It’s Comic-Con! Hurray!
In honor of this geek-stravaganza, today’s Film Score Friday is taking a break from the standard review and instead going through the top ten comic book scores of all time. So without further adieu, I present to you the top ten comic book scores of all time:
10. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Scott Pilgrim is a melting pot of geekdom. Mixing together video games, movies, TV, comics, music and many more into a singular generational experience. The movie has so much going on in it that the references and structure starts to bleed in on itself, making a seamless cinematic experience. A huge part of that is the music, which flows between songs and score better than almost any film before. The score bit in particular is what makes this list, making use of some great digital sounds that fit the movie like a glove.

The world of hour-long legal dramas have had a strange relationship with ABC in the past. From their lengthy term with The Practice, to the even longer relationship with the spin-off, Boston Legal, the network seems to give more of a chance to programming that revolves around the courtroom.
With that in mind comes the newest mid-season show, The Deep End. The show brings in an interesting twist on the established genre, focusing more on the lives of the up-and-coming lawyers, with the named partners taking more of a supporting role.
We recently got a chance to sit down with famed actors Billy Zane (Titanic, The Phantom) and Tina Majorino (Waterworld, Corinna Corinna) about their roles, what attracted them to the show in the first place, and where they see their characters going.
Check out the interview after the jump, and be sure to catch The Deep End on ABC every Thursday at 8/7C.

Before all you Billy Zane fans out there start drooling, know that this isn’t your mom and pop’s Phantom. This Phantom has cool guns, and sunglasses, and a hoodie! The premise follows Chris Moore (Ryan Carnes), who learns that he’s a part of a long line of jungle crime fighters who have sworn to protect the world from evil.
The show has a bit of a Smallville feel to it, with a few light nods to the original costume, but establishing itself as a newer, “hipper” entity. There are a few modern elements thrown in, such as secret agencies and terrorist factions. Also, you can expect to see lots of purple in the show, which is great if you are hoping the color will make a comeback in the fashion world.
Star Carnes is no stranger to the world of Sci-Fi TV, as he starred in two episodes of the BBC’s Doctor Who. Alongside Carnes is Alias’ Isabella Rossellini (who is totally not crazy) and Sons of Anarchy’s Cameron Goodman.
Check out the first trailer for the new SyFy series after the jump, and stay tuned as we get closer to 2010 for more on the air date.

Besides some of the other comic book companies such as Marvel, DC and Darkhorse we feature regularly at The Flickcast, there’s another one that keep putting out very interesting and entertaining books. That company is Moonstone and they’ve got a treat for all you fans of The Phantom: A double sized comic mini-series featuring the character and some of your favorite villains.
For the full 411, check out the details from the official Moonstone press release. Also, be sure and check out the cool comic art after the jump.
Coming this December from Moonstone, a mini-series that pits the Phantom against The Hammer, a group of ex-KGB agents intent on restoring the USSR to its place as a world super-power. Each of the six issues will feature a chapter from the Phantom’s tale, as well as stand-alone stories spotlighting characters you’ve come to know and love from Moonstone Books.
In the main feature, The Phantom uncovers The Hammer’s plot to destroy the United States in retaliation for the downfall of their former empire. The Ghost Who Walks, trailing what he believes to be an ordinary arms dealer, finds himself embroiled in a nuclear weapon purchase. If The Hammer succeeds in detonating the device, the entire US eastern seaboard will pay the ultimate price. It’s up to The Phantom to see that they don’t.
