It’s not particularly surprising that Mad Men and Mildred Pierece had the most nominations today when Melissa McCarthy and Joshua Jackson made the 2011 Primetime Emmy announcement. Jane Lynch will be hosting the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 18.
For the complete list of nominees, head over to the Emmys website. We’ve just got the ones we really care about for you here. (aka The Big Ones).
Of course, the fact that Community isn’t nominated in the Outstanding Comedy category just makes these awards that much less special. Plus, I wouldn’t want to be nominated in a category against Peter Dinklage for Game of Thrones. He’s pretty much got that one in the bag
Check out the nominations below.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory
Matt LeBlanc, Episodes
Louis C.K., Louie
Steve Carell, The Office
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Steve Buscemi, Boardwalk Empire
Michael C. Hall, Dexter
Kyle Chandler, Friday Night Lights
Hugh Laurie, House
Timothy Olyphant, Justified
Jon Hamm, Mad Men

As with ABC yesterday, CBS is next out of the gate with the announcement of its Fall TV premiere dates. As with other networks, CBS has some shows we’re looking forward to seeing again as well as some new ones we might check out.
Some of the ones we’re glad to see back include NCIS, The Good Wife and, of course, The Big Bang Theory. And, as Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn is joining the cast, we’re going to have to give Hawaii Five-O another look as well.
New shows that look interesting include 2 Broke Girls and Person of Interest, although we don’t hold out all that much hope for either. Here’s all the premiere dates (all times are Eastern/Pacific):
Wednesday, Sept. 14
8:00-9:00 PM SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC (23rd edition premiere)
Monday, Sept. 19
8:00-8:30 PM HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (7th season premiere)
8:30-9:00 PM HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (S)
9:00-9:30 PM TWO AND A HALF MEN (9th season premiere)
9:30-10:00 PM 2 BROKE GIRLS (series debut)
10:00-11:00 PM HAWAII FIVE-0 (2nd season premiere)

In the world of TV being on a show that goes longer than one season is often a surprise and a wonderful way to make a living if you can get it. So we can imagine what Johnny Galecki, co-star of The Big Bang Theory, must be feeling having been on the hit series Rosanne for many years and now getting word that his current hit show will be renewed for three more seasons.
CBS made the announcement today and this renewal means the show will be on the network through the 2013-14 season. This doesn’t come as that much of a surprise considering how well the show does in the ratings. In addition, the network has a lot riding on the show considering it recently made a $2 Million per episode syndication deal. So, they really need it to last and obviously are willing to make the commitment to help it do just that.
Obviously, we’re thrilled here at the site because we really enjoy the show and the antics of the cast. Looking forward to watching this one for at least three more years.

Though it may not feel like very long, Conan O’Brien has been off the air for quite some time now. Over at NBC, it’s like we’ve already forgotten that red-haired man that took over The Tonight Show for a brief stint while Leno had his experimental phase. On the web, however, CoCo has been thriving. For 8 weeks, O’Brien and his team have been putting out web videos via TeamCoco.com in which he addresses the fans, takes questions, and keep entertaining. Now, in the dawn of his brand new show on TBS, Conan brings us his first talk show-like format since he was taken off of NBC.
In Show Zero, Conan invites a group of real-life Conan fans to sit in his conference room as the audience as he puts on the fastest talk show in the history of the world. Need legitimacy? His first, and only guest is The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons.
A great idea from Team Coco as they get ready for next Monday’s premiere of Conan on TBS. In the meantime, check out SHOW ZERO after the jump.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not as he’s pretty much expresseed zero desire for any kind of ramantic relationshiop on the show but Sheldon Cooper (aka actor Jim Parsons) will be at least going on a date (and potentially more) before the end of this season on The Big Bang Theory.
According to THR, actress Miriam Bialik (recently of CBS’ Til Death) will make an appearance on the season finale of the show as a “female version of Sheldon” he meets on the online dating service eHarmony. If things go well she may end up as a recurring character on the show, potentially giving Sheldon an actual girlfriend next season.
Once again, not really sure if this is a good idea or not. One of the most appealing things about Sheldon as a character is his single minded belief that he’s unique in the Universe and any kind of relationshio would be a waste of time.
If he ends up getting a girl it seems like that would be a fundamental shift in character for him. Although, maybe he’ll realize that he needs to share his genius with the world via offspring? Could happen.
No matter what we’ll find out when the season finale airs on May 24.

Not since the earlier years of Frasier has there been a successful sitcom on TV which focused around the humor of intelligent people. CBS and Warner Bros.’ Big Bang Theory both revels and exceeds in that category, coining the phrase “Smart is the new sexy.”
This third season has gotten even better with guest stars from comic legend Stan Lee to Battlestar Galacitica’s Katee Sackhoff. The show manages to speak to the inner geek in everyone, while remaining humorous to every viewer, and remaining a steady story. From CBS, next week’s episode looks to be fun as well:
In order to solve a daunting physics problem, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) begs Penny (Kelly Cuoco) to let him work at her restaurant, while Leonard (Johnny Galecki) tries his hardest to keep the two from erupting.
We’ve got four new clips from next week’s episode, entitled “The Einstein Approximation” after the jump, and be sure to catch The Big Bang Theory on CBS, every Monday at 9:30pm ET/PT.

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows that has crept up on many fans and become one of the most watched TV sitcoms on the air today. The show managed to take a simple premise (nerdy boy falls in love with neighbor while even nerdier best friend gets into weekly antics) and turn it into something that has been quite entertaining for 3 seasons.
We’ve just gotten a few new clips from an upcoming November episode entitled “The Cornhusker Vortex” in which Leonard wishes to take part in Penny’s football party, but becomes more of a burden than a guest.
Not only has the CBS comedy had fan favorite Wil Wheaton on as a guest star, they will also have Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff making a cameo in an episode later this season as….Katee Sackhoff.
Check out the four clips after the jump. Be sure to catch The Big Bang Theory on CBS Mondays at 9:30pm/8:30pm Central.

Its pretty rare these days that I watch a TV show for the first time and instantly like it. Usually, a show takes time to grow on me or, in many cases, doesn’t and I end up moving on to something else. Like most people, my time is valuable and I only have so much, so I want to spend time where it counts watching shows of quality. Much to my happiness, The Big Bang Theory is a show I instantly liked and have been a devoted watcher of from day one.
The setup may seem rather familiar to anyone who’s watched a sitcom in the last twenty years. Sheldon and Leonard (Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons) two nerdy, comic book loving physicists live together in an apartment while they work at a nearby university. Their perfect world of video games, trips to the comic book store and Chinese food nights is thrown into chaos when the gorgeous Penny (Kaley Cuoco) moves in across the hall.
Leonard, of course, is instantly smitten and begins to develop a friendship with the new neighbor that he hopes will eventually lead to more — much to the chagrin of his somewhat eccentric roommate Sheldon who, above all, values his routine and especially his particular seat on the sofa.
