This Week’s ‘Rock Band’ DLC: Talking Heads, Rage Against the Machine, Oasis & More

rock_band_2_calloutAfter the epic week of new releases from 80s rockers Billy Idol and Fleetwood Mac along with icon Tom Petty, Harmonix takes a change of pace with their Rock Band releases and aims for some classics with their Talking Heads Pack 01. With Rock Band 2 already featuring “Psycho Killer”, this pack comes more for the hardcore Talking Heads fan than the casual player. But of the rest being released this week, we are most excited for Rage Against the Machine’s “Guerrilla Radio”.

The following tracks are coming this week to XBox Live on September 1st and the Playstation Network on September 3rd for $2.00 a track (160 points on the Microsoft Store). In addition, all five Talking Heads tracks are available for the discounted price of $8.49 (680 points on the Microsoft Store)

Talking Heads – “Crosseyed & Painless”
Talking Heads – “Girlfriend is Better”
Talking Heads – “Once in a Lifetime”
Talking Heads – “Take Me to the River”
Rage Against the Machine – “Guerilla Radio”

Oasis – “Supersonic” (Live)

This Week’s Rock Band DLC: Billy Idol, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac

rock_band_2_calloutAs announced today on Rock Band’s official website, this week looks to be a big week for Downloadable Content. With the goal of reaching 1000 songs in their library by year’s end, Harmonix welcomes Billy Idol, Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac in to the Rock Band family of musicians. In addition, a new track from Jet will also be available.

Coming this week to XBox Live on August 25th and the Playstation Network on August 27th for $2.00 a track (160 points on the Microsoft Store):

Billy Idol – “Mony Mony”
Billy Idol – “Rebel Yell”
Fleetwood Mac – “Don’t Stop”
Fleetwood Mac – “World Turning”
Jet – “She’s a Genius”
Tom Petty – “I Won’t Back Down”
Tom Petty – “Runnin’ Down a Dream”

In addition, the Wii which is catching up to the catalog of XBox 360 and the Playstation 3 has a ton of tracks coming in, each for 200 Wii Points ($2.00) including some from recent Flickcast Interviewee, Rob Zombie.

New ‘LEGO Rock Band’ Trailer

lego_rock_band_detailsRock Band has never failed to satisfy the wanna-be rock stars within us, but has yet to focus on the younger generation of budding rockers, until now. LEGO Rock Band will feature everything we know and love about the previous Rock Band games as well as the family-friendly, silly antics gamers have come to expect from the LEGO franchise. Players will be able to design their whole band as well as their roadies and manager.

Some notable tracks from the kid-friendly setlist are “Song 2″ by Blur, Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting”, Good Charlotte’s “Boys and Girls” So What” by Pink, and “The Final Countdown” by Europe.

Coming this Holiday season for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS, LEGO Rock Band puts the power of Rock into the hands gamers of all ages as they “Build a Band and Rock the Universe.”
