Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! The fall of the Hulks begins, Mogo dishes out his brand of justice and both Geo-Force and the Sentry lose their marbles. As always, WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
PULL OF THE WEEK:
Dark Avengers #13
Marvel Comics – $3.99 US
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mike Deodato
Score: 8.5/10
The Marvel Universe has seen better days. While the disassembling of Earth’s mightiest heroes led to the breakout of a civil war, a secret invasion became the catalyst to Norman Osborn’s dark reign, and with the siege of Asgard on the horizon, surely things couldn’t get worse (see what I did there?), could it? The Sentry’s true origin is revealed, answering once and for all that, yes, things can get worse…much worse.
Just when I thought all the pieces were on the table, Brian Michael Bendis takes the much-maligned Sentry and turns him loose. With this latest revelation of how the Sentry came to be – not to mention how he’s more unstable than anyone thought – Bendis has taken a tragic figure and made him the definitive x-factor for the Siege event. Whether or not the character winds up saving the day or becoming the most dangerous player is still up in the air, and that’s just a tad frightening.
This issue is all about the eyes. Artist Mike Deodato nailed every beat of this issue by letting the eyes of the characters tell the story, which really focused on the horror of what resides within the Sentry’s mind. From the Sentry, the Sentry’s wife, Lindy and even Osborn himself, the eyes served notice that something wicked this way comes. For even more justification, take a gander at that last page.

Yes folks, it’s that time again here at The Flickcast. Recap time. In this edition we’ve got clips and previews for some of NBC’s shows including Mercy and the soon to be on his own Conan O’Brien from The Tonight Show. First up on Mercy, Veronica’s patient last night was an interesting one and didn’t look all that bad for a man who wakes up from a ten year coma.
Next, Conan had some pretty good guests on his show last night and the love fest continued. The very funny Adam Sandler and Community’s Joel McHale stopped by. Joel even made a very generous offer – to let Conan host his show The Soup.
He wasn’t the only NBC actor to support Conan as Ed Helms of The Office also stopped in (and brought his piano) for a quick song: a remix of his song from The Hangover with lyrics just for Conan. Oh, and apparently some sort of Masturbating Bear was also there.
Check out all the video clips after the jump.

I’m a sucker for movies about country singers. Despite the fact that listening to country music makes my ears bleed, I never pass up on a good country drama. The genre traditionally leans toward biopics (Coal Miner’s Daughter, Sweet Dreams, Pure Country, Walk the Line) and Crazy Heart is no exception.
Jeff Bridges plays Bad Blake, a washed up Country/Blues musician who has been relegated to performing in bowling alleys and other undignified venues. Blake is a raging alcoholic who stumbles off the stage mid-performance to go puke, then returns to finish a set. He drives his pick-up from town to town and beds middle age women who still remember him from his golden days.
He tersely thrusts his show notes to whatever band he happens to be playing with that night, and can’t be bothered to rehearse. It’s a gamble as to whether he will even show up on a given night, and to what condition he’ll be in.
To make matters worse, his former protégé, Tommy Sweet (Colin Farrell), has become a country music superstar, and regularly plays to packed stadiums. There is clearly some bad blood between the two, because anytime Sweet’s name is brought up, Blake bristles.

This week, those of you who love the Mac but need to use Windows 7 for some reason, just got a little more help from Apple as the company has updated Bootcamp to support Windows 7. The Boot Camp 3.1 update consists of a single .exe file download that you need to run in Windows 7 once it’s installed. Or you can just run Apple Software Update if you’re already using Windows 7 on your Mac.
The update provides the necessary Windows 7 drivers for various pieces of Mac hardware including the Mighty Mouse. Boot Camp version 3.1 supports the 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows 7 and Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate are supported as part of the update as well.
With the upgrade in software and support for new drivers and utilities, if you need Windows 7 to run certain software, processes, or perhaps you prefer to use Windows for things like coding and development, now you can. Although, not sure why you would want to if you have a Mac. But hey, we don’t judge here.
Apple has also published a support document that details a number of installation problems for Windows 7, plus a tool to assist with upgrades from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

Even though it seemed Conan O’Brien was getting kinda shafted by his corporate masters at NBC, it looks now like he’ll at least come out ok in one area: a big settlement. According to Yahoo News, NBC is confirming that they have reached a deal with Conan O’Brien and the check has quite a few digits on it.
According to the terms of the deal, Conan’s last show will be this Friday night and NBC has agreed to pay Conan and his staff $45 Million for their troubles. $32.5 Million will go to Conan himself while the rest of the money goes to his staff, most of whom moved to Los Angeles from New York with Conan to do the show.
Obviously, they thought the show would last longer than 7 months so it made sense to move to LA. That’s what they get for thinking, right? It’s also being reported elsewhere that as part of the terms of the deal Conan is allowed to take very few elements of the show with him should he choose to go to another network. Let’s just hope the Masturbating Bear is one of them he can take.
Jay Leno returns to The Tonight Show on March 1.

Avatar may be raking in zillions of dollars week after week, but we like to look to the future of IMAX and 3D, as Disney is getting set to release Tron Legacy in December of this year. The effects alone should bring in plenty of Avatar super fans to the theater, not to mention the generation that grew up with the first Tron, who will undoubtedly bring their families to the sequel.
While some of us got an up-close encounter with the blue lightcycle from the upcoming Tron Legacy back in July, we were still hungry for more..well, more colored lightcycles, frankly. Finally, we’ve got another pic to salivate over.
Tron Legacy, starring Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, John Hurt, and Garrett Hedlund, hits theaters on December 17th.
Our pals over at MTV Movies Blog have got the exclusive first look at the sleek new lightcycle, which you can check out after the jump. We’ve seen yellow and blue, when do we get a glimpse at the other colors?

Ryan Reynolds is a pretty busy guy. Not only is casting news and general buzz generating for his titular role in DC’s upcoming Green Lantern, but the writers have already been hired for the Deadpool script, which will begin shooting when he’s done donning his emerald ring.
Somewhere in there, he’s had the time to shoot Rodrigo Cortés’ thriller about a U.S. contractor who’s kidnapped by a group of Iraqis and buried alive. The film has already gotten plenty of buzz from Sundance, but may have the same misfortune that The Hurt Locker got at the Golden Globes.
The very first teaser trailer for the film has been released, which almost takes a turn in a viral direction. In the film, Reynolds is stuck underground, in his own would-be tomb, with only a lighter and a cell phone. One can’t imagine that this film cost Transformers money.
Check out the teaser trailer after the jump, and expect to hear more about a U.S. release date as studios bid for distribution rights.

This week on The Flickcast, Matt and Chris fly solo as they take on Sunday’s Golden Globes. Some surprises, some reliefs, and Matt talks Christina Hendricks while Chris talks Mo’Nique. They also discuss some other stories making waves including Apple’s announcement next week, and what that could mean for users of the iPhone, as well as Marc Webb getting to take on the reboot of Spider-Man.
Since it was just the two of them this week, Chris and Matt both got cocky and opted for two picks. Matt went with The Adventures of Power, an indie comedy starring Ari Gold (not Jeremy Piven) and the silver screen adaptation of Tucker Max’s I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell, which hits DVD on January 26th. Chris also had two picks, as he went with Paul Thoman Anderson’s Magnolia on Blu-ray, which we’ll have a review of next week, and Whiteout starring Kate Beckinsale.
Sorry for the tardiness of the episode, but due to how much Matt and Chris gushed about the Golden Globes, we think it’s well worth the wait. As usual, if you have any comments, questions, critiques or offers of sponsorship, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter and at Facebook, MySpace or via email.

From The Hollywood Reporter comes news that AMC, the cable network that has given the world Mad Men and Breaking Bad (we’ll just forget that The Prisoner remake ever happened) has officially picked up the pilot for The Walking Dead.
The show is based off the comic book series, created by Robert Kirkman and published through Image Comics. “Master of all things” Frank Darabont, having made the movies The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, will be joining the project as well.
Darabont is currently attached as executive producer, writer, and most impressively director of the (hopefully successful) pilot.
The comic book series follows a group of survivors after a zombie invasion that has, naturally, destroyed all of civilization, along with the pressures and drama that stem from that. There’s no word on how closely the pilot will stay to the original material, or casting of any of the characters. Unfortunately, and most importantly, there is currently no set date on when I can start watching it!

Since we got to take a look at Darksiders for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con and get our hands on it this past fall at the Big Apple Con, the game has piqued our interest over here at the Flickcast. With a story that could have been ripped either from the silver screen, the chance to step in to the boots of War, one of the four horseman of the apocalypse, has been an opportunity we were looking forward to experiencing.
The brainchild of Battle Chasers creator Joe Madureira, it was interesting to see how someone so versed in the art of comic book storytelling would be able to translate to the epically different medium of interactive entertainment.
Gameplay:
The concept behind Darksiders comes across like it would be a simple hack and slash adventure game. For those expecting a Ninety-Nine Nights or Dynasty Warriors style game where War runs through thousands of enemies, Darksiders makes sure to add a layer of depth one wouldn’t expect in the game.
While there are tons of enemies to rip in half, impale and crush the skull of, the real fun of Darksiders comes from its puzzles. Inevitably compared to The Legend of Zelda series, War is much more cunning than one would expect. Using items similar to Link’s Boomerang or Portal’s Portal Gun, War must uncover hidden passages and solve environmental quandaries to progress in his quest.

As if the geek community (myself included) wasn’t excited enough when Adidas announced their line of Star Wars themed clothes last month, but the clothing company just amped up their marketing with a sexy new commercial, which should get plenty of people ready.
The commerical, which suspiciously aired just in time for the Super Bowl in a few weeks, shows off plenty of the new articles of clothing, including the X-Wing shoes and Darth Vader hoodie.
The clothes are certainly worth a purchase from any true fan of Lucas’ universe, regardless of age. Check out Adidas’ official site for the line, and be sure to get even more excited by watching the new commercial after the jump.

In some alternate dimension, it’s Lee Van Cleef who rocketed to squinty-eyed fame after The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Clint Eastwood just kept doing spaghetti westerns in Europe, never to be seen in a serape again and starring in movies like Captain Apache.
I don’t know much about Van Cleef, and why he favored working in Italy and Spain. I’m guessing it was because Hollywood would only give him villainous roles, and he wanted to be the laconic badass who got the girl. Overseas, he was a star. But it also meant he had to make films like Captain Apache where all that presence is completely and utterly wasted. But hey, he did get to sing the theme song! (See, he is Bizarro World Eastwood.)
The plot is incomprehensible. Van Cleef informs us over the theme tune (I’m not kidding) that they call him Captain Apache and that “they” try to trick him regularly. He’s a franchise character without a franchise in that mythic way that only 1970s cinema could aspire to. For the record, “they” don’t actually call him Captain Apache, they call him “Red Ass.” I can’t imagine why they didn’t use that as the title.
Captain Apache is sent to investigate a murder, which has something to do with a man selling guns to Mexicans and Indians, and something called “April Morning.” From there on, you’re on your own. But there’s a witch, a peyote trip, creepy twins dressed as the Mad Hatter, and women who will go to bed with anyone.
