Latest Trailer for ‘Only God Forgives’ Arrives

by Joe Gillis, Apr 19 2013 // 9:00 AM

only-god-forgives-1

We’re big fans of director Nicolas Winding Refn and in particular his previous effort Drive. Now he’s back with a new film, again featuring Ryan Gosling, and we’ve got a trailer for it to share with you today.

The Bangkok-set crime pic stars Gosling as the scion of a drug-smuggling family who runs a Thai boxing club and is sent on a quest for vengeance by his mother (Kristin Scott Thomas).

Whatever, we’re in. Check out the trailer for Only God Forgives after the break.

First Trailer for ‘R.I.P.D.’ Arrives

by Joe Gillis, Apr 17 2013 // 3:30 PM

RIPD-set-photo-1

We try not to be cynical, but sometimes it isn’t easy. It’s sad, too, because we really like Jeff Bridges and we can usually tolerate Ryan Reynolds.

Unfortunately, this trailer for Universal’s upcoming R.I.P.D. doesn’t do much to fill us with confidence. Sure, it does feature Bridges and Reynolds in a story about “two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.”

And yes, Bridges looks pretty cool plus we do like the comic this is adapted from. But sorry, no. It just doesn’t do that much for us. At least not yet.

Judge for yourself after the break. Look for R.I.P.D. to arrive on June 28th.

Check This Out: First Trailer for the New Starz Series ‘Black Sails’

by Joe Gillis, Apr 17 2013 // 11:30 AM

Toby-Stephens-Black-Sails

On Starz We’ve had Romans and a slave uprising, Da Vinci and his amazing innovations, a guy who runs a hotel and has to fight with the mob and a lot more. One thing that’s been missing is pirates. Fortunately, Starz is about ready to remedy that situation with its new, upcoming series Black Sails.

“The eight-episode first season centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men, and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic “Treasure Island.” Toby Stephens (Die Another Day) stars as Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver.

Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day – a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality.”

Check out the trailer after the break. Look for Black Sails to air later this year.

Latest ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer Arrives and Makes Us Believe A Man Can Fly (Again)

by Joe Gillis, Apr 16 2013 // 5:15 PM

superman-man-of-steel

Today has been a great day for trailers, especially if you’re a fan of sci-fi or comic book action. First, the new Star Trek: Into Darkness trailer arrives and now we’ve got a brand new Man of Steel trailer too.

In this one we get much more Superman action as well as some more insight into the movie itself and the cast of characters surrounding the Man of Steel.

We also get some great Superman action and a bit more, shall we say, humanity than we’ve seen in awhile from a Zack Snyder movie. We like it, and so will you.

Check it all out after the break. Look for Man of Steel to arrive in theaters on June 14th.

Brand New ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Trailer Arrives

by Joe Gillis, Apr 15 2013 // 12:15 PM

ID_D16_06832_R2.JPG

The Hunger Games. What can you say about it? Well, it was a decent book that spawned a decent movie.

It also features the very cute Jennifer Lawrence, which doesn’t hurt. Of course, there’s a sequel, and it’s called Cathing Fire.

Of course again, a new trailer for the movie dropped during last night’s MTV Movie Awards. Don’t get us started on how useless the awards are, just enjoy the new trailer.

Or, don’t. No pressure. We won’t judge you either way. Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson are back for the Francis Lawrence (no relation)-directed November 22 sequel.

Check out the teaser after the break.

You Know You Want To See This: Full Trailer for ‘The Hangover’ Part 3 Drops

by Joe Gillis, Apr 11 2013 // 11:30 AM

hangover-part-3-1

What can you say about The Hangover “franchise” that hasn’t already been said? Sure, it features an odd cast that for some reason clicks together very well, an absurd premise that for some reason works very well and many other elements that, on paper, should have probably made the first movie a flop — or at the very least relegated to DVD.

Well, as you know, that didn’t happen. In fact, the first one was a monster hit that spawned a sequel and made household names of its stars. And now, we’re in for the final chapter of the franchise: The Hangover Part 3.

The first full trailer has dropped today for the movie and it’s pretty much what you would expect. Although, that may have a lot to do with the fact that with this trailer, the marketing department is trying to give you more of the same to help you remember why you loved these movies in the first place. Expect some different trailers and such later on.

Meantime, check out this new one after the break. Look for The Hangover Part 3 to hit theaters on May 24th.

Sinestro Isn’t the Only Yellow Lantern Coming to ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’

by John Carle, Apr 11 2013 // 8:00 AM

Two Hal Jordans Cover Image

Back in February we revealed that the leader of the Yellow Lanterns, a.k.a. the Sinestro Corps, would be taking one of the roster spots in Injustice: Gods Among Us to act as the opposition to Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern. It only made sense with NetherRealm Studios working on the game that you’d need a yellow Scorpion to counteract the emerald Sub-Zero.

So it ended up being a huge surprise when yesterday a new video emerged that shed some light into Hal Jordan’s story when he saw… himself.

In the latest trailer released this week, check out Hal Jordan vs. Hal Jordan as the man who has found himself at one point a member of pretty much every Corps wearing both the green and yellow as he takes on himself. As you’ll see from the trailer though, this isn’t just a reskin for a fantasty match. This looks to take place within Hal’s actual story during Injustice: Gods Among Us as both Hal and his Justice League compatriots react to what is happening.

This just adds to the already interesting mythos that is being associated with the game as it sees both Superman and Lex Luthor on the same side and a clone of Hal Jordan attacking himself.

Check out the full trailer after the jump.

This Looks Fun: New Trailer for Ron Howard’s ‘Rush’ With Chris Hemsworth

by Joe Gillis, Apr 8 2013 // 5:00 PM

rush-hemsworth-1

Racing is fun. Racing is cool. Who doesn’t like fast cars and action? That’s right, nobody.

In fact, we’re pretty interested and very ready to like the upcoming movie Rush featuring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl. The international trailer for the Formula 1 racing pic dropped today.

The two actors star as James Hunt and Niki Lauda, extraordinary rivals who dominated the sport in the 1970s. Peter Morgan wrote the script and Universal has set a September 20 release date.

Check out the trailer after the break.

First Full Trailer for ‘Carrie’ with Chloe Moritz and Julianne Moore Arrives

by Joe Gillis, Apr 5 2013 // 10:30 AM

carrie-chloe-moritz-1

We’ve gone down this road once before in 2002 with a remake of Brian De Palma’s classic Carrie, based on the Stephen King novel, and now it’s being done again. This time around the movie features Chloe Moritz and Julianne Moore, which helps considerably to peak our interest.

In case you’re not familiar with the story, it concerns a loner high school girl whose crazy mom and the mean kids at school eventually get the brunt of her blossoming telekinetic powers. IF you’ve even wished you could get even with someone bullying you, this is the movie for you.

We’re not sure any remake will ever be as good as De Palma’s original, but this trailer does help at least make this latest attempt look interesting enough so we want to know more. That’s something at least.

Carrie is due to hit theaters on October 18th. Check out the trailer after the break.

Speaking of Trailers, Here’s the Latest One for Baz Luhrmann’s ‘The Great Gatsby’

by Joe Gillis, Apr 4 2013 // 12:30 PM

gatsby-dicaprio-1

As with many things these days, this movie is either going to be the greatest thing ever, or an unmitigated disaster. I don’t believe there’s going to be any middle ground this time.

To what movie am I referring? Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. As a director, he’s been kinda hit or miss. However, he’s really stacked the deck this time with Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and many other major players. Plus, the movie is chock full of contemporary music, much as Baz likes to do, which may appeal to many.

However, Gatsby is as much a movie about its times as it is a tale of forbidden love, jealousy, class struggles music and murder. So you have to wonder if the contempory music and 3D will hurt what Fitzgerald inteneded as his message in the novel.

Or maybe that doesn’t matter ’cause it sure does look pretty. Check out the new trailer after the break.

‘This Is The End’ Red Band Trailer Released, Is Completely Awesome

by Lou Devito, Apr 2 2013 // 1:45 PM

this-is-the-end-trailer-1

April Fools Day is usually a day that brings tons of fake news, including trailer releases (like that Legend of Zelda trailer that will never be made into a movie *sadface*). But this year, April 1st was the release date of the red band trailer for the unbelievably star-packed action comedy This Is The End starring James Franco (who has had an already packed 2013 with the release of Spring Breakers and Oz The Great and Powerful), Seth Rogen, Emma Watson, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, and that’s just the supposed “main cast.” From just watching the trailer, expect appearances by Michael Cera, Rihanna, Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, Mindy Kaling, and more. Holy freaking casting!

The main plot of the movie is simple: James Franco is throwing a kick-ass party and invites all his friends (because celebrities always party with tons of other celebrities) to have a crazy good time. Until the apocalypse happens. Los Angeles is engulfed in fire and brimstone, monsters and aliens are running rampant, people are looting and killing, mass hysteria basically.

Eventually, the main cast barricade themselves in what’s left of Franco’s house and try to survive. At one point, Emma Watson breaks in with an ax (a freaking AX) to try her hand at some looting, which looks to be successful based on the apparent self-testimonial video that is shot by the guys who are documenting what’s going on during the end of days.

This Trailer for ‘The Wolverine’ Makes Us Almost Forget That Last Wolverine Movie

by Joe Gillis, Mar 27 2013 // 10:15 AM

The Wolverine

Sure, everyone loves Hugh Jackman. And everyone loves it when Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine. Sadly, not everyone loved the last movie where Jackman played Wolverine.

Yes, X-Men Origins: Wolverine wasn’t all it could have been, so this time around the producers and director of The Wolverine are trying to make sure fans are satisfied. Based on this new international trailer, it looks like that effort might just pay off.

In this new movie, bad news Wolverine goes to Japan where he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee and Hiroyuki Sanada co-star.

Check out the trailer after the break. Look for The Wolverine to hit theaters on July 26th.

Paul Walker Loves Cars In a New Trailer for ‘Vehicle 19′

by Joe Gillis, Mar 26 2013 // 10:30 AM

paul-walker-vehicle-19

Say what you will about the relative merits of a franchise like Fast and the Furious (we have), but one thing it does have going for it is cool car chases and other vehicle-related action. It also features Paul Walker.

There’s also another movie hitting theaters soon featuring Walker and cars, but it isn’t part of the Fast and Furious franchise. It’s called Vehicle 19.

In it Walker plays a recent parolee who picks up the wrong rental car after a long flight. He soon realizes he’s the target of an entire police force after discovering the tied-up female “passenger” in the trunk.

In addition to Walker, the movie stars Naima McLean, Gys de Villiers, Leyla Haidarian, and Tshepo Maseko. And no, Vin Diesel is nowhere in sight.

Check out the trailer for Vehicle 19 after the break. Look for it to arrive later this year.

DC Enters the MOBA with ‘Infinite Crisis’

by John Carle, Mar 26 2013 // 8:00 AM

Infinite Crisis Cover Image

Well one thing you have always got to give DC credit for is they are willing to give everything a shot with their gaming properties. From action titles like Superman 64 and Aquaman (which let’s be honest meant that they could only go up from there) to DC Universe Online and the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us, they seem to have no problem trying to figure out which genre their games fit into best. Now, less than a month before the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us, they have announced that they are stepping into the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena with Infinite Crisis for the PC.

As you’ll see in the trailer below, Infinite Crisis isn’t your ordinary DC game. With alternate worlds and the ability to control both heroes and villains, Infinite Crisis is going to lend itself to some creative matchups and hopefully and even more creative art style. Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Zatanna and alternate versions of themselves will face off against the likes of the Joker, Doomsday, Poison Ivy and their dopplegangers in a five on five MOBA style game. I mean, it was a good fit for Lord of the Rings so why not have DC make a go at it as well?

‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Gets Season Pass and Black Adam and Raven

by John Carle, Mar 22 2013 // 9:15 AM

Injustice Season Pass Cover Image

After NetherRealm’s success with their DLC packs for Mortal Kombat, its no surprise that they are already planning out the DLC for their upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us. And what better way to distribute DLC than with a season pass. It was announced yesterday that the season pass for Injustice: Gods Among Us will include four new characters and a special exclusive costume pack.

Also announced as a member of the Injustice roster, who you can check out in the trailer below, is Raven. Most well known for her role in founding the New Teen Titans. Adding another female to the roster, Raven’s mythical powers give her distinct advantages against even powerhouses like Superman. She will also have the opportunity to face off against former teammates like Nightwing and Cyborg.
