Since we know many of our Flickcast listeners (And some Flickcast writers) aren’t the most athletically inclined, it’s likely not many of you were watching Sunday night football to see the debut of the Call of Duty: Black Ops launch trailer. While Treyarch has come under some criticism for their Call of Duty titles not being as strong as those from Infinity Ward, this has not hurt the anticipation one bit for Black Ops.
From what we’ve seen so far, the game looks to be one of the highest selling Call of Duty releases ever. After this trailer, it wouldn’t be surprising to see those numbers increase even more.
One of the more surprising moments comes about half way through when a former President makes a brief cameo. Be sure to check it out after the jump.
Stay tuned to The Flickcast for a review on Call of Duty: Black Ops as soon as we get our hands on it!

If you are one of the dozens of people who sat through the entirety of Nic Cage’s Ghostrider back in 2007, here’s a statement you probably never made afterwards. “I loved that film, I really wish we got more Nic Cage.” If you were crazy enough to actually think that, then this bit of news is for you.
It’s been announced that Cage wants a bit more meat this time around, and will be portraying a bit more than just a stunt man with a curse. Co-director Brian Taylor recently sat down with Collider for the full scoop.
Zarathos is the spirit of vengeance that inhabits john blaze when he becomes ghost rider. unlike the 1st movie, where the rider was stiffly acted out by a various stunt guys, nic will be playing all the ghost rider stuff himself – and we are creating a whole physical language for the demon that is different from the human blaze.
Taylor comes from the team of Neveldine/Taylor, who most people know as the madmen who brought us the Crank films. If you’re saying “there’s no way these guys can make a campy comic book film NOT awesome”, just remember that they wrote the first script for Jonah Hex.
This sequel puts Cage’s Blaze in Eastern Europe, fighting to hide his curse, when he is recruited by a sect to take down the devil. Let’s see just how Cage does when the crew actually sets his skull on fire.

AMC’s eagerly anticipated zombie drama The Walking Dead finally made its debut, and it did not disappoint. AMC builds on its excellent reputation for bringing us edgy, unusual drama. The Walking Dead is a worthy companion to Mad Men and Breaking Bad. The series is based on a comic series by Robert Kirkman. AMC will air six episodes this season.
The show wastes no time establishing a grim tone. A man in a police officer uniform is searching for gas, and comes across a (campsite?) of sort, where he sees a little girl in a bathrobe with a teddy bear in hand. The man calls out to the girl, and when she eventually turns around, it is revealed that she is a zombie. A pained grimace flashes across the man’s face, just before he shoots the girl in the head. We watch the girl tumble to the ground in slow motion.
Balls, AMC, balls. Not only do you flaunt some gore right from the get-go, but you show a child being killed. Now that is how to (unapologetically) grab an audience’s attention.
Next, we are shown the man’s story, through a flashback. He is Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln), a police officer in an unnamed town. One day he responds to a routine call with his partner Shane (Jon Bernthal) that culminates in a shootout. Rick is badly wounded. He awakes from a coma in an eerily quiet hospital. After he staggers out of his room, it becomes apparent that the hospital is abandoned, save for a few decaying corpses strewn about.

Hard to believe that Chuck has been on NBC’s chopping block more than once. The show was on the verge of being cancelled after both season 2 and season 3, but now it’s back and better than ever with a fourth season and even plans for a fifth. This season has already seen the likes of Dolph Lundgren, Robert Englund, and Eric Roberts. Now a former film spy is joining in the action. From NBC.
After their first real fight, Chuck (Zachary Levi) avoids confronting Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) by going on a rogue mission that leads him to his mom’s MI-6 handler, Gregory Tuttle (guest star Timothy Dalton), and a mysterious Russian agent (guest star Ana Gasteyer). Meanwhile, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) is on her own mission to uncover the Bartowski family’s long-buried past.
We’ve got three clips from tonight’s episode, that even feature Saturday Night Live veteran Ana Gasteyer. Be sure to check them out after the jump and catch Chuck Vs. The First Fight tonight on at 8pm ET on NBC.

Saw 3D won the weekend box office, to no one’s surprise. The perennial Halloween franchise made its 7th (and presumably final) bow at the box office with a healthy $22.5M. It is reported that almost 90% of that total is from 3D screens. If you factor in Thursday midnight showings, the total is $24.2M.
Although the film did much better than its predecessor, Saw VI ($14.1M) it still was only the fifth best Saw debut.
Last week’s champ Paranormal Activity 2 tumbled about 59% from last week for $16.5. That’s a pretty steep drop, but fairly typical for a horror movie. With a measly $3M budget, the film is hugely profitable, looking at almost $65M in its first two weeks. Guess we know what our next Halloween franchise will be.
Red continues to defy expectations, and only dropped 28% in its third week, for $10.8M. The film has quietly made $58.9M over three weeks. Take that, naysayers.
Jackass 3D crossed the $100M mark this weekend, despite dropping 61% from last weekend. Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter came in at the number five spot, but continues to struggle. The film has made about $22M after three weeks, which is less than half of its budget.
Next week, Due Date, For Colored Girls, and Megamind vie for the top spot.
