This year’s Comic-Con International was looking like it would be a bit lame with studios like Marvel, Paramount, Warner Bros, and other big companies dropping out of the festivities entirely. That means we won’t be seeing massive lines for Hall H and a glimpse at Henry Cavill in the Superman suit or footage of Thor and Hulk whomping on each other.
Instead we’re getting some of the lesser known properties in that famous football stadium-sized room known as “Hall H” such as The Knights of Badassdom and Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil. With the very first day of programming for the ‘Con announced, it looks like we’re going to be getting just that, and a truck load of TV.
One good note is that all things Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 will be in the early half of Thursday, leaving the rest of the weekend vampire free (except for those Southern vamps from True Blood).
Check out the full day’s schedule after the jump, and head to their official Scheduler app, so you can make official the things you want to see that weekend!
Now that San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is officially behind us, we thought it would be fun to put together a montage at some of the stuff we did and people we talked to during the show. Some of it you’ve seen, and some of it you may have to wait to see, but it’s all here in one finished package.
With San Diego Comic-Con kicking off in mere hours, you can expect to see plenty of news in the film, TV, and maybe even comic book world make it’s way across the internets. In the meantime, we’ve got a brand new look at two of Marvel’s next upcoming projects in Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Brand new production concept art have been released for both films, which will be given away during Comic-Con at the Marvel booth. Each image shows off the main character in an epic battle sequence that, hopefully, we’ll get to see flushed out on the big screen in a matter of months.
The first shows off Chris Evans in his Captain America uniform, on the battlefield, shield in tow, deflecting bullets and taking names. This is the first new image we’ve seen of Evans (even though its a render) in the new Cap costume.
The second image gives us a tease of an epic battle sequence happening between Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Tim Hiddleston’s Loki, as they no doubt will duke it out in in the final act of the film. If this image is any indicator, we can expect Thor to be as majestic and action-packed as it’s source material.
If you’re headed to San Diego this week, grab a copy of each at Marvel’s BoothCheck out both images for yourself after the jump, catch Thor in theaters on May 6th and Captain America: The First Avenger on July 22nd, 2011.
Now that we have your attention: NO, this is not a hoax, and YES, this is actually a fan-made trailer of the footage shown during last week’s San Diego Comic-Con. Done by the cool dudes over at ScreenCrave.com, this is a shot-for-shot, word-for-word reenacted (or “sweded”) version of the trailer that was shown to the lucky thousands who waited for a seat in Hall H. Only with this one, it was done in a few hours on the streets of San Diego.
Note the authenticity and intricacy of the soft drink lid as Iron Man’s nuclear powered heart or the paper-and-pen combination for Nick Fury’s eye patch. Also note the interesting casting decision when selecting their Don Cheadle. The video is a laugh riot but more importantly you get the idea of what the trailer was like.
After the first run through, your brain knows to replace the main actor with Robert Downy Jr. and the white dude with a post-it on his face with Sam Jackson, so it’s almost like you’re getting the full experience.
Check out the video after the jump, and prepare to laugh.
Things are really starting to heat up on the San Diego Comic-Con front this week with more and more studios and networks announcing their schedules and what talent they will be bringing to the show. This time around we’ve got the word from a network with some of our favorite shows on it including 24 and Dollhouse. I’m talking, of course, about Fox.
The kind PR folks at the network sent us over their Comic-Con schedule so we could share it with you. According to Variety, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which runs from July 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center, will see an ever greater TV and network presence then in years past. Networks and studios plan to showcase even more shows than ever at the con, making it more and more into an invaluable promotional tool where Hollywood can publicize new shows to the 126,000 fans who head there each year.
Positive reaction to early footage seen in San Diego can generate strong buzz across the Internets that could make or break a show well before its debut. And now that we have Twitter, the buzz can build almost immediately.
Here’s what some of the studios and networks will be bringing to San Diego this year:
* Warner Bros. is bringing 11 shows, the most ever for the company. These include new shows Eastwick, Human Target, Past Life, V and The Vampire Diaries, as well as returning series Fringe, The Big Bang Theory, Chuck, Smallville, Supernatural and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
