Check Out New Clips from ‘Drive’ with Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston

by Chris Ullrich, Sep 15 2011 // 1:00 PM

Director Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive is a film I enjoyed very much. It’s stylish, almost absurdly violent and immensely entertaining.

It’s what movies should be. Well, it’s what drama/action movies should be at the very least, Don’t get me wrong, it’s also got a brain.

But what makes this movie so cool are the visuals and the anti-hero played by Gosling. He’s a man of few words who lets his actions speak for him.

In the film Gosling plays “Driver,” a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman that will take any job and not ask questions. All is well until that fateful day he discovers a contract has been put on him after a heist goes wrong. And oh boy does it go wrong.

Because I enjoyed it so much I want to do whatever I can to help get the word out. Like we’ve already done. Now, We’ve got even more from the film to share with you.

This time around it’s a bunch of videos including some behind-the-scenes stuff as well as a few scenes from the film itself. You can check them out after the break.

In addition to Gosling, Drive stars Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks. It hits theaters this Friday. See it.

A New Clip and Stills For ‘Drive’ with Ryan Gossling Arrive

by Chris Ullrich, Aug 26 2011 // 3:00 PM

Let me just say, for the record, I enjoyed director Nicolas Winding Refn’s film Drive immensely. I’m going to do a full review of the film down the road, but for now, let’s just say the movie had an influence on me that few movies have of late.

Because I enjoyed it so much I want to do whatever I can to help get the word out. So, to that end, we’ve got some new stuff from the movie to share with you today.

In case you’re not familiar with Drive, it stars Ryan Gosling as “Driver,” a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman that will take any job and not ask questions. However, as is often the case (especially in the movies), he discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist goes wrong.

And seriously, it goes really wrong. They are not kidding.

Drive features a great cast who, to a man or woman, do a superb job. It includes Ryan Gossling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks.

Check out the video and some stills after the break. Drive hits theaters September 16, 2011.

First Trailer for ‘Drive’ with Ryan Gosling Looks Pretty Damn Good

by Chris Ullrich, Jul 26 2011 // 11:30 AM

In spite of its surface similarities to another recent series of movies about a guy who drives for a living and doesn’t ask questions, the upcoming Drive from director Nicolas Winding Refn looks pretty damn good. So good, in fact, we feel compelled to bring you a trailer for it right now

In case you’re not familiar with Drive, it stars Ryan Gosling as “Driver,” a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman that will take any job and not ask questions. However, as is sometimes the case, he discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist goes wrong.

The film also features a great supporting cast including Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar isaac, and Albert Brooks. Oh, forgot to mention that Winding Refn also won the Best Director award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. That, the cast and the trailer should be enough to sell you on Drive. If not, I’ve got nothing more for you.

Check out the video below. Drive hits theaters September 16, 2011.

Okay, here’s the deal. If you’re not watching Sons of Anarchy on FX you are missing out on one of the best shows on TV. It’s really just that simple.

‘Conan The Barbarian’ Finally Looks Badass With A New Red Band Trailer

by Matt Raub, Jun 21 2011 // 9:00 AM

We can admit that the very first teaser trailer of Lionsgate’s upcoming Conan The Barbarian remake hit the web, we were far from impressed. It looked much like if Clash of the Titans and The Scorpion King had a baby, and that baby was not very pretty. Now, months later, we’re getting some killer action and things are finally starting to look awesome.

The film couldn’t come at a better time for star Jason Momoa, as he’s on top of the pop culture world after playing Khal Drogo on the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Now he’s really stretching outside his comfort zone and playing a barbarian that screws and kills…everything. Here’s the synopsis.

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Sure, Kevin Sorbo went on this same adventure one too many times, but with a hard rock song playing in the background, and loads of blood, we can finally get behind this movie. Check out the trailer after the jump and see Conan in theaters and 3D on August 19th.

by Joe Gillis, May 25 2011 // 3:43 PM

While fans are anxiously awaiting the next big screen incarnations of Superman or Batman, Warner Bros. animation has been hard at work turning out some great animated content for the small screen. One such bit of awesome is the Justice League series.

The show recently wrapped up its second season and now the announcement has come out that the entire season will be available on Blu-ray soon. Here’s all the scoop from the official press release:

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and their DC Comics super hero comrades burst onto the scene in dazzling high definition as Justice League: Season 2 arrives on Blu-ray™ for the first time. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the series’ 26-episode second season will be distributed on Blu-ray™ by Warner Home Video on July 26, 2011 for $39.99 SRP. Order due date is June 21,2011.

Comprised of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl, the Justice League wages war with their own personal demons and internal issues of mistrust and insecurity, all the while battling a most heinous collection of villains led by Darkseid, Brainiac, Solomon Grundy, Amazo, Joker, Vandal Savage and more.

Justice League Season 2 was produced by Bruce Timm and James Tucker. The core voice cast features George Newbern (Superman), Kevin Conroy (Batman), Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman), Michael Rosenbaum (Flash), Phil LaMarr (Green Lantern) Carl Lumbly (Martian Manhunter) and Maria Canals Barrera (Hawkgirl).

The guest cast includes many topline actors from film and television, most notably Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as Joker, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. (The F.B.I.) as Alfred, Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) as Felix Faust, Powers Boothe (Deadwood, 24) as Gorilla Grodd, Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy) as both Clayface and Orion, Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) as Lobo, Dennis Haysbert (24, The Unit) as Kilowog, Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan) as Metamorpho, Eric Roberts (Runaway Train) as Mongul and Robert Picardo (Stargate) as Amazo.

New ‘Conan the Barbarian’ Poster Arrives

by Chris Ullrich, May 11 2011 // 8:00 AM

We’re still on the fence about the upcoming Conan the Barbarian. Sure, it could be cool and star Jason Momoa might just become the “next big thing” and take Arnold’s place as our new favorite Cimmerian warrior.

Or, the film could just as easily go down as yet another in a string of bad ideas that die a quick death at the box office. That’s what makes this business so interesting. Pretty much anything can, and does, happen.

Regardless of what will happen in the future, right now we’ve got the new poster for the film to share with you today. It gives us a good look at the character in action and if the movie ends up looking, and being, this cool, we’re hooked.

Here’s some more info about the film direct from the studio:

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

In addition to Momoa as Conan, the film features Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui and Ron Perlman.  It’s directed by Marcus Nispel and written by Thomas Dean Donnelly & Joshua Oppenheimer and Sean Hood.

Check out the full poster after the jump. Conan the Barbarian hits theaters on August 19th.

We’ve been following this one for quite some time and have been bringing you all the news, including that the film will be in 3D and who would play the legendary character. Now, we’ve got even more in the form of the brand new teaser trailer for the film.

In case you’re not familiar with the story, it concerns “the most legendary barbarian of all time on a quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior but soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds. During the course of the film Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.”

Adapted from the original works of Robert E. Howard and “faithful to the mythology and psychology of his iconic character,” Conan the Barbarian stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan. It is directed by Marcus Nispel.

Check out the teaser after the jump. Conan the Barbarian arrives in theaters on August 19th.

Josh Hartnett Is A Samurai & Other Weird Stuff In The Trailer For ‘Bunraku’

by Sebastian Suchecki, Feb 10 2011 // 10:30 AM

Being a fan of film, you get tired of seeing the same Hollywood tricks and stories retold over and over. There are only so many Adam Sandler or Ben Stiller canned comedies that one can take before becoming jaded. Then a film like Bunraku comes along to shake everything up.

Said to be the stylistic cousin of Sin City, this Russian-made, Romanian-shot, American-cast film sounds about as crazy as the synopsis can write it.

In a world where firearms have been outlawed, and hand-to-hand combat and swordplay have made a comeback, two drifters; a cowboy (Josh Hartnett), and a sword-less samurai (Gackt) wander into a town ruled by warlord Nicola (Ron Perlman) and his chief henchman Killer No. 2 (Kevin McKidd). Both have a score to settle, and are aided by a bartender (Woody Harrelson) with ties to Nicola’s lover (Demi Moore).

It’s films like these, or 2009′s Shoot ‘Em Up that give independent filmmakers hope. If they have a compelling enough script, they can literally get anyone to star in their crazy film. Don’t believe us? Check out the trailer after the jump and judge for yourself.

No word on a release date just yet, but you can expect this film to pick up a considerable amount of momentum next month at South by SouthWest.

FX Orders A Fourth Season Of ‘Sons of Anarchy’

by Matt Raub, Oct 8 2010 // 10:00 AM

While shows like My Generation and Lone Star may be suffering on the bigger networks, cable network FX seems to be doing just fine with their  lineup. As an example, they have just ordered a whole new season of Sons of Anarchy, rounding it up to a total of four years. An FX press release gives us the full details.

FX has renewed its critically acclaimed hit drama Sons of Anarchy for a fourth season, placing a 13-episode order from Fox 21 and FX Productions, announced John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks.

Eight all-new episodes remain in SOA’s current third season airing Tuesdays at 10pm et/pt, and beginning in two weeks the encore runs will air Tuesdays at 11pm and 1am, Fridays at 10pm and Sundays at 10pm. The third season finale will air on Tuesday, November 30.

In 2010, Sons of Anarchy ranks as basic cable’s number one scripted series in delivery of Adults 18-49. On a weekly, multi-telecast basis, Sons of Anarchy delivers 8.6 million Total Viewers and 5.9 million Adults 18-49. On a first-run, primary telecast basis, Sons averages 4.9 million Total Viewers and 3.4 million Adults 18-49. It is the highest rated series ever for FX.

Exclusive: Ron Perlman talks ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Conan’, & The Return of ‘Hellboy’

by Matt Raub, Sep 3 2010 // 10:00 AM

If one could call Chuck Norris a “Man’s Man,” then you should very easily be able to call Ron Perlman a “Geek’s Man.” His work on countless comic and fantasy projects like Hellboy, Alien: Resurrection, Blade, Conan and more has endeared him to fans everywhere, making him our go-to tough guy in the world of geek.

Now, Perlman has found a home on Kurt Sutter’s FX series Sons of Anarchy as, yes, a badass biker. All week long, we’ve brought you new interviews with other notables from the show, and now it’s time for the “Geek’s Man” to take center stage as we have a chat with Ron Perlman himself.

In the interview, Perlman discussed Sons of Anarchy, some of the new projects he has coming up, how much of a relief it is to work on a show that doesn’t require hours of makeup, and how quickly he’d return to the Hellboy franchise.

Check out the full interview after the break. Be sure to catch the season 3 premiere of Sons of Anarchy next Tuesday, September 7th, at 10/9C on FX.

Exclusive: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Creator Kurt Sutter Talks Season 3, Crossover With ‘The Shield’

by Matt Raub, Aug 30 2010 // 11:00 AM

All this week, we’ll be bringing you some great interviews with the cast and creator of FX’s hit series, Sons of Anarchy, as we lead up to the epic season 3 premiere. Kicking it off, we got a chance to speak with the man who started it all, creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter.

Starting off as writer and producer for another FX favorite in The Shield, Sutter got such a taste for gritty crime dramas that he decided to do it himself. Not without taking a few of his own characters over with him.

Sutter spilled the beans on who exactly those crossover characters were, as well as what we can expect to see from some of the upcoming episodes from season 3.

Check out the full interview after the jump, and be sure to catch the season 3 premiere of Sons of Anarchy next Tuesday, September 7th, only on FX.
