Originally, Lost Planet 2 preorders from Gamestop were going to allow players exclusive access to the Resident Evil 5 Albert Wesker skin and Magnum Revolver weapon during the game. Due to popular demand, Capcom has changed this and made the skin and Revolver available to everyone who purchases the game.
Now the question will be if they are available from the start or if they will be unlockables. As a result, Gamestop now offers two exclusive multiplayer maps. Available for the game’s 16 player online multiplayer, Helix and Back to the Island will be downloadable for those who preorder.
Helix
The underwater NEVEC mining facility houses several layers and twisted corridors. Swim between the layers, or dive to the bottom to change your point of attack. Aqua Catapults can launch you to the upper levels in a hurry, and you must learn every corner and get the upper hand on your enemies.
Back to the Island
The shady atoll of Island 902 is broken into wide open spaces and compact interiors. Choose your battlefield from the beaches to the battered carrier, or explore a new dimension in the underwater battle. Control the bridge to dominate the map, but beware attacks from all sides.

Sounds confusing or just plain awesome? Capcom announced that not only would Lost Planet 2 feature Microsoft icons Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago from the Gears of War franchise as playable skins in both single and multiplayer, but at X10 they also revealed that Resident Evil antagonist Albert Wesker will also appear in the game.
As opposed to the faceless space marines we experienced in the multiplayer demo of Lost Planet 2, players will be able to take the reigns as their two favorite Gears or a Resident Evil baddie as they make their way through the environments of E.D.N. III.
Take a look below at screens from the game featuring the latest additions to the Lost Planet universe as well as video that Gamespot.com picked up from X10 as they controlled Marcus Fenix in Lost Planet 2.
As always, stick to the Flickcast for further coverage of Lost Planet 2 as it becomes available.

If you love video games and think they deserve more recognition, how about an awards show to help them get more time in the spotlight? If you think that’s a good idea, you’re in luck so read on from this official press release.
Between now and December 7th, community voting is open for the Gamers’ Choice awards. It’s a very unique and cool (if not first of its kind) voting mechanic: there is one video for each nominee, and each video view counts as a vote. Each video contains clickable links to easily navigate around all the categories and nominees. There’s even a community contest, with five $1,000 shopping sprees up for grabs.
The awards show itself will be held at the Redbull House in Santa Monica, CA on 12/11/09, one day before the VGA’s. Then on 12/15/09, a special episode of Inside Gaming will feature all of the winners and related industry news.
The “Inside Gaming Awards” will form two special editions of the “Inside Gaming” series. The first special was broadcast Friday, November 27th, 2009 with “Inside Gaming’s” host “The Dead Pixel” launching over 90 nomination videos across 18 categories. Nominees will be eligible for two separate awards – the official industry “Inside Gaming Award” and a “Gamer’s Choice Award”, which will be chosen by community votes between the dates of Nov. 27th and December 7th.
Community votes will be counted based on the number of views each nomination video receives during the two week voting period. Check out the full list of Inside Gaming Awards Nominees for 2009 after the jump.

Be prepared for some evil residents of Canada (See what I did there, with the “evil” and “residents” . . . never mind). The fight against the Umbrella Corporation continues as filming for Resident Evil: Afterlife starts shooting in Toronto, Ontario. Yes, your’s truly will only be an hour away from the awesomeness of zombies and hotness that is Milla Jovovich (The other Resident Evil films), Ali Larter (Heroes) and Wentworth Miller (Prison Break).
Hey, I’m man enough to admit Miller has eye candy appeal with the ladies. Speaking of Miller, the announcement from Screen Gems and Constantin Film confirmed he would be playing Chris Redfield, the brother of Jovovich’s character, Alice. Paul W.S. Anderson returns as director, producer, and writer of the film and provided a vague glimpse of what is to come, “Alice’s battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn’t finished. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It’s time to settle the score.”
Did I say “vague”? Maybe I should have said really vague. Anyway, I’m up for watching Alice “settle the score” so long as it involves an unnecessary amount of undead carnage and perhaps more mutant dogs. Mutant dogs are fun. As an added bonus this time around Resident Evil: Afterlife will be shot in 3-D, because there’s nothing like a decapitated zombie head in your lap. Resident Evil: Afterlife is set for a fall release in 2010.
Oh, and if I happen to cross paths with Milla while I’m in Toronto you’ll definitely read about it here first.

As the next installment of the Resident Evil series picks up steam some casting news has been revealed in a somewhat unofficial way. According to actor Boris Kodjoe, Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller will be appearing in Resident Evil: Afterlife. While nothing official has come out regarding his character there is speculation that he may play Leon Kennedy, a police officer from the video game itself who has yet to appear in any of the films.
Kodjoe also gave an idea of how his character will meet up with Milla Jovovich’s Alice in the new film, “She comes across an LA jail surrounded by [zombies]… and there’s a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We’re trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety.”
While nothing was said about Miller being part of that jail scene it seems the actor just can’t get away from plots that involve prisons. Kodjoe, also stated that Heroes’ Ali Larter will return to reprise her role as Claire Redfield from Resident Evil: Extinction. No release date has been set for Resident Evil: Afterlife but we’ll keep you posted.

I know what you’re thinking. At the end of Resident Evil: Extinction, what was arguable the weakest of the three films, you really wanted just one more go around for Alice and her nemesis, the evil Umbrella Corporation. Well, get ready because according to reports over at Shock Til You Drop, you might be getting just what you want. That is, if you can believe the rumors.
According to the site, a tipster has revealed that there will indeed be a fourth installment of the franchise and it even has a name: Resident Evil: Aftermath. The story, and again just speculation at this point but not that hard to believe, concerns all those clones of Alice revealed at the end of the third film and how they will take their final revenge on the Umbrella Corporation as they hide in their layer deep under Tokyo.
Lending more credence to this rumor is the fact that Paul W. S. Anderson revealed last year he was indeed writing a new film, that Capcom was involved and that everyone was “excited.” Plus, according to the site, a Sony insider said the studio is looking to get Resident Evil: Afterlife into theaters by September 17, 2010.
No word on if Anderson will direct or if franchise star Milla Jovovich will be back. Although, at least in the case of Jovovich, I think its pretty likely — especially in light of the video after the jump where she pretty much conforms it. Rumor or not, we’ll keep you posted on this as it develops.
