Interview: Adam Green and Cast Discuss ‘Hatchet 2′

by Shannon Hood, Dec 1 2010 // 12:30 PM

Back in October, Hatchet 2 made history as being the first film to be released by a major movie theater chain (AMC) with no rating.  Horror aficionados hailed the decision as breakthrough, now a horror movie could be seen as the director originally intended.

Their praise was cut short when the chain abruptly pulled the movie from their theaters before its opening weekend was over. There was a storm of controversy; fans cried censorship, and AMC blamed poor ticket sales.

No one knows the real story, but one thing is clear-Adam Green and the production crew got completely screwed over.  Today, the movie finally comes out On Demand at several different outlets. I got to speak with director Adam Green  along with stars Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder about the film earlier this year.

Green is a well-respected horror director, previously know for Hatchet, a film that introduced a new horror icon named Victor Crowley.  He also directed the criminally underrated Frozen. Danielle Harris has been affectionately dubbed a scream queen for her appearances in Rob Zombies Halloween and Halloween 2, along with the television series Fear Clinic.  Kane Hodder is nothing short of a legend in the business, having done stunts for over 72 well-known films, and acting in many as well.

See ‘All Good Things’ A Month Before It Hits Theaters

by Shannon Hood, Oct 26 2010 // 12:00 PM

More and more movie studios are using unconventional methods to distribute their movies, and it gives us a lot more options than we ever had before.  It used to be that if you didn’t live on one of the coasts, or in a huge city, you could never catch an independent or arthouse film while it ran in theaters.  You had to wait months and months for the film to be released on DVD.

Now, we are seeing more and more movies getting a “pre-theatrical release” via On Demand.  You can choose an outlet, pay a minimal fee, and watch the movie in the comfort of your home.

Ryan Gosling’s latest film, All Good Things, will make it’s debut On Demand on November 5, a full month before it shows in theaters. The movie also stars Kirsten Dunst, Kristin Wiig, Frank Langella, and Philip Baker Hall.

Andrew Jarecki (Capturing the Friedmans) directs and produces the film.  Jarecki also produced this year’s Sundance hit Catfish.

Synopsis: Inspired by the most notorious missing persons case in New York history, All Good Things is a love story and murder mystery set against the backdrop of a New York real estate dynasty in the 1980′s.

You can watch the official trailer embedded after the jump.  The movie will be available On Demand via Amazon, Play Station 3,  ATT Uverse, Xbox 360, and more.  For a complete list of available outlets, visit the Magnolia website.

Some of these classic titles include The Wizard of OZ, Singin’ In The Rain, Gone With The Wind, and other favorites such as Poltergeist, North By Northwest, 2001: A Space Odyssey and more. If you’ve never seen these classic films this is yet another way to get a chance to experience them.

Many of these are essential viewing for anyone who wants to understand the magic and power of movies. Plus, its a great way to get some entertainment without having to do much except click your mouse a few times. Then, just sit back, relax and enjoy some great movies.
