Mickey Rourke Looks Angry in New ‘Iron Man 2′ Poster

by Sebastian Suchecki, Dec 10 2009 // 2:00 PM

iron-man-2-poster-whiplash-crop

It looks like Paramount has been stepping up their marketing over the past few weeks in preparation for next May’s release of Iron Man 2. Just last week, we received two new teaser posters, showing off both Tony Stark and War Machine, and now a brand new poster has surfaced showing off the film’s baddie, Whiplash.

The character is played by Oscar-snubbed actor Mickey Rourke, and is basically a mash-up of a few different Iron Man villains. He’s got Crimson Dynamo’s background with the appearance and name of Backlash. The character is said to fight alongside Tony Stark’s villain in the film, Justin Hammer (played by Sam Rockwell).

Check out the full-sized poster after the jump, featuring a quite intimidating Rourke posing with his glowing makeshift Iron Man power source and light-whips. Be sure to keep it here for all new Iron Man 2 coverage as it comes to us.

‘Sherlock’ Now Sponsoring ‘Family Guy’ Episode

by Bob Starr, Nov 2 2009 // 12:15 PM

Brian WritingIt looks like the Family Guy special which was suppose to promote Windows 7 has found a new sponsor since Microsoft backed out late last week. Warner Bros. Pictures stepped up and took the opportunity to pitch director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.  It would have been way funnier if Apple took the spot but this should be pretty cool too.

Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show is still set to air on November 8 with sneak peeks of the Sherlock Holmes film set to come out Christmas Day. The original concept for the show was to feature Windows 7 promotion spots instead of commercials. However, there’s been no word on how tightly integrated the Holmes content will be by comparison. Hopefully Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will somehow tie-in the new material for the show itself as originally intended.

Here’s hoping Warner Bros. has watched Family Guy and understands what they’re in for. I’m all for covering stories but the last think anyone needs is yet another update about this special episode. I would hazard a guess and say at this stage this is a done deal. Oh no, I didn’t just jinx myself by saying that did I?

Fan Film Friday: ‘Iron Man 2′ Comic-Con Trailer

by Matt Raub, Jul 31 2009 // 9:00 AM

poster_ironman-21Now that we have your attention: NO, this is not a hoax, and YES, this is actually a fan-made trailer of the footage shown during last week’s San Diego Comic-Con. Done by the cool dudes over at ScreenCrave.com, this is a shot-for-shot, word-for-word reenacted (or “sweded”) version of the trailer that was shown to the lucky thousands who waited for a seat in Hall H. Only with this one, it was done in a few hours on the streets of San Diego.

Note the authenticity and intricacy of the soft drink lid as Iron Man’s nuclear powered heart or the paper-and-pen combination for Nick Fury’s eye patch. Also note the interesting casting decision when selecting their Don Cheadle. The video is a laugh riot but more importantly you get the idea of what the trailer was like.

After the first run through, your brain knows to replace the main actor with Robert Downy Jr. and the white dude with a post-it on his face with Sam Jackson, so it’s almost like you’re getting the full experience.

Check out the video after the jump, and prepare to laugh.

New Posters Revealed for ‘Iron Man 2′, ‘Captain America’, & ‘Thor’

by Matt Raub, Jun 4 2009 // 2:30 PM

Marvel Quad PosterOn the heels of the poster and release date released for Spider-Man 4 earlier this week, more pictures have come from the Marvel booth at the Licensing Expo 2009 in Las Vegas. This time, the spotlight is on the rest of the Marvel universe, with a quad poster revealed for Iron Man 2, The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, and all of them together in The Avengers.

The best part of the posters being released is the projected release dates that come along with them. The first, which wasn’t a huge surprise is that Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 will be released May 7 of 2010. According to director Favreau’s tweets, they are about halfway through principle photography, and yes, Sam Jackson will be back.
