You may expect that as a contributor to a site like this I watch a lot of TV. You would be correct. However, that doesn’t mean I want to watch a lot of bad TV — which, believe me, happens more than I’ll admit.
Fortunately, one show I like to watch is neither bad nor something I’m reluctant to admit I really like. That show is FX’s Sons of Anarchy.
Created by former The Shield writer/producer Kurt Sutter, Sons takes a hard look at the relationships and exploits of a a motorcycle club and their quest for relevance in an ever changing world. The show is gritty, violent and pulls no punches when it comes to its characters and story. In short, it’s one of the best shows on TV and if you’re not watching it, you should be.
Take a look at a new promo for Season 3 after the break. Sons of Anarchy returns on September 7th only on FX. Leading up to the premiere, be sure to check back right here for some exclusive interviews with the cast and creators.

Since I was first exposed to Conan in cinematic form by Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Milius in 1982′s Conan the Barbarian, that version has been by definitive on screen incarnation of Robert E. Howard’s character. Now, with the reboot of the franchise well underway and a new actor taking on the role, I may need to get used to a whole new version.
Previously, we brought you news of the new actor, Jason Momoa, and some other info from the film. Now, we’ve got another more “official” look at Momoa as Conan in this new photo from the Nu Boyana Film Studios site.
Although it’s just one pic he does look a lot like Conan, especially as envisioned by Frank Frazetta in many of his iconic paintings. Momoa seems to have the look of a true Cimmerian and I, for one, am going to give him a chance to supplant Arnold’s portrayal as my favorite.
The Lionsgate release of Conan, under the direction of Marcus Nispel, in addition to Moma features Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Ron Perlman, Said Taghmaoui and Rose McGowan. Look for it to hit theaters sometime in 2011.
Check out a larger pic of Momoa as Conan after the break.

Former The Shield writer/producer and current Sons of Anarchy creator/exec. producer/writer Kurt Sutter has a blog and on it he tells it like it is about working in Hollywood, making the show, the motorcycle culture and pretty much anything else he damn well pleases. He’s also recently posted a list of frequently asked questions about his show, Sons of Anarchy, that he obviously gets asked, well, frequently.
The questions are some of the typical ones a successful person in Hollywood who is producing a well-known and respected show gets asked. In fact, he’s probably heard these questions so may times he’s lost count. Hence, the FAQ. Really, if you think about it, Sutter is not only providing a great show for us to watch but also a valuable public service as well. Gotta hand it to the guy.
Some of the highlights of the FAQ include:
I have a great idea for the show, can I send it you?
No. I cannot accept any ideas, pitches, stories, scripts, notions or dreams from anyone. It’s a legal issue. It protects me and you. If you send it, post it or email it — it will be shredded, removed and deleted. Sorry.
I want to be an actor on your show, how do I audition?

Halloween is officially 8 days away (7 if you celebrate on the 30th), so it would make sense for a studio like Lionsgate to put out lots of genre films to coincide with the spookiest of holidays, right? Wrong, because according to them, March is the new Halloween. Whatever that means.
There is a brand new teaser out for Season of the Witch, starring Ron Perlman, Stephen Campbell Moore (The Bank Job), Ulrich Thomsen (Hitman), and yes, Nic Cage. Also, don’t be surprised that a film about witches isn’t coming out around Halloween, because director Dominic Sena’s last film, Whiteout, sat on the shelf for nearly a year before a soft release.
Though October is considered a dead financial month for films, it was nice that the trailer tried to cover it up by proclaiming that “Halloween is for Amateurs.” March isn’t a much better time, but it is where bad horror films go to die, so don’t expect much on March 19th when Season of the Witch opens nationwide.
Check out the first teaser trailer after the jump!

As I’ve probably mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Kurt Sutter’s FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Its a gritty drama about a gang of outlaw bikers who struggle to cling to their way of life, keep their families together and make a living, albeit a dishonest one, in the town of Charming, CA. I can honestly say its one of my favorite shows on tv today. The first season did well and Season Two is currently filming and will premiere in September.
Previously, Sutter had posted some pictures on his blog from the new season. These pictures depicted scenes from the show being and the cast and crew at work as Season Two takes shape. They also showcase some of my favorite actors from the show including Charlie Hunnam, Ryan Hurst, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior and Ron Perlman.
This time around, Sutter is back with more pics and as before, they show filming in progress, more behind the scenes glimpses of the cast at work and more shots of some of the show’s great characters. If you haven’t yet checked out Sons of Anarchy, you still have time. Season One is on DVD now so you can watch it and Season Two doesn’t premiere until September. So, you have plenty of time. What are you waiting for?

You may recall that recently I brought you the first pics from the set taken by Sons of Anarchy creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter. Those pics were taken by him during production of the show’s second season, which got underway last month. Now, Sutter is at it again and has posted even more behind the scenes shots over at his personal blog.
This time Sutter has shared quite a few more pictures than last time and has also gone to the trouble to display them in an artistic collage depicting all sorts of scenes from the production. We’re also treated to even more glimpses of many of my favorite characters from the show including Charlie Hunnam as Jax, Ron Perlman as Clay, Tommy Flannigan as Chibs, Mark Boone Junior as Bobby and William Lucking as Piney. Sadly, no pics of the talented Katey Sagal this time, only her empty chair.
There’s also some shots taken during a night shoot as well as several of the sets, motorcycles, director’s chairs and many other things that help to give you an idea of the “look and feel” of a television series during production. As as I don’t spend much time on set anymore doing production, seeing these photos kinda makes me miss those days a little. . . but only a little. Those eighteen hour days were a bitch.
Although, it would be cool to have one of those Sons of Anarchy D-Chair backs for my own chair currently sitting in the garage backless. Maybe someday. Season 2 of Sons of Anarchy comes to the FX network in September.

One of the nice things about working for a website covering different types of entertainment is that you often get a chance to highlight a show that people may not know much about. Case in point is the superb FX original series Sons of Anarchy — which I’ve mentioned on The Flickcast before. The show, created and executive produced by The Shield alumni Kurt Sutter, follows an outlaw biker gang that’s more family than criminal and how they deal with outsiders, internal conflics, changing times and constant scrutiny by the law.
Its a great show full of excellent performances from Charlie Hunnam as Jax, a new father struggling to reconcile his outlaw ways with the demands and responsibilities of parenthood, to Ron Perlman as Clay, the leader of the club who’s trying to keep his surrogate family together while all around him things are falling apart to Katey Segal as Clay’s wife, Gemma, who stands by her man and works to keep her family, and their way of life, intact at any cost.
I enjoy the show a great deal and am looking forward to its return for a second season. Fortunately, I don’t have to wait too long as the show is now in production on season two and as a bonus, Sutter has posted some pics from the production at his personal blog. Seeing these, and some of my favorite characters back at work, makes me very happy indeed.
The new season of Sons of Anarchy premieres in September on FX. Be sure and check it out. You’ll be glad you did.
