Get Your First Look at Marvel’s ‘Age of Apocalypse’ #1

by Joe Gillis, Feb 7 2012 // 4:30 PM

What’s with all these mutants? All they seem to want to do is fight with each other. Can’t we all just get along?

Fortunately, at least if you’re a fan of Marvel’s sprawling mutant epics, we can’t. And this latest series looks to continue the tradition.

Here’s all the info from the official press release:

Spinning out of the critically acclaimed Uncanny X-Force, the Amazing X-Men and the human resistance must fight tooth and nail to end the tyranny that has left their world ravaged! Continuing Apocalypse’s war on humanity, Weapon X leads the genocide that rains down upon this dimension, eliminating any who stand in his way.

“This new Age of Apocalypse book does the impossible – it revolutionizes an old concept without a reboot,” explains Senior Editor Nick Lowe. “If you’ve been reading Uncanny X-Force, you know where this is coming from and you’re already in.”

“If you’re an Age of Apocalypse junkie, this builds on the alternate universe’s mythology is fascinating and troubling ways. And if you aren’t either and just want a ground-breaking, easy-entry book that will challenge everything you know about the X-Men, there hasn’t been a better jumping on point.”

Age of Apocalypse #1, written by Dave Lapham and pencils by Roberto De La Torre, hist store shelves on March 7. Check out some preview pages after the break.

Get Your First Look at Marvel’s ‘Uncanny X-Force’ #12

by Joe Gillis, Jun 30 2011 // 3:42 PM

It may come as a surprise to some of you but in addition to watching our favorite marvel characters on the big screen we also like reading their adventures in comic book form. Some of our favorite characters of all time are the X-Men and we’ve enjoyed their various exploits and incarnations in comics featuring over the years.

One such comic is Uncanny X-Force. We’re read it since issue one and today, we’ve got a preview of the upcoming twelfth issue of the comic. With story by Rick Remender and art by Mark Brooks and Dean White, issue #12 deals with the “Dark Angel Saga” and centers on the X-Force “who must find a Celestial Life Seed before Archangel succumbs to the darkness within him.”

“But when the alternate reality’s twisted versions of Earth’s mightiest stand in their way – will they be too late? Can they halt the coming of a new Apocalypse?” Now that sounds good.

Check out a preview for the new comic after the jump. Look for Uncanny X-Force #12 to hit comic book shops on July 27th.

Marvel Helps Fans Get Back Into Comics With The Point One Program

by Matt Raub, Dec 3 2010 // 7:00 AM

Want to jump back into your favorite comic books to check in with some of your favorite superheroes and superheroines, but unable to pick up the pieces in the middle of a heavy storyline? Marvel has you covered by introducing the Point One program. Here’s the skinny.

The Point One program offers readers the perfect starting point for new storylines spinning out of the new year. Self-contained and featuring some of Marvel’s greatest talent and characters, these Point One books will lay the groundwork for a whole year’s worth of storytelling.

For years, this is the one problem that the comic book industry has dealt with. Now, fans can start fresh and continue getting weekly comics courtesy of Marvel without feeling like there are tons of back issues and trades that they have to read.

Starting in February, the publisher will be rolling out this new program on some of their mainstream titles, and eventually roll them out to all big books by May. Take a look at the complete list of effected books after the jump, and start picking up these new books this February.

First Trailer for ‘Uncanny X-Force’ Comic Arrives

by Joe Gillis, Sep 8 2010 // 11:00 AM

It’s a good day when we get a new trailer for a cool comic. Fortunately, today is one of those days.

As in the past with motion comics like Astonishing X-Men and Spider-Woman, we’ve got a new trailer for an upcoming comic to share with you today. This one is from Uncanny X-Force and like the previous ones, this new one looks to be pretty darn cool.

Here’s the scoop on the trailer and the comic’s story directly from Marvel:

After Cyclops disbands Wolverine’s black-ops group, Logan assembles a brand new team to face a deadly new threat, courtesy of fan favorite creators Rick Remender, Jerome Opena and Dean White in Uncanny X-Force #1. Now get an exclusive look at the first issue—and the team’s deadly new mission—in this all-new trailer. You can’t miss Uncanny X-Force #1, in stores October 6.

Even though this isn’t a motion comic exactly it still manages to capture the story and look of the comic itself. And yeah, it moves a bit too.

Click through to check out the new trailer.
