‘Hack/Slash’ Movie Has a New Director

by Chris Ullrich, Jul 15 2009 // 6:30 AM

cassie-hackAfter a couple years and some false starts, the big screen adaptation of Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli’s comic Hack/Slash seems to finally be on track. I’ve been following the progress of this project for some time now and interviewed Tim Seeley and Hack/Slash screenwriter Justin Marks last year when it seemed the movie was a go. Sadly, for whatever reason, it didn’t happen that time.

But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has a green light from Rogue Pictures and owner Relativity Media and a brand new director to go along with it: commercial and music video helmer Fredrik Bond. According to the article, the comic, which centers on Cassie Hack, a young woman who travels the country killing serial killers and other murderers, has been a top contender to receive a greenlight from Rogue for some time.

Fortunately it appears that time has come with the movie expected to begin filming early next year. No word yet on who will be playing the pivotal role of Cassie Hack. But don’t worry, when we find out, you’ll be the first to know. While we wait for the movie, be sure to pick up the latest issue of Hack/Slash from Devil’s Due Publishing at your local comic shop. You’ll be glad you did.

Nick Fury Vs. H.A.M.M.E.R. in ‘Secret Warriors’

by Joe Gillis, Jul 7 2009 // 1:15 PM

SecretWarriors_06_CoverAs we’ve said many time before, we love us some Marvel comics here at The Flickcast. Personally, I’ve been a huge fan of Nick Fury for a long time and am really enjoying the current book featuring the cigar chomping, eye patch wearing super agent known as Secret Warriors. Now, Marvel is poised to let Fury and his team loose again to battle the evil and sinister forces of H.A.M.M.E.R in the upcoming Secret Warriors #6.

Here’s all the info (including preview art, of course) from Marvel’s own electronic lips:

Nick Fury and his Secret Warriors have launched their offensive against Norman Osborn’s H.A.M.M.E.R., but the foot on Fury’s throat might be a sign that things won’t end well! Marvel’s most acclaimed new series of the year continues in Secret Warriors #6, as red-hot scribes Brian Michael Bendis (Dark Avengers) & Jonathan Hickman (upcoming Fantastic Four), team with Young Gun artist Stefano Caselli for the next shocking chapter in Nick Fury’s war against the Dark Reign!

What role does HYDRA play in this battle? What are Stonewall’s powers? And just what does Fury have up his sleeve? Strap in for answers—and a shocking conclusion that rocks Marvel’s world of subterfuge to its core! Plus, don’t miss an exciting variant cover by Tomm Coker, celebrating the sexy 70s!
