This week, we’ve been bringing you tons of coverage from Comic-Con International 2011, a great deal of which included some great interviews with the modern era “Geek Girl.” Those names were only the snack to the main course which is the ultimate geek girl: Felicia Day.

Best known for several shorts on the web from Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog to her own series with MSN, The Guild, Felicia has lately shifted over to the world of TV with an upcoming stint on Syfy’s Eureka.

So now after taking over our internet tubes and our TV boxes, what’s left for geek goddess Felicia Day? How about the rest of the year off?

Looks like it takes a lot out of one to be in so many places at once, so she’ll be taking the rest of this year off to focus on writing and a few other low-key projects.

Since the creation of The Flickcast, there has rarely been a time or topic that I’ve felt strongly enough about to write an editorial rant, until now. There is a new fad swooping through the brains of up and coming actresses who feel like they need to close in on a wide and constantly sought after demographic. I’m talking, of course, about the close group of people across the globe who can be referred to as “nerds.”

Back in the day (and by “the day” I mean when Lord of The Rings were just books that nobody talked about and the closest thing we had to a superhero movie was Christopher Reeve wearing guyliner and blue tights) the concept of a “nerd” was someone with awkward social skills who took solace in the worlds of science fiction or fantasy.

Today, the line has obviously been blurred between what’s considered “cool” and what’s considered “nerdy.” Some of the biggest movies of the year are one’s involving Orcs or robots from space. That’s all fine and dandy, but enjoying these things isn’t what makes you a “nerd.”

Since the explosion of Felicia Day, who’s best known for her work with Joss Whedon on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog or on her own series, The Guild (a webseries about the social misadventures of real gamers), there have been hundreds of copycats hoping to rake in some of that sweet nerdy celebrity. And given how much money the video game and comic book industries are now making, it’s ripe for the picking.

Yesterday, we brought you an interview with hall of fame fanboy Joss Whedon, in which he discussed tonight’s episode of Glee, entitled “Dream On,” which he directed. Not only do fans of Whedon get the master of all things geek behind the camera, but he also brought along his pal from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, Neil Patrick Harris.

It’s not secret that Harris has a background in musical theater, having worked on the Broadway production of RENT!, and of course doing the acclaimed, web-based musical with Whedon. He’s even reprising his role as a bad guy in this week’s episode, when he plays Will’s (Matthew Morrison) old high school nemesis, Bryan Ryan.

In unbridled anticipation for tonight’s episode, we’ve brought you a brand new clip, and you even get a piece of Harris singing a classic Monkees hit “Daydream Believer.”

Since its return in April, Glee has taken a different approach by having an overall theme throughout each song in an episode. One week was saying “hello”, while another week talked about “home.” That theme carries on with this week’s episode entitled “Dream On.”

Not only does the title insinuate that we’ll get some possibly great songs, but fan favorite Joss Whedon is stepping in to direct, and he’s bringing Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog‘s  Neil Patrick Harris in to play Mr. Schuester’s (Matthew Morrison) arch nemesis.

Whedon is apparently a closet Gleek, and couldn’t wait to take on this opportunity. This can only mean he’ll be stepping up his game and bringing us other Gleeks a truly memorable episode.

With Glee getting nominated for tons of awards since it’s premiere last spring, they’ve delivered time and time again with performances and guest spots. Many feel that the Kristen Chenoweth guest appearance last year was one of the best episodes of the season, and it may get even better next season.

E! Online is reporting that Neil Patrick Harris has been confirmed for a guest stint on the upcoming season, and with his ever growing popularity of Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, you can expect his appearance on the Fox series to be a memorable one. From E!

Hold on to your track pants, Sue Sylvester! ‘Cause one solid Glee insider tells me that Neil is playing a character who is “really funny and really mean.” I’m told he will be “much more of the Dr. Horrible variety than Doogie Howser, M.D.”

So not only will we get the How I Met Your Mother star to sing and dance on the show, but he’s going to be evil like Dr. Horrible? Not sure how this could get any better. The Glee writers are currently penning the episode, so expect more details to hit soon.

Glee returns to Fox on April 13th.
