That’s right, it’s time for a brand new episode of the occasional series The Flickcast. And no, we still don’t have a joke for this one. And yes, we’re still sorry. We’re doing the best we can.
Moving right along, on this week’s episode Chris and Joe discuss a bunch of new stuff including Logan, The Expanse, Iron Fist, Into the Badlands and much more. Plus, the usual even more.
No beer selections this week except to remind you to buy local, if you can. Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the AMC Series Into the Badlands and Joe’s pick of the Netflix movie ARQ.
As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship, or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at Facebook, Google+ or shoot us an email.

With the last season of Smallville swiftly moving along, The Flickcast decided to talk to one of the most convoluted characters to reside in the sleepy town, Tess Mercer. She’s been a good girl, bad girl, and somewhere in between- so in essence a real woman.
Popping on the scene as the mysterious heir and CEO to LuthorCorp in Season 8, she’s since been through many tenuous trials. She’s fought to save humanity, albeit killing a few in her way.
She’s survived multiple deaths, multiple kryptonite-fueled personalities of Clark Kent, and multiple conspiracies. The best is yet to come.
The Flickcast: You were first cast in Season 8 of Smallville, did you think the show would continue for many more seasons?
Cassidy Freeman: I thought this was a one year job. I mean they signed me on for three, so they had me if they wanted me for three. But I was told maybe a year and every year we get renewed. It’s almost like a roller coaster ride of a path. I feel like the end of this series has had such strength to it.
I mean, I’ve watched it all in wanting to get familiar with the show and I’m not saying that just because I’m in it, but I think that they’ve taken some chances and we’re more grown-up and I really, really enjoy being in it and watching it.
TF: Tess Mercer’s walked as much on the side of light as that of dark. What are your thoughts on playing this complex character?

A few months ago, we first got word that director D.J. Caruso, who brought us such sci-fi thrillers as Eagle Eye and Distrubia was working on a brand new film based on the Pittacus Lore (aka James Frey & Jobie Hughes) book I Am Number Four. The film’s script comes from Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and brings together an interesting cast of up and coming actors.
Now, we’re getting the first taste of the film’s look and feel as the very first teaser trailer has hit the web. It definitely looks like something a bit different for Caruso, giving a bit of an Island meets Twilight vibe. Here’s the official synopsis, for those who want it spelled out.
Nine infant aliens, who closely resemble humans, flee their home planet, Lorien, to hide on Earth. An invading species, the Mogadorians, have destroyed their planet, and follow them to Earth to hunt them down. Each of the nine aliens is given a guardian and will develop superhuman powers as they become adults. They are each assigned a number. These last children of Lorien can only be killed in the sequence of their numbers.
Number Four, also named John Smith, moves to Paradise, Ohio, disguised as an American high school student. He makes a friend, Sarah, a sweet Midwestern girl who is a photographer. After being on the run his whole life, Number Four falls in love and now has something to stand up and fight for.
The film joins Beastly star Alex Pettyfer, Glee’s Dianna Agron, Timothy Olyphant, and Legion’s Kevin Durand. Check out the full trailer after the jump, and catch I Am Number 4 in theaters on February 18th, 2011.

Even with a couple of big screen adaptations already out there it looks like the venerable Charlie’s Angels franchise is going to be rebooted yet again. Only this time, it will be back on the small screen where it all started and ABC has chosen the writing team to make it happen.
Former Smallville executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are taking over writing duties on Angels, which ABC is developing for a potential pilot order and midseason launch. The dynamic duo will replace Josh Friedman, who initially was hired to adapt the project but obviously isn’t working out.
Gough and Millar created and launched Smallville and then ran it for seven seasons before leaving the show in 2008. Even with the addition of these two, the rest of the Angels creative team remains the same, which includes the movie’s producers Drew Barrymore, Leonard Goldberg and Nancy Juvonen.
Not that we necessarily need another Charlie’s Angels (nor do we probably need a reboot of Hawaii Five-O or Rockford Files but it seems we may get one of those too), but it might be fun. Plus, these two guys are pretty talented and have shown they can develop a show, get it launched and carry it a long way. Let’s hope they can inject some of the same into their new project.

We have been more than vocal about our feeling that Sam Worthington is being pushed onto worldwide audiences as an action star, regardless of his relative merits. His work in films like Avatar, Terminator Salvation, and most recently Clash of the Titans, however, proves to studios that he’s a bankable enough name to attach him to even more potential franchises.
With that in mind, Worthington has just been tapped to play the titular role in Dreamworks’ upcoming big-budget sci-fi adaptation of the literary character Allan Quatermain, in the film Quatermain. From Heat Vision:
Allan Quatermain was the hero of “King’s Solomon’s Mines,” a Victorian adventure novel by H. Rider Haggard, and its sequel, “Allan Quatermain.” In the first book, Quatermain leads an expedition into an unexplored region of Africa to find the brother of a friend as well as a fabled treasure of the lost mines.
DreamWorks’ version is set in a time in which humans have left Earth and sees Quatermain return to the planet from a sojourn in space, embarking on another “King Solomon’s Mines”-style adventure but on a planetwide scale. Mark Verheiden was the writer behind the first script when the project was revealed early last year.
