First Teaser for ‘Season of the Witch’

by Sebastian Suchecki, Oct 23 2009 // 11:15 AM

season-of-the-witchHalloween is officially 8 days away (7 if you celebrate on the 30th), so it would make sense for a studio like Lionsgate to put out lots of genre films to coincide with the spookiest of holidays, right? Wrong, because according to them, March is the new Halloween. Whatever that means.

There is a brand new teaser out for Season of the Witch, starring Ron Perlman, Stephen Campbell Moore (The Bank Job), Ulrich Thomsen (Hitman), and yes, Nic Cage. Also, don’t be surprised that a film about witches isn’t coming out around Halloween, because director Dominic Sena’s last film, Whiteout, sat on the shelf for nearly a year before a soft release.

Though October is considered a dead financial month for films, it was nice that the trailer tried to cover it up by proclaiming that “Halloween is for Amateurs.” March isn’t a much better time, but it is where bad horror films go to die, so don’t expect much on March 19th when Season of the Witch opens nationwide.

Check out the first teaser trailer after the jump!

New Poster for ‘Whiteout’ Revealed

by Chris Ullrich, Aug 7 2009 // 5:00 PM

kate-beckinsale-Whiteout-gunWe’ve been anticipating the arrival of the film based on Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber’s graphic novel Whiteout for some time now. Previously, we’ve had some info to share with you about the film, including two trailers and an interview with Lieber about his latest project, Underground, where we also talk a bit about the film.

Now, thanks to the MySpace page of Trailer Park, we’ve got the brand new poster for Whiteout to bring you today. This one features a large Kate Beckinsale close up looking pretty great and also very cold. To be honest, I kinda like some of the earlier posters a bit better but at least this one features more Kate, which is never a bad thing.

The movie, which tells the story of U.S. Marshall Carrie Steko (Beckinsale) investigating the first murder ever to take place in Antarctica, is directed by Dominic Sena and co-stars Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short, Alex O’Loughlin, Shawn Doyle and Tom Skerritt. It hits theaters on September 11.

Click through to check out the brand new poster.

New Trailer for ‘Whiteout’ Revealed

by Jennifer Tomooka, Jul 23 2009 // 8:00 AM

beckinsale-whiteoutThe latest trailer for the Warner Bros. thriller Whiteout surfaced on IGN today. The graphic novel adaptation stars Kate Beckinsale as US Marshall Carrie Stetko, who is investigating Antarctica’s first murder. The film is helmed by Dominic Sena and also stars Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short, Alex O’Loughlin, Shawn Doyle and Tom Skerritt.

This teaser will seem familiar to fans, as most of the material from the first trailer remains intact. However, this version gives viewers who may not be familiar with the source material a greater understanding of the world Stetko inhabits and what she must do before the freezing winter plunges the continent into darkness.

Whiteout hits theaters September 11. Check out the trailer after the jump.
