What You Missed: ’30 Rock’, ‘The Office’, And ‘Community’

by Heather Toshiko, Apr 23 2010 // 3:00 PM

Were you watching something else last night instead of NBC’s great Thursday comedies? Have never heard of or don’t know how to use a VCR or DVR? Did you go outside last night and interact with actual humans? Well, no matter what you did to miss these shows, don’t worry as we’ve got you covered.

Thanks to our friends at NBC, we’ve got video highlights of all the Thursday night comedies for you today. First, on Community, Jeff creates a monster when he tries to give Abed something meaningful to do all in the name of chicken. Next up on The Office, Andy and Erin hit their first relationship snag when Michael tells her Andy was engaged to Angela. Of course, she doesn’t take the news very well.

Finally on 30 Rock, Jack has a dating dilemma when he tries to balance two women and Liz tries to prove she’s fun by going to every singles event she can possibly attend. Plus, on a second new episode, Liz shows she knows how to party and surprisingly, it doesn’t turn out exactly like she thought it would.

Check out all the great highlights after the jump and for full episodes, head on over to NBC’s website.

by Joe Gillis, Mar 25 2010 // 4:00 PM

It’s Thursday so that means new episodes of some of our favorite comedies are back on NBC. From 30 Rock to Community to The Office, these shows bring the funny and are a welcome break and a great way to spend a Thursday night.

To get you ready for tonight’s shows, our friends at NBC have sent us some videos from each of the four comedies that make up the Thursday night lineup. First off is Community where you can get the scoop from Ken Jeong as he explains how him and Joel McHale are rivals after the “battle of the nudity!” Next on Parks and Rec, two deleted scenes from last week’s episode are sure to get you ready for tonight.

For The Office, we’ve got your first chance to watch the new opening credits which now rightly include the awesome Ed Helms. Finally, on 30 Rock, does Tracy Jordan really have a career in politics ahead of him? Find out as he answers fan mail in this very funny clip.

Check out all the videos after the break. These all-new comedies start tonight at 8/7C with Community.

Oscar Wrap Up

by Shannon Hood, Mar 8 2010 // 10:00 AM

The Winners

Just call her the giant slayer. Kathryn Bigelow and her modest little Iraq War drama The Hurt Locker beat out the behemoth box office champ Avatar for best picture, best director, best original screenplay, best editing, best sound editing, and best sound mixing. Bigelow made history, becoming the first female ever to win the award for directing.

James Cameron and company (Avatar) left with a total of three trophies: best visual effects, best art direction and best cinematography. The cinematography award seemed a little odd. After all, most of this film was computer generated, wasn’t it?

There were no real surprises in the acting categories. Best supporting actress went to Mo’nique for Precious, best supporting actor Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds, best actress was Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side, and Jeff Bridges finally won for Crazy Heart.

Up won best animated feature and best original score, while El Secreto do Sus Ojos (Argentina) won best foreign picture. The Cove won best documentary. For an expanded list of major category winners, scroll to the bottom of the article.

For those of you who were anxiously awaiting news that your favorite Thursday night comedies were getting another season, the wait is over. Today, NBC announced it was giving another season to 30 Rock, The Office and one of our favorite new shows, the extremely funny Community.

This news comes on the heals of NBC’s recent announcement that Parks and Recreation was renewed for another season. Seeing as how we are huge fans of these shows, this news is great and we’re looking forward to more fun and laughs.

For more info, check out the official NBC press release following:

NBC Gives Pickups To Thursday-Night Comedies ’30 Rock,’ ‘The Office’ And ‘Community’ For 2010-11

Renewals Follow Previously Announced Green-light for “Parks and Recreation” on Thursdays

NBC has renewed three more of its Thursday-night comedies – “30 Rock” (9:30-10 p.m. ET), “The Office” (9-9:30 p.m. ET) and the freshman series “Community” (8-8:30 p.m. ET) for the 2010-11 season. What You Missed: ‘Community’, ’30 Rock’ and More

by Chris Ullrich, Feb 12 2010 // 5:00 PM

Once again with last night’s lineup of comedies, NBC proved they are a force to be reckoned with on Thursday nights. And if you missed any of the shows, which include Community, Rock and Parks and Recreation, you’re in luck because we’ve got highlights of all of the shows to share with you right here. Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about The Office as we already had a full recap of that show earlier today.

On Community, Jeff and Slater hit a rough patch but Britta saves the relationship by playing some touching moments from a drunken voicemail that Jeff left her. See how Valentine’s Day ended for Jeff and the rest of the gang in last night’s episode highlights. On 30 Rock, Jenna finds out her stalker has been seeing someone else and Liz deals with Valentine’s day by scheduling oral surgery. Of course, that doesn’t go exactly as planned. Plus, the awesome Elizabeth Banks shows up to give Jack (Alec Baldwin) a run for his money.

Finally, on Parks and Recreation, Andy dreams of being a rockstar were slightly derailed last night as his band was relegated to playing at the senior center. He wants to know how his band sounds, but how does he find out?

Check out all the highlights and some deleted scenes, after, you guessed it, the jump.

Bon Jovi Stops By With Advice In 2 New ’30 Rock’ Clips

by Joe Gillis, Feb 11 2010 // 9:00 AM

All week long, we’ve been giving you a sneak peek at some of tonight’s big comedies on NBC, such as Community and The Office. We’re topping that off today with two hot new clips from tonight’s episode of 30 Rock. From NBC:

To avoid feeling lonely on Valentine’s Day, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) schedules a root canal but soon realizes she hasn’t thought it through. Meanwhile, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) woos an attractive and successful CNBC host, Avery Jessup (guest star Elizabeth Banks), and Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) is disappointed when her creepy stalker loses interest.

Yes, Valentine’s Day seems to be the running motif in tonight’s programming. This may not be the worst thing in the world for those out there without someone to spend it with, because it gives us something to laugh at, which helps.

Check out the newest clips from the “Anna Howard Shaw Day” episode of 30 Rock, and catch it in its entirety tonight on NBC.

Four New Clips From This Week’s ’30 Rock’

by Matt Raub, Feb 1 2010 // 9:00 AM

While everything will be coming to a screeching halt pretty soon on NBC for their wall-to-wall coverage of the Winter Olympics, this Thursday is an all new night of comedy for the network. A big chunk of that will be 30 Rock as SNL alum Jan Hooks pops by as Jenna’s mom. From NBC:

Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) takes Frank (Judah Friedlander) in as a roommate, and is pleasantly surprised when the two make a pact to help each other kick their bad habits. Meanwhile, Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) turns to Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) for help with her mother, Verna (Jan Hooks), who has come to visit.

Hooks has remained pretty active in TV since she departed from Saturday Night Live back in 1994. She went on to be a recurring guest on 3rd Rock From The Sun and even a few episodes of The Simpsons.

Check out four new clips from the upcoming episode of 30 Rock entitled “Verna” after the jump, and be sure to catch it this Thursday on NBC.

What You Missed: ’30 Rock’, ‘Community’, ‘The Office’ and More

by Joe Gillis, Dec 4 2009 // 10:15 AM

joel-mchale-communityJust in case you were asleep, out of town, forgot or your Tivo, or other brand of DVR, somehow missed recording one or all of our favorite NBC comedies this week, we’ve got some highlights of what you missed right here. Shows such as 30 Rock, Community, The Office and Parks and Recreation are darn funny comedies that also, in many cases, have continuing storylines that go from episode to episode.

So, its a good idea not to miss one of them or you might be lost the following week. Fortunately, you can catch most of these shows on Hulu if you missed them. Or, you can at least try and keep up with the real funny bits by watching the clips from this week’s shows right here after the jump.

Remember to make sure your DVR is primed and ready to record next week when these shows are on. To make sure, keep in mind that 30 Rock is on Thursdays at 9:30/8:30C, Community is on at 8/7C, The Office at 9/8C and Parks and Rec at 8:30/7:30C. Got that? Good.

What You Missed: ‘Community’, ’30 Rock’, ‘The Office’ and More

by Joe Gillis, Nov 20 2009 // 12:30 PM

Community-joel-mchale-chevy-chaseAs we’ve started to do here at the site, we again present a bit of a recap of what you missed if you didn’t watch some of the best comedies currently on television this week. These shows, including Community, 30 Rock and The Office, represent what happens when you get highly creative and extremely funny people together to make a television sitcom. In short, they definitely bring the funny.

This week we’ve got clips from Community, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, The Office and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, mostly because his guest is the terrific Katey Sagal from one of our favorite non-comedies Sons of Anarchy — a show you should be watching. So sit back, relax and spend a few minutes enjoying what these show have to offer.

If you’ve never seen any of these episodes, then you’re in for a treat. If you have, then there’s nothing wrong with laughing at them all over again. Besides, laughter is good for you.

Check out all the video after, you guessed it, the jump.

What You Missed: ’30 Rock’, ‘The Office’, ‘Community’ and More

by Joe Gillis, Nov 13 2009 // 2:15 PM

30_rock_nbc_tv_show_image_tina_fey_alex_baldwin1Sometimes there’s not that much going on in the world of movies, tv, comics, games and all things geek. But sometimes, we also get what some could refer to as “an embarrassment of riches.” We’ve got that second one going for you right here.

Our friends at NBC have just sent us a whole bunch of clips from most of their big comedies that aired this week. Sure, you might have already watched 30 Rock, Community or The Office this week, but if you didn’t, the following clips can at least help you ease some of the pain from the loss of these great shows. I could take the time to explain each clip and walk you thorough what happens but with the sheer volume of material, that could take a long time.

Instead, click through and just enjoy all that these videos have to offer. If you’ve watched these scenes before, this will be a a bit of a nostalgic trip for you. If they’re new to you, then enjoy them and remember to set your DVR for these shows next week.

2009 Emmy Wrap Up

by Shannon Hood, Sep 21 2009 // 8:30 AM

original

Hey, remember the Emmys last year when five different reality show hosts tackled the duties of hosting the show?  Yeah, me either. Dismal ratings required a change of course, and this year the Emmys were…dare  I say it…entertaining! Thanks in large part to Neil Patrick Harris’s impeccable charm and wit, the 2009 Emmy Awards were enjoyable start to finish.

A dapper Neil Patrick Harris (let’s call him NPH for brevity’s sake) was the perfect host.  He started off the show with a musical number that was not awful, and kept the show going at a steady clip throughout the night. His performance garnered accolades from Ricky Gervais and John Stewart, along with millions of us watching at home.  A few highlights from the evening:

Awards were presented in categories.  A genre had all its awards given out before moving on to the next.  Comedy, Drama, Miniseries, Reality and Variety were all represented.  The show producers definitely pushed a comedic theme this year. Hilarious pre-taped clips of  nominees showed them  giving advice or answering a question.
