Its that time of year. The time when networks announce their entire schedule for the Fall and Mid-Season. First out of the gate is NBC which is introducing 12 new series next season including six dramas and six comedies.

NBC has put six new series including the dramas including The Playboy Club, Prime Suspect and Grimm and comedies Up All Night, Free Agents and Whitney on the fall schedule and has slots reserved for Smash and The Firm in midseason. Drama Awake and comedies Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, Bent and BFF have yet to be scheduled.

Of course, we’re glad to see some of our favorite shows returning next season including Community and Chuck. Oddly absent from the schedule at the moment is 30 Rock, which is apparently being postponed to make way for freshman comedy Whitney. Let’s hope it comes back soon.

If you’re a fan of first person shooter games and the Call of Duty franchise in particular, you’re about to get a lot happier. No, a new game in the series isn’t coming out tomorrow. That would be too cool.

However, the new Facebook and YouTube pages for the soon to be a giant hit game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have just gone live so you know what that means. That’s right, a new game in the franchise is coming soon and from the videos so far, it looks to be another great one.

We don’t know a lot about the game except that from the new videos we can at least guess some of the action takes place in various countries such as France, England, Germany and the good old US of A.

What does that mean for this game? well, we shall soon see. Also, it will be very interesting to see how this game shapes up as this is the first one in the series not to be developed by Infinity Ward or Treyarch.

Instead, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software will be handling the development with Activison doing the publishing. Look for this game later this year for XBox 360, PS 3 and PC. Of course, we’ll bring you all we can about it right here so keep on checking back.

Week 3 into this year’s epic summer blockbuster season and it looks like established franchises seem to still be more of a draw than original comedies or futuristic thrillers. In its second week of release, Thor has maintained the coveted #1 spot over new releases Bridesmaids and Priest.

Last weekend, Thor opened to 3,955 theaters in the US and had a solid pull of $65.7 million. This weekend, the film opened up in a few more theaters but lost a little bit of steam and about 50% of the original weekend’s domestic take, in making an estimated $34.5 million domestic, and over $300 million worldwide.

In the new releases, Bridesmaids, starring Kristen Wiig and marketed as the “female Hangover” came in at the #2 spot with $24.4 million. Not a terrible opening weekend, as the film only cost $32 million to make. It will be a nice companion film to Hangover 2, which hits in 2 weeks.

The only other big release this weekend was Priest, starring Paul Bettany and Karl Urban. In remaining consistent with less than positive reviews, the film opened at #4 with a measly $14.5 million. This is definitely one film that was hurt by the 3D conversion, as it pushed the release back from over a year ago, when it had a chance to stand strong in a dead weekend.

It’s a bittersweet Friday afternoon as we approach the time when the Smallville series finale hits the air. However, even if the series is ending, that doesn’t mean we’re out of time to bring you a preview for tonight’s episode.

This time around, the sneak peeks come in the form of a new promotional image for tonight’s two-hour episode (seen at right), and a video teaser featuring producer Brian Peterson who tells it like it is.

As you can see in the pic it looks like Clark and Lois are actually going to tie the knot after all. Or, are they?  If only things go as expected. I would bet Lex Luthor might have something to say about it.

Plus, its not a secret that Clark and Lois do get married in the comics, so perhaps Lois will get her dream wedding after all. Whatever happens, we’ll find out in just a few hours.

HBO’s series Game of Thrones keeps getting more interesting and intense with each new episode. The new one we will get to see this Sunday is no exception.

Entitled “The Wolf and the Lion” the episode is described by HBO as follows:

Incensed over news of Daenerys’ alliance with the Dothrakis, Robert orders a preemptive strike on the Targaryens that drives a wedge in his relationship with Ned. Meanwhile, a captive Tyrion helps Catelyn, but receives a cold reception at the Eyrie from her sister, John Arryn’s widow Lysa (Kate Dickie). And, Sansa is charmed by the dashing Ser Loras Tyrell (Finn Jones), aka the Knight of Flowers. Arya overhears a plot against her father.

Well well, it seems the intrigue is building. Plus, we may get some cool fight scenes this Sunday. Let’s hope.

True crime fans are in for a treat tonight, because Investigation Discovery has a lineup of shows catering to the macabre and and truly terrifying. Forget Jason Voorhees, there is nothing more frightening than a real life monster.

Tonight’s special scheduling begins with Pig Farm (9pm), a film about Robert Pickton, Canada’s most notorious serial killer.  Next up is American Occult: Blood Lust (11pm) which takes you inside the underground world of Satan worshippers and vampire culture. Finally, Lore: Deadly Obsession will show at midnight.

We got a sneak peek at Lore: Deadly Obsession, which tells the very disturbing story of Richard Trenton Case. Even as a young child, Case exhibited signs of zoosadism, bedwetting, and pyromania; all behaviors that indicate sociopath tendencies.

Throw an abusive mom and problems with women in the mix, and it was a recipe for disaster.  Case was obsessed with drinking blood, and once his desire could not be met with small rodents and animals he graduated to other means, culminating in a gruesome blood bath one night in 1978.

Case killed over six people over the course of one month, and was nicknamed the “Vampire of Sacramento”. He died of an apparent suicide by overdose while in prison.

Part of the reason this particular film is so effective and chilling is due to the performance of  Dylan John Seaton. He is simply scary as hell as the unhinged serial killer. Although most of the violence takes place off camera, the film is wholly unsettling, particularly since you know the events really took place.

I’m glad there were two episodes—disregarding the fact that it meant double the recaps—because it was nice to see the Leslie/Ben (is there a name for this yet? If not, I’m submitting “LesBien” for mass consideration) sexual tension get some mutual recognition—and some face-munching.

But that comes later. The first episode, “The Fight,” honors the timeless sitcom staple of everyone getting really, really drunk. The setup is that Pawnee’s head of public relations for the health department has, as Chris says, “Gone bananas,” freeing his position up for Leslie to swoop in and recommend Ann Perkins for the job, a job Ann’s none too willing to take since it entails memorizing every Pawnee health reform since the 1950s (which actually might make interesting, if not terrifying reading)…in one night.

Meanwhile, Tom’s developed a new drink to promote at the Snake Hole: Snake Juice, a 140-proof, Kahlua-inspired liquor (basically a lot of alcohol mixed with sugar and coffee), which likely tastes as good as it sounds, but oh how it does the job. Tom invites the gang out to partake (but more to help peddle the hooch), and oh how they do, particularly Ann Perkins, who ditches the massive amount of homework Leslie prepares and is now dating The Douche, Pawnee’s own radio-shock-idiot, last seen in “Media Blitz.”

Leslie gets incensed at Ann’s promiscuity and Ann retaliates by chiding Leslie for hiding her feelings toward Ben, leading to a booze-fueled confrontation between the two that results in a falling out/massive hangover.

If you thought the upcoming live-action Green Lantern film was going to be the beginning and end of Hal Jordan’s journey as the Emerald Knight, you’re way off. The first Green Lantern of Earth will continue his intergalactic patrol in the upcoming animated anthology Green Lantern: Emerald Knights from Warner Home Video.

In the same vein as Batman: Gotham Knights, the animated feature will be comprised of several short stories surrounding Hal Jordan (to be voiced by fan favorite Nathan Fillion) and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps as they fight evil throughout the galaxy.

Joining Fillion in this star-studded cast of voice actors is Kelly Hu, Elisabeth Moss, Henry Rollins, Arnold Vosloo, and Roddy Piper.

In the clip we have for you, we meet Arisia (Moss), the newest recruit to the Corps, as she makes her way to a briefing from the Guardians of OA about their eldest foe, Krona.

If you’re an Android-powered device user and have been jealous of all your iPhone and iPad using friends who get to watch Netflix content on their devices, be jealous no longer. Netflix finally announced that its Android application is now available and ready for you to download in the Android Market.

However, as great as that news is for Android users, there’s one thing that may dampen the excitement. The app is only supported on “select phones that have the requisite playback support.” All is not lost, however, as Netflix says it will add supported devices to its list over time.

As you probably already know, the video streaming service is currently available on Windows Phone and iOS devices, but what was the holdup for Android? “Because the platform has evolved so rapidly, there are some significant challenges associated with developing a streaming video application for this ecosystem,” Netflix product team member Roma De said.

“One of these challenges is the lack of standard streaming playback features that the Netflix application can use to gain penetration across all available Android phones. In the absence of standardization, we have to test each individual handset and launch only on those that can support playback.”

I guess that makes sense. See, Apple owning the entire widget and making developers adhere to a strict set of rules might not be a bad thing after all. At least iOS users get cool apps first, at least in most cases.

Netflix for Android currently runs on the HTC Incredible, Nexus One, and EVO 4G with Android 2.2 installed. It’s also supported on the Nexus S and Nexus One with Android 2.3 installed.

In an act that is sure to completely melt Twitter, it looks like Chuck Lorre and CBS Studios have found a replacement for the hard to work with Charlie Sheen, who was fired from Two and a Half Men back in March. That man? Former That 70′s Show star Ashton Kutcher.

The deal is supposedly all done but no official announcement from CBS has yet to appear. However, several sources have all but confirmed it  From THR:

Two sources close to the deal-making tell The Hollywood Reporter that the actor is putting the final touches on a deal to replace Charlie Sheen as the star of TV’s No. 1 comedy. CBS, studio Warner Bros. and Kutcher’s reps at CAA declined to comment on the situation but a deal is said to be all but signed. The exact dollar figure he will be paid is not known but a source says Kutcher is getting a “huge payday” to join the hit sitcom.

The deal came together quickly in the wake of Hugh Grant passing on the opportunity to join the show. Now sources say Men creator Chuck Lorre has crafted a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio. “It’s really funny,” says one source. “People are going to love it.”

The news comes as barely a surprise and more of an “I can totally see that!” for most fans of either Men or Kutcher’s previous work in the sitcom world. No word on how this will effect Sheen’s current “Torpedoes of Truth” world tour, but you can expect between Kutcher’s 7.6 million Twitter followers and Sheen’s 3.8 million, people will be pushing their 140-character limit over the next few days as the deal is finalized.

If you dismiss Bridesmaids as an estrogen laden raunch fest, you’d be selling it short. Not only is the film wickedly funny, but it has a surprising amount of heart to boot. How refreshing to see a talented ensemble of women deliver the goods on every level.

Kristen Wiig really gets to strut her stuff as Annie, an adorable underachiever who just can’t catch a break since she lost her bakery during the recession. She occasionally beds down with a handsome prick (John Hamm) who kicks her out of the sack the minute he has done the dirty deed. A real charmer, there. Adding to her misery is her boring job selling jewelry.

When Annie’s best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) becomes engaged, she asks Annie to be her maid of honor. However, their friendship is tested when Lillian’s new (and obscenely wealthy) friend Helen (Rose Byrne) starts honing in on the wedding planning.

A jealous rivalry begins escalating between the two as the events leading up to the wedding unfold. Poor Annie is roped into buying an expensive designer bridesmaid dress she can’t afford and is subjected to the most over-the-top bridal shower ever.

Ding dong, the Prince is dead. Or, at the very least, the most recent incarnation of Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) on the small screen.

That right folks, David E. Kelly’s much hyped reimagining of Wonder Woman as a modern career woman by day and Amazonian crimefighter by night is not being picked up by NBC.

The news broke late last night after the network got some mixed reviews from testers who watched the pilot. After that lukewarm reception, all the hoopla surrouding the lame costume, and other changes made by Kelly to the Wonder Woman mythos, the netwok decided that the show will not go on from here.

Apart from those details, NBC isn’t saying much more about why the show was killed. Could it just be the costume or was it much more that that? Other reports suggest Kelley’s take asked for lots of expensive, contemporary music and the Ally McBeal and LA Law creator had also requested a commercial-free premiere for the pilot if it aired.

Sadly, we may never know the full story on why the show isn’t going forward. Although, maybe that doesn’t really matter.

It’s often unfair to judge a show just from a few pictures and a description. However, in the case of this Wonder Woman it just all looked, and sounded, bad.

Let’s let this one die and move on to the next one. I’m sure we’ll see another try at Wonder Woman soon enough. And don’t worry, Adrianne Palicki is going to be fine. She’s hot and not a terrible actress.

I’m sure she’s already booked another gig.
