It’s beginning to smell a lot like Summer so that means one thing (no, not that). It means Summer blockbuster movies will be coming at us in droves over the next few months all vying for your hard-earned entertainment dollar.
One of those potential blockbusters in Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern, featuring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern. If you’ve been keeping up with the TV spots and trailers then you won’t find much that’s necessarily new in this one released today.
Instead, the extended TV trailer takes the 90 seconds from the previous trailer and adds more footage to fill in the gaps and add scenes never seen before. It looks pretty darn cool.
In addition to Reynolds, Green Lantern also stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Geoffrey Rush, Tim Robbins, Michael Clarke Duncan and Angela Bassett.
Green Lantern hits 2D and 3D theaters on June 17, 2011. Check out the trailer after the jump.

We haven’t seen any of these body-switch comedies in the last couple years but I guess it was inevitable they would return. And, they have with Universal’s newest entry into the genre The Change-Up.
Late yesterday the company released a brand new Red Band trailer for the raunchy body-switching comedy where Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman switch identities and have to deal with the ramifications. Written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the team that brought us The Hangover, and directed by Wedding Crashers helmer David Dobkin, this new film takes the somewhat tired formula and seems to give it a bit of new life.
Yes, the trailer actually has a few funny bits — although that’s not always a good indicator of anything. Still, these two actors are very appealing and it could be good.
Take a look at the trailer after the jump. By clicking through you certify you are old enough to know better blah, blah, blah. The Change-Up hits theaters on August 5th.

As much pressure as a movie game has on it, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is getting an extra added dose as it is the first video game based on the DC comic book property as well. While various Green Lanterns have been featured as supporting cast in other games such as Justice League Heroes, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and DC Universe Online , this will be the first time Hal Jordan will be taking the starring role.
More important than the game’s graphics, story or even voice acting comes the question, will the game make a player feel like the Green Lantern? Some games recently have done a great job putting players in to the role of their headline hero and let players blissfully experience the super hero feel that they expect like Batman: Arkham Asylum or Wolverine: Origins.
Others haven’t been so successful, with the notable example being pretty much any Superman game ever created as the invincible Man of Steel seems to always constantly be in danger of dying.
When it comes to the Green Lantern, especially Hal Jordan, the use of the ring to create solid light constructs is paramount. While some Lanterns just shoot bolts of light, Hal has the creativity of someone from planet Earth backing him, resulting in everything from baseball bats to machine guns.
Take a peek below at how Warner Bros. Interactive has incorporated these concepts in to the in game combat of Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters. While we haven’t gotten our hands on the title yet, seeing these images gives us hope that they understand the excitement behind the prospect of playing as Hal Jordan.

With the upcoming Green Lantern eature film drawing ever closer to release, it is no surprise that there will be a licensed game title coming out around the same time. Enter Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters which will be coming out for the XBox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.
Harness the power of the ultimate weapon! Inspired by the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures’ superhero feature film Green Lantern, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters soars onto game consoles this summer, extending the theatrical experience of one of DC Entertainment’s most popular superheroes. Playing as gifted pilot Hal Jordan, the first human Green Lantern, gamers will create an arsenal of ring constructs and take flight in outer space and beyond to restore intergalactic order. Players will use the Power Ring to build an array of weapons from green energy to defeat the Manhunters – an evil android race bent on destroying the Green Lantern Corps.
Set for June 2011 release, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters will place players in the role of Hal Jordan, the first Green Lantern of Earth, defending Oa from a group of Manhunter androids bent on the destruction of the Corps. The XBox 360 and PlayStation versions will feature the likeness and voiceacting of the film’s star, Ryan Reynolds.
Also exclusive to the next-gen consoles will be optional 3D:
Xbox 360 and PS3™ gamers can play in anaglyphic 3D with technology that is compatible with all standard TV sets and visible while wearing the 3D glasses that come packaged with the videogame product. Fans can also enjoy the game in stereoscopic 3D when playing on any 3D HDTV while wearing active shutter glasses that are compatible with the television.
As you can already see from the screens and trailer below, the game looks to capture some of the more iconic moments of Green Lantern’s combat whether it is creating power beams to shoot enemies to extra large firsts or even complex devices like a Gatling gun for combat. Take a look for yourself and let us know what you think so far about Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters after the jump.

While San Diego Comic-Con still reigns supreme, one of the other big shows on the wast coast every year is San Francisco’s WonderCon. Much like SDCC, this show is for comic fans and movie fans alike, and some studios bring some great footage to share for their upcoming projects.
Luckily, Warner Bros. brought along a whopping four minutes of their upcoming Green Lantern flick, and we’re finally getting a chance to see the tone and some great moments in the movie. That first trailer felt a little to Iron Man-y for many, so this one will definitely help you decide if you’re going to the midnight screening or not.
In the footage, we get plenty of Oa, lots of Mark Strong as Sinestro, and we finally nail down exactly how they squeeze Parallax and Peter Sarsgaard’s Hector Hammond into the movie as two separate villains. For those editing buffs out there, they even managed to sneak a Yourahh! scream into all the chaos.
Take a look at the footage after the jump and catch Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern in theaters on June 17th.

Just yesterday, we brought you news that Michael Clarke Duncan has been recruited to voice the Green Lantern Corps drill instructor Kilowog, despite IMDb stating that the role has already been filled by 24 star Dennis Haysbert.
Now we’re getting word that yet another credit is wrong in the database, as Geoffrey Rush has been announced to voice Tomar-Re in the film and not the credited John Larroquette. Obviously, a few things don’t make sense here.
One: why would a site like IMDb, which is known for its infallible accreditation records, get both of these so very wrong. And two: why are we just getting word about castmembers being picked up for this film when it’s set to hit theaters in just over 2 months?
We’re hoping this was some kind of clerical error on the site, and not an actual re-casting in which we lost Larroquette and Haysbert for Rush and Clarke Duncan. Though, that wouldn’t be the worst trade in the world.
Already in the Green Lantern Corps (we hope for good) are Ryan Reynolds as the titular Lantern, Hal Jordan, Mark Strong as the purple-headed villain Sinestro, and Temuera “Boba Fett” Morrison as Abin Sur.
Green Lantern is set to hit theaters on June 17th.

Just as news for the upcoming Avengers tie-ins is coming in today, Warner Bros. is making sure that they aren’t left in the wind. Rumors are now coming in from Latino Review that famously scary Daredevil star Michael Clarke Duncan will be lending his voice as the grumpy Corps drill instructor Kilowog in this year’s Green Lantern film.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise to most fans of the character, as Duncan seems to be a pretty spot-on choice. He’ll be joining the ranks of Michael Madsen and Henry Rollins, who have both lent their voice for the character in the past.
What we know about the film’s plot is still pretty stagnant. We’ll get Hal Jordan’s origin story, we know that both Dr. Hammond and Parallax will be this film’s main villain, with seeds being sewn for Mark Strong’s Sinestro to be the villain later in the franchise.
The one peculiar part of this story is that the normally infallible IMDb has 24‘s former President Palmer Dennis Haysbert listed as voicing the character. We’re hoping to get down to the truth of this one, seeing as how we only have 2 months until the film’s June 17th release date.

DC Entertainment and Warner Home Video have been on a roll as of late. Their latest release, in the form of adapting Grant Morrison’s All-Star Superman was a massive success, and had great voice work done by names like Christina Hendricks and Anthony LaPaglia. Now, the animation studio is shifting focus onto this year’s big star, Green Lantern, with an animated anthology about Hal Jordan and the whole Green Lantern Corps. Warner Home Video has the full synopsis.
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is an all-new DC Universe Animated Original Movie that weaves six interlocking stories of the Green Lantern Corps’ rich mythology around preparations for an attack by an ancient enemy.
As the battle approaches, Hal Jordan (voiced by Nathan Fillion, Castle) mentors new recruit Arisia (Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men) in the history of the Green Lantern Corps, telling tales of Avra (the first Green Lantern) and several of Hal’s comrades – including Abin Sur, Kilowog, Laira and Mogo.
In the end, Arisia must rise to the occasion to help Hal, Sinestro and the entire Green Lantern Corps save the universe from the destructive forces of Krona.
So for the first time since the epic fan film done over a year ago, fans can finally combine Nathan Fillion with the Green Lantern in their minds again, and this time it will be legitimate.
Fans can catch Emerald Knights on Blu-Ray and DVD June 7th as the promotion ramps up for this summer’s highest anticipated films, Green Lantern, in theaters on June 17th.

Despite staying busy as the star of ABC’s Castle, we’re learning that Nathan Fillion will also be starring as Hal Jordan in an animated tie-in to this summer’s live-action DC Comic adaptation, Green Lantern. Set to release June 7, 2011 from Warner Bros Animation, the animated flick will star some amazing voice talent including Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Jason Isaacs (‘Harry Potter’), Kelly Hu (Hawaii Five-0, The Vampire Diaries), rocker/actor/spoken-word artist Henry Rollins and last-but-not-least, ex-wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
TV Guide is serving up an exclusive first-look of Fillion (pictured above) as he takes to the microphone in his unmistakable ‘Green Lantern’ tee-shirt. Fillion spoke briefly with TV Guide about his fanboy glee over being chosen to voice an iconic comic character like The Green Lantern:
“I was always reading the comic books, I was always a spectator,”Fillion told TV Guide. “Now I feel like I own a little piece of Green Lantern.“
Warner Bros Animation is planning to release ‘Green Lantern: Emerald Knights’ a mere 10 days before the release of the feature film starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. With Fillion and Reynolds both alumni of ABC’s ‘Two Guys and a Girl,’ there seems to be nothing but respect between the two actors.
“He’s a great guy, a gem, deserves all the success that he’s getting,” says Fillion, “so it’s neat to have a little piece and share it with someone you know.“
As a huge fan of Nathan Fillion, I’m eagerly awaiting the June 7th release date of ‘Emerald Knights.’ And wow, summer 2011 is shaping up to be an amazing season for comic book-based flicks. With ‘Thor’ releasing in May, ‘Green Lantern’ in June, and ‘Captain America’ in July, it’s going to be an outstanding time to be a fanboy.
So what are you looking forward to this summer? Be sure to let us know in the comments section.

As many were aware, yesterday was potentially a historic day for both comic book fans and video gamers alike, as DC Universe Online, the largest MMO role playing game for both the PS3 console and the PC with actual licensed characters, hit shelves everywhere in the US. The game is said to be a landmark in the way comic fans and gamers cross over, and could even be huge for more cross-platform marketing.
DC Entertainment has quite a big year ahead of it in the box office as well, with their first big-budget, costumed live action flick since Dark Knight hits theaters with Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern. You can expect to see plenty of marketing between now and the film’s June release, even in-game marketing with DCUO. From Heat Vision:
Jim Lee, co-publisher of DC Entertainment and executive creative director for DCUO, said that while the game will remain focused on 75 years of comic book lore, future expansions of the game will tie into film events like Warners’ The Green Lantern.

It’s here! Just when we thought we’d have to wait a WHOLE 3 days to get a glimpse at the full Green Lantern trailer, it’s now made it’s way online. Of course there were a few poor bootleg copies making it’s way around the web yesterday, but this is the real deal.
If you haven’t heard of the character, or just want to know how they’re going to bring our favorite Emerald Hero to the silver screen, here’s the full synopsis.
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.
Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
Check out the full trailer after the jump. Green Lantern is set to hit theaters June 17th, 2011.
