As we did with ABC’s new shows earlier today and NBC’s show’s yesterday, we’ve got a preview of some of the new Fox shows for you as well. This time around the shows are more drama heavy but also feature a comedy and an animated show.

First up is the new drama Lonestar which features Jon Voight in a show described as “a modern-day Dallas” and “a sophisticated and provocative drama set against the sprawling backdrop of big Texas oil.” Mmm, could be interesting.

Next up is the new cop show Ride-Along from Shawn Ryan, creator of The Shield. This drama follows the exploits of a veteran cop (Jason Clarke of Brotherhood) doing whatever he can to keep the streets clean. It also stars Jennifer Beals.

Moving along to the next show we’ve got a preview for the new comedy Running Wild which features Wil Arnett as a rich guy who’s wife, played by Kerri Russell, tries to keep him in line and do some good along the way. It was created by Arrested Development’s Mitchell Hurwitz so it’s definitely got a comedy pedigree.

Finally, the last preview for today is the new animated show Bob’s Burgers from the guy who brought you Dr. Katz. It focuses on a struggling family-run burger joint that seems to violate a great deal of health codes. Of all of these shows I think I’m most interested in Ride-Along.

Shawn Ryan created one of the best cop shows of all time with The Shield and he knows this world and the people in it. I expect great things from Ride-Along. The others? I guess we’ll see.

Catch-22 (1970) is one of those films which falls into several genres. It’s a war film, it’s dramatic, and is considered by many to be a “black comedy.” Mike Nichols directed this screen adaption, which was written by long time collaborator Buck Henry and on the Joseph Heller novel about a group of U.S. Army pilots stationed on a tiny island west of Italy during the tail end of World War II.

Legendary comedic actor Alan Arkin stars as Captain John Yossarian, a veteran bombardier with the fictional 256th Bomber Squadron who are forced to fly countless missions by their commander, Colonel Cathcart (Martin Balsam). Yossarian has flown over twice the required missions allowed by bomber crews before they are eligible to rotate back home for non active duty.

Yossarian feels that the more times he climbs into the nose of his bomber, the more chances he has at dying. Trying to fake insanity in order to be grounded, invokes the policy known in the army as “Catch-22″ meaning that if a pilot tries to get out of flying missions, he isn’t really crazy and therefore can’t be grounded under the basis of instability.

Yossarian confides in Dr. “Doc” Daneeka (Jack Gilford) to try and have him committed for the duration of the war, yet Doc doesn’t want to rock the boat and feel the pressures of not only Col. Cathcart, but his even tougher adjutant, Lt. colonel Korn (Buck Henry).

Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. seemed to strike gold when they had actor Justin Theroux co-write Tropic Thunder. The film got rave reviews from the critics and even took in a large chunk of change at the box office. To repay him, Downey decided to step up to the plate for Theroux by having him pen the script for the soon-to-be released Iron Man 2 for Paramount.

Now it seems that Stiller is taking interest in the young actor/writer/director by having him write and direct the sequel to 2001 comedy Zoolander, also with Paramount. From Deadline Hollywood:

I’ve learned that Ben and Justin are working on the script together, and Theroux is going to Fashion Week in Paris to “immerse himself on what is current in fashion”. ”It’s got momentum,” a studio source just told me. Everyone’s hoping Owen Wilson co-stars again but no deal is set. The villain likely will be Jonah Hill who’s in negotiations.

No word yet on who or what else they have planned for the sequel, but with names like Will Farrell, Billy Zane, Jon Voight, Milla Jovovich, David Duchovny, and dozens of others in the first film, you can expect to see some of Stiller’s new on-screen companions such as Jack Black, Tom Cruise, and Matthew McConaughey pop up in between glances of Blue Steel.
