Now that Marvel has revamped their current state of continuity with the Heroic Age of comics, lots of books are getting a fresh start. One of the books we’re pretty excited for is the upcoming first issue of X-Men.
From Victor Gischler and Paco Medina, this revamp marks the first time there has been an X-Men #1 in nearly 20 years. According to a Marvel press release, the team will start things off with a bang by fighting a threat that will “alter the ENTIRE Marvel Universe!” We’re pretty stoked for it, to say the least.
Gischler is has been one of the lead writers for Deadpool over the past few years, including Merc With The Mouth and Deadpool Corps. He’s also currently working on The Death of Dracula for Marvel. You may also remember Paco Medina’s art from many of the Deadpool books, as well as New X-Men and a few others.
In celebration of this major issue, Marvel is releasing several variant covers, including a blank cover (at right), a varient by Medina, John Romita Jr., and even one by Thor artist Marko Djurdjevic.
Check out a few sneak preview images from the book after the jump, and be sure to pick up X-Men #1 on sale July 8th.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! The fall of the Hulks begins, Mogo dishes out his brand of justice and both Geo-Force and the Sentry lose their marbles. As always, WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
PULL OF THE WEEK:
Dark Avengers #13
Marvel Comics – $3.99 US
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mike Deodato
Score: 8.5/10
The Marvel Universe has seen better days. While the disassembling of Earth’s mightiest heroes led to the breakout of a civil war, a secret invasion became the catalyst to Norman Osborn’s dark reign, and with the siege of Asgard on the horizon, surely things couldn’t get worse (see what I did there?), could it? The Sentry’s true origin is revealed, answering once and for all that, yes, things can get worse…much worse.
Just when I thought all the pieces were on the table, Brian Michael Bendis takes the much-maligned Sentry and turns him loose. With this latest revelation of how the Sentry came to be – not to mention how he’s more unstable than anyone thought – Bendis has taken a tragic figure and made him the definitive x-factor for the Siege event. Whether or not the character winds up saving the day or becoming the most dangerous player is still up in the air, and that’s just a tad frightening.
This issue is all about the eyes. Artist Mike Deodato nailed every beat of this issue by letting the eyes of the characters tell the story, which really focused on the horror of what resides within the Sentry’s mind. From the Sentry, the Sentry’s wife, Lindy and even Osborn himself, the eyes served notice that something wicked this way comes. For even more justification, take a gander at that last page.

That Deadpool character is pretty popular these days. He’s got a bunch of comic titles, was one of our own David Press and John Carle’s picks and even has a movie coming out. One of his recent comics, Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #1 has even sold out, at least through Diamond.
Fortunately, Marvel is keeping fans happy and is bringing the book back with a second printing. Of course, what’s a second printing without a new, variant cover, right? So, they’ve got that one for you also — and we’ve got the pics to prove it.
Check out all the info from the official Marvel press release:
Marvel is please to announce Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #1 has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at retail level) and will return with Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #1 Second Printing Variant! Fan favorite writer Victor Gischler and rising star artist Bong Dazo present the beginning of an all-new Deadpool epic that no fan can afford to miss!
