s combatants in campy Capcom-y goodness including a brief clip of everyone’s favorite select screen music “Take You For A Ride”.

Stick with us for all things Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and check out all three trailers after the jump.

‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds’ Episode 2 Trailer

by John Carle, Sep 14 2010 // 7:00 AM

They call it “The Fate of Two Worlds” but Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has more to it than just two iconic companies collaborating. It also holds with it the fate of the world of fighting games. Today, Capcom has released the second official trailer for the game. Though it doesn’t do much to explain any of the story for the title yet, it does help give some perspective into the alliances being forged within the context of the title.

Most importantly, the new trailer reveals a new character to the roster. Now up to 19 playable characters revealed, Tron Bonne from the Mega Man series and pervious Marvel vs. Capcom titles makes her return. Still in her big green robotic suit, in the trailer below you see Tron trying to go toe to toe with the likes of Doctor Doom. Hopefully this is an indication that Mega Man will be making his return to the series as well.

Make sure to stick close to the Flickcast for all things Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds and check out the newest trailer after the jump.

Dormammu and Viewtiful Joe Coming to ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′

by John Carle, Aug 19 2010 // 8:00 AM

With Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds still months away, Capcom is slowly but surely releasing tidbit by tidbit of information about the title. After our hands-on time with the title,  we have gotten more and more excited with each new character announcement.

Gamescom brought with it the official announcement of two characters new to the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise.

Viewtiful Joe, the titular character in his own game made his Capcom vs. debut in the recent Wii title Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. After the hype of this classic Capcom character being brought back, it must have been a no brainer for him to be tossed in to Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

A not so surprising addition comes in Dormammu from the Marvel Universe. Not because of the popularity of the character but because people began suspecting him with the first teaser trailers of the game were released. From the ending of the teasers, it looked as though Dormammu may be the new big bad that threatened the two worlds but now it looks like this is not the case as Dormammu has been brought down to size with the rest of the game’s cast.

Take a peek at all the new screen shots below and stick to the Flickcast for more news on Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds as it becomes available.

E3 2010: ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′ New Character Trailer & Screenshots

by John Carle, Jun 16 2010 // 8:00 AM

With E3 comes big announcements for big franchises. The biggest fighting game franchise war has begun with two new trailers being released for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds and Mortal Kombat. Previously, we had shown you the first character trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 which introduced us to a new generation of visuals for Ryu, Wolverine, Iron Man, Morganna, Chris Redfield and the Hulk.

Now, Capcom has sent out an updated trailer for E3 featuring two new company icons being added to the game’s roster. First, Marvel drops their rising star Deadpool in to the game. Thus far, Deadpool has never made an appearance in a fighting game. While he has played a part in action RPGs like X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 as well as the Wolverine: Origins movie tie-in game, he will be given a whole new level of mayhem in the genre that looks tailor-made for the Merc with the Mouth. Guns, swords, hand to hand combat and smack talking his opponent, it just screams Deadpool.

Capcom, not being slouches either, have added Dante from the Devil May Cry franchise to the series. Dante matches up perfectly as the adversary for Deadpool as his games revolve around sword and gunplay. And he may be the one person who can drive Deadpool even crazy with his calm, cool and collective personality that Deadpool’s quips may have no effect on.

Also just in are screen shots from the event which reveal Captain America and Felicia, both from the previous Marvel vs. Capcom 2, as being playable characters as well.

Check out the updated E3 Trailer and screen shots for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 after the jump.

First Trailer for ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′ Hits the ‘Net

by John Carle, Apr 21 2010 // 12:00 PM

When it originally hit arcades, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: A New Age of Heroes dominated the coin-op world. It continued success on consoles and made a return last summer as an XBLA and PlayStation Network title. Nine years after its original release and with a $15 price tag, it still was one of the most popular releases of 2009.

Yesterday, Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds and released it’s first trailer to the world. With what looks like the visual stylings of Street Fighter 4′s, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 still has a lot of questions left on the table. Will it still be a tag system in combat? Who is the full cast of the game? And what is this “Fate of Two Worlds” story they look to be pushing? Capcom’s official press release told us:

It’s been a decade since Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes was first released and now the most popular Marvel and Capcom characters join forces again in a re-envisioned team fighting game for a new generation. Fill the shoes of legendary characters from the most beloved franchises in entertainment as you battle in the first VS. Fighting game powered by Capcom’s MT Framework.

As you can tell, we are already excited for this release since we have been waiting for it for years. The game will be released for PS3 and XBox 360 in the Spring of 2011. In the meantime, check out the first trailer after the jump.
