Game of Thrones is one of those shows that uses the concept of a severed head very liberally. You see them often, so when a scene calls for multiple heads on spikes it might be difficult for the production crew to whip out a new head. So sometimes they redress one that they have lying around the offices.
Normally that just becomes a fun little anecdote that gets shared on a DVD commentary, but in this case it becomes an overblown semi-crisis when one of those heads happens to strongly resemble that of a recent US President.
Deadline has been following this bizarre story, which now includes an official HBO apology:
We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, creators of the hit series, say the head was not meant as a political statement, but rather the product of a production crew scrapping the bottom of the severed head barrel towards the end of production. Considering this story only found the light of day due to their own words in the DVD commentary of the episode, it’s probably a true origin.
So there you have it, better go out and pick up the first printing of those Game of Thrones season one DVDs and Blu-Rays before they re-release the sets sans Dubbya’s severed noggin. The long, slow wait for season three continues.

One of the most endearing parts of Who Framed Roger Rabbit was the imagined world where Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse were denizens of the same world. It was a real thrill to see classic animated characters from multiple companies come together for one film.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Disney is at it again with their new film Wreck-It Ralph:
The movie features other spoofs of real-life games: Glee‘s Jane Lynch is a Sarge-like figure (Halo) in a sci-fi first-person shooter called Hero’s Duty, and comedian Sarah Silverman voices cutie-pie Vanellope Von Schweetz in a dessert-themed Mario Kart-style racing game called Sugar Rush.
But before Ralph ventures into those worlds, we find him confessing his woes in a support group for fellow videogame villains, and that’s where the first big cameos begin.
So on top of spoofs, the movie will also see actual cameos for famous video game characters. The EW article goes on to name a who’s who of classic villains, including Dr. Robotnik and Bowser. Does this foreshadow an appearance by two of the most famous video game mascots ever, Mario and Sonic?
What is also interesting is that it appears that a zombie, potentially from the Resident Evil universe, also appears. The truth of the video game industry is that there are a lot of mature titles and franchises that kids are drawn too, would a Disney animated feature call reference to them? You can find out when Wreck-It Ralph hits cinemas this winter.

Stan Lee has undoubtedly had a pretty amazing career, going as far back as the days of the Marvel Bullpen. He has the mantle of creating some of the world’s most beloved and well-known characters, as well as the impressive feat of still being alive to see them come to visual fruition in the form of big-budget films.
Though he may have had a bit of a lover’s quarrel with Marvel a few years back, they seemed to have made up, and Stan has been making the rounds in just about every Marvel film dating back to Spider-Man. In just the world of Iron Man alone, “The Man” has played Hugh Hefner, Larry King, and in a brand new spot for Dr. Pepper, a janitor at Tony Stark’s house.
The spot is pretty funny, but for those who aren’t laughing, you still get a look at Stark’s array of Iron Man costumes (including what looks to be the classic “Secret Wars” armor), as well as the voice of Paul Bettany as Jarvis.
Check out the spot after the jump, and be sure to catch Iron Man 2 in theaters and IMAX on May 7th.

There’s a lot of anticipation for the upcoming The A-Team film. Most of the hype is probably being generated by yours truly. What can I say? I really want to see this film be a huge success.
Well, let me add to the hype machine with news that the original “Howling Mad” Murdoch will have a cameo in the new movie. According to the official Dwight Shultz site:
“We are pleased to inform you all that Dwight has actually already been working in Vancouver, where he has played a cameo role in The A-Team movie. Sharlto Copely, the South African actor who plays Murdock, is according to Dwight: ‘brilliant beyond words’. Dwight has seen his screen test and he stated: that honestly, if Sharlto is given an opportunity to do what I saw in that test, “Murdock” will be better than ever!’ Sharlto has been very kind to him on the set and Dwight must say that he has been treated very well.”
It’s great to hear the old Murdoch fully endorse the new Murdoch. Further, as cool as it will be to see an original A-Team cast member return Shultz’s inclusion will also cater to all the Star Trek fans who remember him as Lt. Reginald Barclay III. Now we just need to get Dirk Benedict and Mr. T involved to make this possibly the best remake ever.
The A-Team comes to theaters June 11, 2010
