We’re still on the fence about the upcoming Conan the Barbarian. Sure, it could be cool and star Jason Momoa might just become the “next big thing” and take Arnold’s place as our new favorite Cimmerian warrior.
Or, the film could just as easily go down as yet another in a string of bad ideas that die a quick death at the box office. That’s what makes this business so interesting. Pretty much anything can, and does, happen.
Regardless of what will happen in the future, right now we’ve got the new poster for the film to share with you today. It gives us a good look at the character in action and if the movie ends up looking, and being, this cool, we’re hooked.
Here’s some more info about the film direct from the studio:
A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
In addition to Momoa as Conan, the film features Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui and Ron Perlman. It’s directed by Marcus Nispel and written by Thomas Dean Donnelly & Joshua Oppenheimer and Sean Hood.
Check out the full poster after the jump. Conan the Barbarian hits theaters on August 19th.

Welcome to another edition of On the Radar where we delve into all corners of the entertainment, tech and geek Internets for news, views and whatnot that may have escaped our regular coverage during the week. Let is know if we missed something interesting.
Let’s get started!
• In case you were under a rock and missed the Super Bowl on Sunday, Apple has all of your favorite trailers from the telecast in glorious HD.
• Russell Brand is back in action, this time with a remake of the classic film Arthur. We can buy Luis Guzman as Robin, but Jennifer Garner being seductive? No way.
• Detroit is taking a page from their fictional history and trying to raise money to put a RoboCop statue in the center of town. That should stop all the crime.
• Amber Heard is in talks to play Ren Sonja in the upcoming remake. She already has the red hair and Amazonian body down, so she sounds like a fit!
• Now that he has that political mid-life crisis out of the way, Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking to get back into acting. Do we smell a sequel to Jingle All The Way?
• Alex Borstein has returned to play Ms. Swan to bring us a Black Swan spoof. Totally topical, right?
• For the diehard film fanatic: 100 of the greatest Noir posters ever created.
• Supercut of the Week: Because Valentines’ Day is coming up, we bring you the Epic TV Kisses Supercut.

This week On the Radar a bunch of gaming news about Halo and Gears of War, Red Sonja switches up celebrity hotties, Mark Strong talks Sinestro in Green Lantern and Tom Arnold takes to the sea to fight aliens!
Court dismisses Marvel, Stan Lee law suit. Excelsior!
While Stan Lee has been working overtime on film cameos and convention appearances he’s also been dealing with legal fights. This one was between Stan Lee Media Inc. and it’s former board members. At it’s most basic level the case was over ownership of mainstream characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Fantastic Four.
The judge dismissed the case based on two primary factors. First, the shareholders did not acquire their shares until a year after the issue of ownership occurred and second, said shareholders should not have waited nearly a decade to file their case. No word yet on whether the decision will be appealed so until next time true believers…
Halo movie will be happening at some point
What should be an easy sell as far as a video game adaption, Halo has struggled to gain traction with studios. However, Frank O’Connor of Microsoft Game Studios has said the film will happen eventually:
“We’re going to make a movie when the time is right,” he said. “We own the IP. If we want to make a movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes dramatically. We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie, but it changes everything. It also changes our target and age demographic.”
