New ‘Battleship’ Clip Doesn’t Sink

by Joe Gillis, May 1 2012 // 3:42 PM

Even with Battleship already out in theaters in other countries, there’s still time for the big PR push to keep on going in the US of A. Case in point is this new clip from the movie which debuted last night on MTV.

In it we see some of our men and women of the Navy get their action on and try to attack and alien space ship. We also get more of our favorite cast in action as well.

One thing this clip does prove is that machine guns don’t really have much effect on giant alien ships and those aliens are not to be trifled with. We could have told you that.

UPDATE: As a bonus, we’ve also got another clip for you which just arrived in our mailboxes. Enjoy.

Check out the new clips after the break. Look for Battleship, directed by Peter Berg and starring Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna, hits the US on May 18.

Two New Clips from the Upcoming ‘Battle Royal’ Blu-Ray Release

by Jonathan Weilbaecher, Mar 12 2012 // 4:30 PM

One of the great ancillary effects of the popularity of The Hunger Games is the renewed exposure it is generating for the certified classic, Battle Royal. The Japanese film is a bit over a decade old and has grown a huge international following, yet it never really broken out overseas.

Hopefully that will change now that the film is getting it’s first US official Blu-Ray release.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Battle Royal here is the official synopsis:

In the near future, the economy has collapsed, unemployment has soared and juvenile crime has exploded. Fearful of their nation’s youth, the Japanese government passes The BR Law: Each year, a 9th grade class is sent to a remote island where they will be locked into exploding neck collars, given a random weapon, and forced to hunt and kill each other until there is only one survivor left.

To celebrate the new release we have two new clips from the impending blu-ray set. The first clip is from the film itself and showcases some of the harsh brutality of the film. Keep in mind this is a red band clip, but for those of you who are on the fence this should help convince you. The second showcases  behind the scenes footage of that same scene, giving you a sense of how deep the extras content truly goes.

The Blu-Ray set hits March 20th and you can check out the clips after the jump.

Check Out Previews and More for Tonight’s Series Finale of ‘Chuck’

by Jonathan Weilbaecher, Jan 27 2012 // 10:30 AM

Tonight sees the end of Chuck, a quirky show that never seemed to connected with the mainstream, but managed to carve out enough of a fan base to stay alive for an impressive five season run.

The Friday night time slot the show has inhabited is often referred to as the ‘Firday Night Death Slot’, a moniker that has made sense this season as it has been no secret this would be Chuck‘s last season.  That said, death is not always a sorrowful event, sometimes it can be a celebration. A celebration of the life of a show that against most odds lived long enough to give its fans a satisfying run.

Check out a whole slew of videos clips in anticipation on tonight’s finale. In the first few videos you get series stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, and Joshua Gomez remembering the show, thanking the fans and saying goodbye to the show.

Following those we have several clips from tonight’s finale to get you all jazzed for the, hopefully, fond farewell to one of our favorite nerd/super spies.

Two New Clips From ‘The Big Bang’ Starring Antonio Banderas

by Jonathan Weilbaecher, Apr 27 2011 // 10:00 AM

The Big Bang looks like a bug nutty movie, totally the kind of crazy that is either inspired or down right horrible. I appreciate that the film takes stylistic risks to stand out, and the cast assembled is pretty stacked, so I am willing to give it a shot.

In anticipation of the May 13th limited release, Anchor Bay has released 2 new clips from the film. In the first clip we get to see a pair of the stellar character actors that populate the film playing the cops firing on our hero. The awesome Thomas Kretschmann and the awesomer Delroy Lindo unload a barrage of bullets into Banderas’ car. He, of course, responds in kind.

In the second clip we see a far more important piece of the story. Banderas is at his private eye desk, doing his private eye things when a mysterious giant appears. This is likely an important moment from earlier in the film, setting up the main action for the rest of the movie.

These clips are pretty standard for the private eye genre, but the trailer has promised something far more interesting and generally nuts. Hopefully these new tidbits will fit into the context of the film in a satisfyingly crazy way. Check out both clips after the jump.

Two New ‘Doctor Who’ Clips Give a Glimpse at the Upcoming Season

by Jonathan Weilbaecher, Apr 18 2011 // 7:00 AM

Doctor Who is an institution, for nearly 50 years the Doctor and his Tardis have been entertaining kids and nerds alike. Thankfully I recently forced myself to give the Doctor a try and have since discovered the “New Who” era is some of the best television I have ever seen.

Two new clips have popped up online giving us an idea of what to expect in the season premiere. The first clip is a mod setter, showcasing the fact that for the first time ever Doctor Who shot principle photography in America.

In the second clip we get some serious meat to gnaw on. The tone is darker than we’ve seen recently, and we get to see the Doctor finally asking the questions we fans have been wondering for years. Who exactly is River Song?

Ever since Stephen Moffat and Matt Smith took over, as show runner and The Doctor respectively, the show has maintained an extremely high level of quality and so far their next season looks to continue that trend.

Interesting to note, this season of Doctor Who marks the first time ever the show is aired day and date in America, and for the first time in the “New Who” era we are heading into a season with the same Doctor and companion. Gather your fez and sonic screwdriver, the new season starts April 23rd on BBC America.

Check out both new clips after the jump!

Bradley Cooper Knows Kung Fu in a New Clip From ‘Limitless’

by Matt Raub, Mar 8 2011 // 7:30 AM

When the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Limitless starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro first hit, one of the first questions that came to mind when we learned of the plot was “sure, this pill allows him to get a haircut and learn Italian, but does it give him superpowers?” Sure enough, this clip has got the answer for us.

For those who haven’t read about the full synopsis for the film, here it is.

Eddie Morra (Cooper) is an unemployed writer whose girlfriend Lindy (Abbey Cornish) breaks up with him. Eddie believes he has no future, but when a friend introduces him to the experimental drug NZT, Eddie becomes highly focused and highly confident. He is able to recall everything he has read, heard, or seen, and he uses the knowledge to become successful in the financial world. Business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro) sees Eddie as a potential tool to make money, but Eddie’s success also attracts hitmen who pursue him for the NZT. Eddie’s stash dwindles, causing him side effects, as he tries to escape being assassinated.

So when an experimental drug gives you heightened intelligence, creativity, and learning powers, doesn’t it make sense that you’d be great in a fist fight? Check out a new clip from the film after the jump and learn for yourself.

Limitless hits theaters on March 18th.

Check Out 4 Bizarre New Clips From ‘Catfish’

by Matt Raub, Sep 8 2010 // 8:00 AM

Every year, one film likes to stand out as the tiny indie flick that comes out of left field and turns heads everywhere. Last year’s is most memorable, as Paranormal Activity blew up in the box office and kept people awake for weeks. Now it looks like Rogue Pictures’ Catfish may do the same.

For those not in the loop, here’s the official synopsis:

In late 2007, filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost sensed a story unfolding as they began to film the life of Ariel’s brother, Nev.  They had no idea that their project would lead to the most exhilarating and unsettling months of their lives.  A reality thriller that is a shocking product of our times, Catfish is a riveting story of love, deception and grace within a labyrinth of online intrigue.

The film plays itself like a classic tale of romance, with a modern social networking twist, and then turns into something completely different. We’ve got four new clips to prove that point, served up just for you.

Take a look at the clips after the jump, and catch Catfish in limited theaters on September 17th.

Brand New ‘Splice’ Clip and Poster Arrive

by Chris Ullrich, May 24 2010 // 2:00 PM

We’ve been following director Vincenzo Natali’s latest film Splice for a little while now because, among other reasons, we’re big fans of sci-fi around here and his first film, Cube, was a pretty great low-budget first feature effort. And now, thanks to the power of the Internets (and the folks at Collider), we can bring you a new clip from the film as well as a poster.

In case you’re not familiar with Splice, it concerns “superstar genetic engineers Clive (Adrien Brody) and Elsa (Sarah Polley) specialize in splicing DNA from different animals to create incredible hybrids.” These driven scientists use human DNA to create a hybrid that, at first, surpasses their wildest dreams.

But as this hybrid, called Dren, begins to grow, those dreams turn into nightmare as it begins to develop unexpected abilities and appetites. Well, that does sound scary and after looking at this latest clip, I’m even more interested in this film. The effects look pretty good for such a low budget and who doesn’t love science gone wrong allegories? I know I do.

We’ll bring you more on this film as it gets closer to the release date, including an exclusive interview with director Vincenzo Natali, so be sure and check back soon. Until then, check out the clip and poster after the jump. Splice hits theaters on June 4.

Four New Clips From Tonight’s ‘Bones’

by Sebastian Suchecki, Jan 28 2010 // 8:00 AM

Bones_DentistDitch-Sc10_0008Bones seems to be a show that only gets better after it’s fifth season, while most other shows fall to the wayside in that time. This season alone has been so much of a milestone for everyone involved, and it’s only the beginning.

Fox has announced plans for the upcoming 100th episode, airing on April 8th, in which series star David Boreanez will direct the episode. Seeing as how we’ve got some time before April, tonight’s episode looks to be pretty enticing as well. From Fox:

When a human skeleton is discovered in the trenches of an old Civil War battleground, Brennan and Booth are called to the case. Despite the historical location, Brennan quickly identifies the bones as belonging to Dan Pinard, a present-day local dentist. While Booth investigates suspects, including the victim’s former boyfriend, Hodgins and lab intern Vincent Nigel-Murray work doggedly to clean the bones of a stubborn clay residue which is preventing the team from determining a cause of death. Meanwhile, Booth’s brother, Jared, returns from his travels with some surprising news.

Check out four new clips from tonight’s episode, “The Dentist And The Ditch”, and be sure to catch it tonight on Fox, 8PM Eastern/Pacific.

Six New Clips from ‘Avatar’

by Joe Gillis, Dec 10 2009 // 10:00 AM

avatar-poster-210x300With critics and other people around the Internets finally having a chance to see James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar this week, more footage is pooping up online as well. Case in point is these six clips from the film that are now online, as discovered by our pals at Coming Soon.

The six clips give you a pretty good idea about how the film begins and what happens during the first 30 or so minutes. In them you see how Sam Worthington’s character, Jake, comes to planet Pandora, meets the human military and scientific personnel stationed there, gets his Avatar body and his mission and then heads out into the wilderness to accomplish that mission.

If you like to go into a movie like this without having much knowledge of it, these clips won’t help you accomplish that. If you do like to know something about a film before seeing it, go ahead and click on the links after the jump to watch these six clips and it will be “mission accomplished.” Sadly, we can’t embed them for you here so you will have to click through to watch them at YouTube.

Oh, one more thing. If you do want to watch these, I suggest you hurry before they are all gone — as sometimes happens with “leaks” like this. Avatar opens December 18.

First Clips of Alexis Denisof and Summer Glau On ‘Dollhouse’

by Matt Raub, Dec 3 2009 // 11:00 AM

Dollhouse_LeftHand-Sc5_0035_fThough there is no word whether or not FOX will air the rest of Dollhouse’s second season, we do still have some things coming up to be excited for. This Friday marks the show’s return after being off the air for nearly two months, and it’s coming back with a bang. Two episodes will air this Friday on the network: “The Public Eye” and “The Left Hand.”

According to IMDb, in the first of the two-parter, Echo is sent to Washington, DC to stop Senator Daniel Perrin (guest Alexis Denisof) before he can expose the Dollhouse’s secrets. Adelle and Topher also travel to the Washington DC Dollhouse where they meet its genius programmer, Bennett Halverson (special guest Summer Glau), a woman with a mysterious past connection to Echo.

Following that episode, in “The Left Hand” Echo and Bennett have a shocking confrontation as Adelle goes head-to-head with the ruthless head of the Washington, D.C. Dollhouse. Meanwhile, Topher sees double when he involves Victor in his espionage plans, and Senator Perrin finds a surprising witness to testify against the Rossum Corporation.

This marks the first time that Denisof has worked with Joss Whedon since Angel went off the air in 2004, and the first time Glau has worked with him since 2005′s Serenity. Check out two exclusive clips from “The Left Hand” after the jump. This is the first we’ll see of both Glau and Denisof, so some spoilers ahead.

Two New Clips from ABC’s ‘V’

by Matt Raub, Oct 26 2009 // 11:15 AM

47001700It’s been two and a half decades since the original miniseries first hit TV, but now V is finally making a comeback next week on ABC, and we’ve got two new clips to give you a taste of what the show has to offer.

For those who didn’t see the original, the plot is about the arrival of a seemingly peaceful alien race on Earth, who say they have only good intentions. Slowly, however, its reveled that those intentions could mean bad things for the inhabitants of our planet. No word on how the plot will change from the original, but you could expect it to grow it’s own legs, much like Sci-Fi’s Battlestar Galactica.

In first clip, one of the cooler effects takes place. It’s the first communication between the alien race and the humans using a gigantic screen in the sky. Firefly’s Morena Baccarin plays Anna, the alien ambassador, and does a nice job of portraying a creepy calm.

In the second clip, Baccarin is joined by Scott Wolf, playing TV journalis Chad Decker in the first interview between alien Anna and the human race. Things get dicey when she asks not to be portrayed in a bad light.

Check out these clips after the jump, as well as the first 8 minutes of the pilot on ABC.com. Be sure to catch V on ABC, Tuesday, November 3, at 8pm/7pm Central.
