Fans of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s first ultra-violent kid-superhero romp, Kick-Ass will have something special in store for them at the comic store today. Kick-Ass 2, the second volume of the popular comic arrives in stores today.
In the new story-arc, Hit-Girl is adopted by a cop following the death of her father and is no longer allowed to engage in hero activity. While Hit-Girl lays low, the story’s main villain, Red Mist hires a bad-ass girl from Russia to help him exact revenge for his family’s death at the hands of Kick-Ass and company. He goes online and influences a new bunch of young villains to take up his fight.
Soon enough, gangs from across New York are filming their atrocities and putting them on the internet in an attempt to out-do each other. All in all, it sounds like more of the same ultra-violent and foul-mouthed comic goodness we’ve come to expect from Millar and Romita Jr. And of course, the question now is what about the second flick?
While IMDB already has an entry for the flick, Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, and is showing a 2012 release, Millar talked with MTV and outlined what would need to happen to make that release on-time.

You have to love the Internets. Things tend to come out or people are more likely to release things these days because they know they will probably end up with a pretty decent sized audience. Recently, we had video of a young Eric Stoltz as the first Marty McFly in Back to the Future and now actress Sean Young brings us video she shot while making David Lynch’s epic, yet flawed, masterpiece Dune.
Shot during 1983 while Young was in production on the film in Mexico, the video shows much of the cast and crew (including co-stars Sting and Kyle MacLachlan) hard at work attempting to realize director Lynch’s vision. If only we could hear what they were saying instead of just seeing them. Oh well, still love the Super 8 camera.
It’s always interesting to watch videos like this and be able to go back and see how things used to be. Plus, insights into a film so many have mixed feelings about are always appreciated. For me, the film was somewhat confusing and a bit of a mess when I first experienced it. But as time has gone on I’ve started to have more of an appreciation for it but haven’t seen it in some time.
This video only serves to spark my interest again. Maybe it’s time for a re-watch? Check out the video after the break.

It’s been four years since players found themselves locked in a shopping mall with a group of survivors, psychopaths, and oh yea, a horde of the undead. The much applauded Dead Rising came out for the XBox 360 under the simple premise of almost everything being a weapon and everything that isn’t a weapon is trying to kill you. Now, changing scenery (sort of) in Dead Rising 2, players take the role of Chuck Greene in a world following the events of the outbreak of the original Dead Rising on both the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Gameplay:
Sometimes, there is a complaint about the repetitive nature of sequels not changing it up enough from their original. That is not the case in Dead Rising 2. Just like Grand Theft Auto 3 had endless hours of appeal in the idea of driving down the sidewalks crushing pedestrians and killing hookers to get your money back, Dead Rising 2 has a near endless appeal of running through the streets, casinos and mall of fortune city grabbing everything possible to slice and dice through the never-ending zombie horde. The game’s leveling system keeps things interesting as it takes some time to turn Chuck into the ultimate zombie slaying badass like Woody Harrelson in Zombieland.
Also adding to the fun is the new concept of combination weapons. Players get combo cards by performing certain tasks in the game such as defeating psychopaths, finding posters and leveling up that show them combinations of items that can be duct taped together to create devices of maximum slaughter. Some of these are just way more fun than people should have by killing off zombies. Instead of just blowing up a gas canister, now a box of nails can be taped around it resulting in an explosion of shrapnel that takes out anything undead in its vicinity.

There’s been a bit of a Hollywood delay on this news, as nobody has been able to confirm whether or not director Darren Aronofsky will direct the sequel to last year’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It’s been up in the air for quite some time but it looks like the film’s star, Hugh Jackman, put the rumors to rest and confirmed it for us.
In a recent impromptu interview at Elton John’s Enduring Vision gala on Monday night, Jackman announced that he’s getting physically ready to start shooting next year, alongside director Aronofsky. From NY Mag.
“Expect to see four chicken breasts and a whole pile of steamed broccoli on my plate,” he told us. “I’m starting; I’m having my six meals a day.” With Darren Aronofsky directing, he says that Wolverine 2 will not be a “usual” X-Men movie: “This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope,” he said, and then paused. “Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different.”
Also, Jackman doesn’t think that Aronofsky’s penchant for dark drama is at odds with the big-budget action franchise. “This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark,” Jackman said. “But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”
So there you have it. The star could be way off, but chances are, being the face behind this multi-million dollar franchise, he knows his stuff. Expect to get official word in the next few days, and expect to see more about casting as the film readies principal photography early next year.

We may be in between seasons of FX’s Justified, but that isn’t stopping star Timoythy Olyphant from showing his face on TV. He guest stars in tomorrow night’s episode of The Office as the new, good-looking salesman who’s here to take business from our favorite coworkers. From NBC:
When a competing sales associate (guest star Timothy Olyphant) steals a Dunder Mifflin client, Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell), Jim (John Krasinski) and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) decide to set up a sting to find out his sales secrets. Andy (Ed Helms) decides to start a band after finding out a friend from college has a successful music career.
In the very funny four clips we’re bringing you today, Michael, Dwight, and Jim all plan a way to figure out Olyphant’s secret to selling, all while referencing the film The Sting.
Check out the clips after the jump, and be sure to catch The Office tomorrow night at 9pm ET on NBC.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I’m having a hard time getting excited for Microsoft’s Kinect. Sure, not using a controlller and being able to play you’re favorite game standing up as if you’re actually in the game seems like a cool idea. I’m just not sure I’m ready to give up my controller just yet.
Regardless of my feelings, Microsoft is going forward in a big way with Kinect and is launching the device, and several accompanying titles, very soon. In fact, just in time for the Holidays. Isn’t that nice of them?
Microsoft will have 17 games you can play with Kinect this year and here’s the list: Kinect Joy Ride, Adrenalin Misfits, Fighters Uncaged, Sonic Free Riders, Kinect Sports, MotionSports, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, Dance Central, The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout, DanceMasters, Kinect Adventures (bundled with Kinect), Kinectimals, Game Party: In Motion, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, EA Sports Active 2, Zumba Fitness, and Deca Sports Freedom.
The first twelve games will be available on November 4 (aka “Launch Day”) and the remaining five will arrive throughout November and early December. Now that we’ve seen the list, I can’t say I’m that much more interested. How about you guys? Will Kinect be the new “must have” gaming accessory?

Back in 1982, a movie called TRON about a programmer that is thrown into his own video game universe took the nerd world by storm. For decades, guys and girls alike were hot gluing LED ropes to black leggings so that they can look like their favorite science fiction hero. Now, those fans are getting the opportunity to live it all over again as TRON: Legacy hits theaters this December.
With that amount of fan hype involved, it’s almost understandable that a publishing company as big as Marvel would want to jump on into pimping the film with some awesome crosspromotion. Not to mention the fact that Disney and Marvel are one in the same now.
Starting next month, 10 different popular titles will get special TRON-ized variant covers by artists like Mark Brooks (Avengers: The Initiative) and Brandon Peterson (Uncanny X-Men).
The books you need to look for are as follows:
Amazing Spider-Man #651, Avengers #7, Avengers Academy #7, Captain America #612, Incredible Hulks #618, Invincible Iron Man #33, New Avengers #7, Secret Avengers #7, Thor #617, and Wolverine #4.
Before they even hit shelves next month, be sure to check out each of these variant covers after the jump, and get your TRON on December 17th!

Great news for fans of Outsourced, The Event or Law and Order: Los Angeles, those shows have all been picked up for a full season by NBC. Getting what’s called the “back nine” green light means you will continue to see these shows for the rest of the current TV season. That is, if their ratings hold out.
In addition to these shows, a similar pickup for Chase is supposedly on the way as well as one for Chuck. Those announcements are expected later this week. Meanwhile, Undercovers is close to receiving an order for additional scripts but not additional episodes, at least for now.
In a statement about the decisions, NBC’s primetime entertainment president Angela Bromstad indicated that the network brass didn’t focus on the ratings when deciding what to do. “We are pleased with the quality of The Event, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Outsourced, and feel they are an important part of helping to re-build our schedule and our studio pipeline,” she said. “We believe in these new series and the creative auspices behind them.”
Let’s hope that’s true, especially in the case of Chuck and The Event, two shows we’ve definitely got programmed into The Flickcast’s office TiVo. As for the others, we’ve not really gotten into Law and Order and as Chris and Matt have expressed on the podcast, we’re not fans of Outsourced either. So, if those shows don’t make it we probably won’t be too disappointed.
Expect more developments such as this from NBC and the rest of the networks during the coming weeks.

In leading up to tonight’s big premiere of Cartoon Network’s newest live action series, Tower Prep, we’ve been bringing you significant coverage of the show. Yesterday, we interviewed two of the four main stars, Ryan Pinkston and Drew Van Acker. Today, you guessed it, we’re bringing you an interview with the two other stars, Dyana Liu and Elise Gatien.
This may be one of the first major shows for Dyana, but many fans of the comic genre remember Elise Gatien from season 9 of Smallville as that universe’s version of Green Arrow’s Speedy. How does it all tie in? DC veteran Paul Dini is executive producer of this series, as well as writing tonight’s pilot episode.
The series revolves around this group of teens who wake up in a mysterious prep school for kids with special abilities.
Check out the interview after the jump, and catch Tower Prep on Cartoon Network, tonight at 8pm ET/PT.

Guitar Hero is the game that helped define the music rhythm genre with its release in 2005. The series has taken a Madden-like approach with its sequels, updating playlists and adding subtle changes with each iteration (the only exception being the drastic change of Guitar Hero: World Tour by adding a singer and drummer to the mix). Now, in its fifth sequel, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock the single player game attempts to take a drastic turn with the creation of a story mode, the first of its kind in the rhythm genre by stepping away from the Tour Mode which has graced Guitar Hero and Rock Band for the past few years.
Gameplay:
The gameplay of Guitar Hero can best be described as epically standard. If you picked up a plastic guitar back in the PlayStation 2 days of Guitar Hero, you will have no problem playing its 2010 version. A note highway cascades down the screen as players attempt to strum or drum each successive note. Bonuses are rewarded for streaks as players attempt to earn the most stars and points.
While other series are attempting to make a more realistic game experience with actual stringed guitars, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock sticks to what has worked for them in the past. Rock Challenges return to the game to try and add higher stakes during certain portions of songs to result in more stars and higher points.
