With a game as hyped as Diablo III, there have been lots of stories circulating around the net since its launch last week. The first was someone who fought through the crashing servers and was able to complete the game in just 13 hours. The next tale came about someone who did a speed run and beat the entire game in six hours after an 11 year wait to get his hands on the game.
There were even reports of someone getting a character to level sixty within the first few days of launch, not to mention the thousands of people who took off work to play the game on launch. But with the crazed fandom, there also comes the possibility of tragedy as well.
Tech blog Buildstarted.com was the first to report the first real world Diabo III related death. Buildstarted reports the loss of his friend and coworker, 32 year old Russell Shirley. After not hearing from his friend for two days, the writer called Shirley’s landlady who found Russell in front of his computer, lost to an apparent heart attack which may have been caused by his gaming binge.

Though some people look down on sequels past number 3, there are a few pretty good films out there in the high sequel count that have had a decent fan response in the past. With that in mind, the upcoming 5th film in the Final Desintation franchise already has 83% over at RottenTomatoes, so it can’t be that bad, right?
The series was “rebooted” with #4 to a new audience, bigger budget, and slightly more 3D element (from the already nonexistant 3D in 1-3). That film took off and had some pretty big numbers in the box office, so why not continue with a fifth film? Exactly.
In honor of the film hitting theaters this Friday (in 3D and 2D), the fun folks over at Screened.com managed to compile every death from Final Destination 1-4, which managed to leave us off with a nice round 30 kills overall.
Just watching this montage made us realize how beautifully violent and deranged some of these deaths turned out to be, and how hilariously campy some of the Rube Goldberg-esque traps were setting us up.
Check out the montage after the jump and race out to see how much more ridiculous the deaths can get this Friday when Final Destination 5 hits theaters everywhere.

Darksiders was a game that many people expected to fall by the wayside between lack of promotion and an interesting choice in release dates, January 1st 2010. But as was seen in our review of the game, giving it an 8 out of 10, Darksiders proved it had the potential to be something special and for the most part lived up to it.
Not entirely what gamers were expecting, Darksiders ended up playing out much like a dark, demon filled version of Ocarina of Time where players were challenged to solve puzzles along with a constantly improving repertoire of weapons, skills and magic at their disposal under the guise of the horseman of the apocalypse War.
Now, Darksiders II brings a new horseman to the player’s control, probably the most infamous of them all. Death. And with Death comes a whole new list of possibilities. War’s power were all about destruction. It would only make sense that Death’s powers were all about… well, death. Instead of just ripping enemies apart, Death can bring about the primordial forces to end the lives of any who oppose him, be they angel or demon. At least, that’s what we are hoping to see happen.
Darksiders II is coming in 2012 to XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Make sure to take a peek at the trailer below to see Death in action. Stick to the Flickcast for more information on Darksiders II as it becomes available.

Remember the early 90’s, before “emo” was a lifestyle and kids were just dressing up like Neil Gaiman’s Death or Dream and rock out to The Cure? Well, it looks like Warner Bros. TV is a little more nostalgic, as they’re in the planning stages of turning Gaiman’s classic fantasy comic into a new dramatic series.
It may be 15 years after the initial book stopped getting published, but the executives at WB feel that fans of a new, vampire-loving generation will take a liking to this dark and dreary world. Heat Vision spells it out.
Warner Bros. TV is in the midst of acquiring television rights from sister company DC Entertainment and in talks with several writer-producers about adapting the 1990s comic. At the top of the list is Eric Kripke, creator of the CW’s horror-tinged “Supernatural.”
“Sandman” told the tale of Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming, a deity who personifies dreams. The book began in the horror realm but quickly made its mark in fantasy and mythology as Gaiman introduced the Endless, a group of powerful brothers and sisters named Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire and Delirium (as well as Dream).

Veteran comedian and character actor Henry Gibson passed away earlier this week after a brief battle with cancer. He was 73.
Most fans of classic television remember Gibson from the days of Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In from 1968-1971. After that, Gibson became quite prominent in the world of TV character acting. He went on to such other shows as Love, American Style and others in both TV and film. Most remember Gibson as playing the billionaire antagonist in 1996’s Bio-Dome starring Paulie Shore and William Baldwin.
His most recent work was on the ABC comedy Boston Legal as recurring character Judge Clarence Brown. Gibson worked as the straight man to both William Shatner and James Spader in 25 episodes from the start of the show in 2004 to the finale in 2008.
After the jump, take a look at one of Gibson’s most recent work in a humorous scene opposite William Shatner in an episode of Boston Legal. Gibson is survived by his three sons and two grandchildren.

AP is reporting that beloved film star Patrick Swayze has passed away. He was 57 years old.
Swayze was born in 1952, and after a long and successful career suffered a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. After his breakout performance in Dirty Dancing, Swayze went on to star in the romantic classic Ghost alongside Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.
Later, he played the role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago. Despite his illness, he continued to work after his diagnosis in January 2008, starring in A&E’s show The Beast for one season. Swayze was also writing a memoir with his wife, Lisa Nemi.
He will be missed.
