After Dark Films, who over the last couple of years have become well known for releasing horror films to theaters and home video,  has partnered with Dark Castle Home Entertainment to bring you a new franchise of films, this time all action based.

Aptly named After Dark Action will present a collection of original action flicks starring a myriad of established and new talent.

Like they did with their horror compilations, After Dark Films does a tremendous job of bringing  films that would otherwise not get distributed to market. Any one familiar with their previous horror films knows that we can expect some of these films to be great and some to be stinkers, but they are all usually worth a viewing.

The Tomb is quickly shaping up to be an Expendables-level action extravaganza. With the casting of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzennegger as the protagonists of The Tomb, many foresaw issues with finding a villainous actor great enough to compete with the two most recognizable action stars on the planet.

With casting revealed by producer Mark Canton (300, Immortals) on The Mathew Aaron show, any questions as to whether they’d find a good enough actor to counter Stallone and Schwarzennegger can now be quelled.  In a great bit of casting, “[Jim] Caviezel will be playing the role of the warden of the prison in which Schwarzenegger & Stallone attempt to escape from.”

The Tomb follows Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he’s ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design.

The primetime TV landscape for Fall is almost complete. With NBC, ABC and Fox already releasing their schedules for Fall, CBS now joins in and has announced their primetime schedule for 2011 and 2012 as well.

Some of the changes made by the network for Fall include moving CSI from Thursday to Wednesday nights and launching new drama Person of Interest in its place. In addition, The Good Wife will move to Sundays and Rules of Engagement to Saturdays.

New series from the network include three new dramas and two new comedies. They are as follows: Person of Interest, a crime thriller from executive producer J.J. Abrams starring Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson and Taraji P. Henson; Unforgettable, starring Dylan Walsh and Poppy Montgomery as a former detective with a rare condition that enables her to remember virtually every detail from every day of her life.

In addition, CBS will debut A Gifted Man about a preeminent surgeon whose life changes forever when his deceased ex-wife returns, starring Patrick Wilson and Jennifer Ehle; 2 Broke Girls, a comedy about two strikingly different young waitresses who form an unlikely friendship, starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs; and an odd-couple comedy, How to Be A Gentleman, starring David Hornsby and Kevin Dillon, about a refined magazine columnist and his very unrefined personal trainer.

These new series will be joined by 19 returning shows including NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, 60 Minutes, Hawaii Five-O, Mike & Molly, Survivor and The Amazing Race.

The Thin Red Line (1998) marks the triumphant return of American film maker Terrence Malick’s return after a twenty year hiatus from the studio system. Anyone who was anyone in Hollywood circles jumped on the production of the film, even if it was just a brief walk on role. In fact, many A -list talents like Robert De Niro, Robert Duvall, Bill Pullman, Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, Peter Berg, Dermot Mulroney, Edward Burns, William Baldwin, Edward Norton, Matthew McConaughey, Nicolas Cage, and Johnny Depp were very interested in joining the cast or were either cut from the film due to editing and budget constraints.

Malick was best known for two films in the 1970s which were Badlands (1973) and Days of Heaven (1978) which were renowned for their breathtaking cinematography and for Malick’s ability to capture magnificent exterior shots much like John Ford’s sweeping westerns Stagecoach (1939), and The Searchers (1956). The beautiful cinematography of the film is credited to John Toll who is an absolute genius.

Malick wrote the screenplay based on author James Jones 1962 novel which chronicles his experiences during the campaign. Pvt. Fife (Brody) is actually Jones who serves as the main character in the book, yet in the film is reduced to a minor character.

The film stars some of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors such as Sean Penn (1st Sgt. Edward Welsh), Adrien Brody (Pvt. Geoffrey Fife), Jim Caviezel (Pvt. Robert Witt), Ben Chaplin (Pvt. John Bell), George Clooney (Capt. Charles Bosche), John Cusack (Capt. John Graff), John Savage (Sgt. McCron), John Travolta (Brig. Gen. Quintard), Arie Vereen (Pfc. Charlie Dale), Kirk Acevedo (Pvt. Tella), Mark Boone Junior (Pvt. Peale), Woody Harrelson (Sgt. Keck), Elias Koteas (Capt. James Staros), Tim Blake Nelson (Pvt. Tills), John C. Reilly (Sgt. Storm), and Nick Nolte (Lt. Col. Gordon Tall).

We like to showcase and bring you news of different kinds of entertainment here at The Flickast. From movies to tv, comics, games and all things geek, we try our best to find the most interesting, entertaining and informative stuff we can. Its not always very serious, but we always try to make it fun. But sometimes, a film comes along that’s very serious and deals with a subject that’s not fun at all but still warrants attention. That film is The Stoning of Soraya M.

The film, which features Academy Award nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) and Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ, Deja Vu), was the recent winner of the LA Film Festival’s Audience Award. It’s based on the true story of an Iranian village’s persecution of an innocent woman named Soraya who’s only crime is being in a bad marriage. This leads her cruel, divorce-seeking husband to conspire against her, trumping up charges of infidelity, which carries a terrible penalty: She will be stoned to death.

Once the plot against her is discovered, Soraya, with the help of her friend Zahra (Aghdashloo) and a journalist stranded in her villiage (Caviezel) will attempt to prove Soraya’s innocence in a legal system stacked against her.  But when all else fails, Zahra will risk everything to use the sole weapon she has left – the fearless, passionate voice that can share Soraya’s story with a shocked world.
