Building on the success of Avatar, the seemingly everywhere Sam Worthington has apparently already picked his next role: Dracula. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Worthington is currently in negotiations to star in director Alex Proyas’ vampire epic Dracula Year Zero for Universal and producer Michael De Luca.

The film, written by Matt Sazama and Buck Sharpless, will explore the origins of Dracula and his ties to Vlad the Impaler. It will reportedly portray the titular vampire as both demonic evil and tragic, flawed hero. The film currently has no start date and is still in development.

As a fan of Proyas’ previous work with The Crow and Dark City, I’m hopeful his take on Dracula will be equally as visually compelling and also feature interesting characters and situations. That said, the movie does sound a lot like Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 version of Dracula, which featured Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder.

As for Worthington, I’m still not convinced that he’s the “next big thing” even as studios shove him in our faces more and more. I just don’t find him that interesting. No matter what, I guess we’ll find out how he handles Dracula when this film eventually hits theaters.

For many people, Tucker Max’s book I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell served as a “do’s and dont’s” when it came to drinking and dating in your mid twenties. The book made the New York Times best seller list in 2006, 2007, and 2008. This past year, a film adaptation of the same name was released, to a mild response from fans.

The film featured Gilmore Girls star Matt Czuchry as Tucker Max, with Jesse Bradford and 7th Heaven’s Geoff Stults along for the ride. It was directed by Niagra, Niagra director Bob Gosse.

With the DVD hitting shelves this week, we felt it was only appropo to bring you come scenes that were just too much to make it into the final cut of the film. Be sure to check them out after the jump, and pick up I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell in stores now.

This week on The Flickcast, Matt and Chris fly solo again as they take on Conan’s last episode and the classy way he handles it as well as the casting of a different Conan in a reboot of Conan the Barbarian. In addition they also talk about the upcoming Powers TV series, The Goon going digital and the amazing success of Avatar. They also discuss some other topics including the new Fox show Human Target, Jackie Earle Haley’s career, Spactacus: Blood and Sand, the nature of modern movies and the greatness of Die Hard.

Chris and Matt also made more picks this week. Matt went with Swimming with Sharks, and Chris picked the cult classic Coogan’s Bluff starring Clint Easwood as a cowboy in the big city who teaches those city slickers a thing or two about justice.

If you happen to be in California, you may think that Comic-Con in San Diego is the final word on all-things comic convention. Well, you would be wrong.

Sometimes a video needs an explanation so you can better understand its significance or its substance. Other times, a video needs no introduction and can stand on its own. This video is one of those second ones. But I’m still gonna give it one anyway.

Yesterday, Apple reported its financial results for Q1 2010, which ended December 26, 2009, and said results were, to say the least, impressive. The company had its all time highest quarterly revenue and its all time highest quarterly profit.

Here are the important numbers:

• Revenue of $15.68 Billion

• 58% of revenue derived from international sales

• Net quarterly profit of $3.38 Billion or $3.67 per diluted share

• Gross margin of 40.9 %

• $5.8 Billion generated in cash

Sales of Macintosh computers and iPhones blew up with Apple selling 3.36 Million computers and 8.7 Million iPhones, representing a 33% increase for Macintosh sales and 100% growth for the iPhone when compared to Q1 2009.

Who doesn’t love a good “swapped bodies” storyline? Just about every show has done it at one point. From Buffy to Gilligan’s Island to The X-Files, there are over 50 TV episodes that focus on the plot, and now that Supernatural has hit its fifth season, its their turn.

It isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Plenty of shows have stooped lower by pulling off a “trapped in a freezer and forced to tell stories” clip show, or even a musical episode. The “body swap” storyline is only a right of passage after you hit so many episodes, and it looks like this one is just that. From The CW:

High school nerd Gary (guest star Colton James), conjures up a body-switching spell and changes bodies with Sam (Jared Padalecki).  Thrilled by his new handsome and built body, Gary (now Sam) investigates a case with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and takes advantage of Sam’s good looks and age by hitting on women and getting drunk. Meanwhile, the real Sam is stuck inside Gary’s teenage body, dealing with intrusive parents and high school.

The episode also guest stars Mad Men’s Sarah Drew. Check out two new clips from the upcoming “Swap Meat” episode, and be sure to catch it this Thursday night at 9:00 PM ET/PT on The CW.

Many people are speculating that Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s upcoming Prince of Persia will carry on the financial mantle of the team’s previous franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean. After we took a look at the very first trailer, we’re now inclined to agree with that theory.

The film could also be what finally puts Jake Gyllenhaal on the map as an action star, which may be the logical next step in his career. Alongside Jake, the film stars Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, and Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace), and comes from a script by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited).

Disney just released three new character posters, showing off Kingsley, Arterton, and Gyllenhaal looking stoic. Even Ben has a bit of a photoshop’d twinkle in his eye for some reason. The internet gods have come up with a few impressive time-wasters over the past couple of years. From the birth of flash games to pictures of kittens to an endless supply of “Vampire vs. Zombie vs. Tree”-style games on Facebook, there are certainly many things to do to keep you away from actual work.

In that same vein comes The Akinator, a mind-reading website that will tell you exactly what character–be it film or TV–that you are currently thinking of. While the name isn’t all that impressive (sounds too much like a machine that turns you into a former American Idol), but the service will definitely impress you.

We’ve been passing this around the Flickcast offices, trying to stump the so-called “web genius” and we’ve yet to find a wrong answer. From characters like The Stay-Puft Marshmallow man to Captain Mal Reynolds, the web-app is definitely a fun time-waster, and will even impress you along the way.

Now that things have finally calmed down for Kristen Stawart after New Moon swept the nation, it’s finally time for fans to get excited for her upcoming biopic about the legendary rock group The Runaways. Stewart takes the lead in the film as Joan Jett, with Dakota Fanning playing Cherie Currie and Scout Taylor-Compton playing Lita Ford, as well as others.

The film is said to be a coming-of-age biopic that takes place when the band was first being formed, and the turmoil that broke the band up in 1979. In a new clip that we just got our hands on, we get a glimpse at the very first introduction between Joan Jett (Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Fanning).

With exactly one week left before our minds get blown once again in the final season premiere of LOST, fans everywhere are still jonesing for whatever tidbits the internet has to offer about the upcoming episodes. We’ve been sure to bring you as much as we could, with new promos and pics, but this latest TV spot seems to give the most that we’ve seen.

Last we left everyone in season 5, Jacob was dead, Locke’s body was shown to the “undead” Locke, and Juliet set off the bomb that may or may not have reset time back to before all of this happened. Next week’s premiere is titled “LA X”, which could signify the airport that everyone was supposed to land in if things went well. It could also (and most likely) be a misdirection.
