It was a sad day when visual effects master Ray Harryhausen passed away. His work inspired so many generations of filmmakers and delighted millions of fans around the world. His vision and passion will be missed.
Fortunately, his vision will live on through his tremendous body of work. Speaking of that work and the amazing creatures Harryhausen created and brought to cinematic life, one enterprising YouTube user named Mat Bergman has put together a video highlighting each and every one of them.
That’s right, the video shows every one of Harryhausen’s amazing creations. It should also be noted that the Master didn’t work with a large team of people to create his vision. No, he manipulated each and every one of these creates himself, by hand, one small movement and one frame at a time.
Yeah, he was pretty bad ass. Check out the video after the break.

One of the great special effects pioneers of cinema, Ray Harryhausen, has died. He was 92.
Fortunately, we can remember him through his amazing body of work including The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, One Million Years B.C., The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Clash of the Titans and my personal favorite, and one of the greatest films of all time, Jason and the Argonauts.
Rest in peace Mr. Harryhausen. You’ve done those of us coming after you, and movie fans, a great service, and we thank you.

Fans everywhere who were grinding their teeth during the reboot of the classic Clash of the Titans back in 2010 will finally have another reason to have the studio system as the trailer for Wrath of the Titans has hit the web.
Sure, it had a bad wrap the moment we found out a reboot to such a classic was even getting made, but the trailer doesn’t do much to show us otherwise. Here’s the unnecessarily massive synopsis, so you don’t get lost.
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) –the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)–is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans.
Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Those who saw French director Louis Leterrier’s remake of the classic film Clash of the Titans were split straight down the middle on those who absolutely loved the film, and those who thought it was total schlock.
Not unlike the response to the original film, this has left a bad taste in the mouths of fans, to the point where talk of a sequel would only anger them. That’s where this bit of news should change some folks’ minds. It seems that the Brothers Warner will be planning two sequels to the film. The good news? Good writers are on the way. From THR.
Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson, who co-wrote Wrath’s screenplay with Steven Knight and also share story credit with Greg Berlanti, have been enlisted to develop and write a treatment for the threequel, which would continue the adventures of Perseus, played by Sam Worthington.

If you haven’t been watching HBO’s Game of Thrones, an adaptation of the novels by George R.R. Martin, you’re really missing out. It’s a great show full of amazing characters, action, drama, sex, violence and more all in a world that’s fully realized and seems all to real. Even with the show on hiatus until next season that hasn’t stopped the producers from adding new cast members to the show.
The latest major casting announcement is that Irish actor Liam Cunningham has been been set for the part of Davos Seaworth for the show’s second season. In case you’re not familiar with the actors’s work, check out the recent series Camelot on Starz and the Clash of the Titans remake. He was one of the many actors that was much better than Sam Worthington.
In the books, Davos is a former smuggler. He earned the nickname “The Onion Knight” after successfully getting food into Stannis Baratheon’s besieged castle during the war that put Robert Baratheon on the Iron Throne. In season two, Stannis enlists Davos to help him seize the Iron Throne from the punk King Joffrey.

It’s that time of year again. The time when actors and actresses are honored for all the hard work they piled together in the 12 months leading up to one moment of pay off and a tiny little statue. We’re speaking, of course, about the Razzie Awards. These are the awards given out on the eve of Oscar night to those actors, actresses, and fimlmmakers who have produced some of the worst film projects to hit theaters in the past year.
Many remember last year’s big Worst Actress winner being Sandra Bullock, who went on the very next night to win an Oscar for a role in a completely different film. This year’s potentials could have the same luck, but we doubt it. Here’s the shortlist of actors from LA Times.
Among movies and actors shortlisted for the Razzies are Jessica Alba, who is eligible for worst supporting actress for four films (“The Killer Inside Me,” “Little Fockers,” “Machete” and “Valentine’s Day”), and Emily Blunt, eligible in the same category for her work in “The Wolfman” and “Gulliver’s Travels.”

There have been some pretty big hits in the box office this year, and some expected whales, but overall this has been a great year for the worldwide box office, and here’s the proof you need. From THR.
10. Clash of the Titans, $493.2 million worldwide
9. How to Train Your Dragon, $494.9 worldwide
8. Despicable Me, $539.9 million
7. Iron Man 2, $582.2 million
6. Twilight Saga: Eclipse, $693.5 million
5. Shrek Forever After: $739.8 million
4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. $824.1
3. Inception, $825.4
2. Alice in Wonderland, $1 billion
1. Toy Story 3, $1.1 billion
There are a few genuine good films on the list, like Iron Man 2 and Inception. Some big surprises, considering how bad the reviews were for films like Shrek Forever After, Clash of the Titans, and Alice in Wonderland. And even a few expectations like Twilight, Harry Potter, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Even though his film Battle: Los Angeles hasn’t even been released yet, director Jonathan Liebesman has apparently already lined up his next job. That job? Director of the sequel to Clash of the Titans which, at this moment, is cleverly entitled Clash of the Titans 2.
According to Deadline, the director was in talks for the film over the weekend and through yesterday but those negotiations stalled because of, you guessed it, money. But now it seems all is well and they’ve been able to reach an agreement to make a sequel to a film that most people, including a majority of critics, had nothing but bad things to say about.
Unfortunately, the sequel was inevitable considering both of the film’s leads (Sam Worthington and Gemma Aterton) survived and the movie, in spite of its negative reviews and terrible conversion to 3D, made a crap load of money worldwide. I’m hopeful the studio will do better this time and am encouraged by at least one other fact that’s come out during this dealmaking process: They will shoot the film in 3D instead of converting it later.
That alone should improve things considerably. Now if we could just do something about the lame story, wooden acting and uninspired direction . . . then we’d really be onto something. Too snarky? I can never tell.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed is a twisty, provocative British thriller featuring a breakout performance from Gemma Arterton. You may have caught her in the recent popcorn flicks Prince of Persia or Clash of the Titans, two movies in which she is largely relegated to arm candy for the leading men.
It is refreshing to see the sultry actress show us the range of her acting prowess. As Alice Creed, she gives a gritty, brave performance that you won’t soon forget.
The film begins with two men meticulously preparing a room to serve as a temporary housing for a kidnapping victim. It seems that every tiny detail has been addressed. The room is soundproofed and padded, the bed is bolted to the floor, and the room has been stripped bare of anything that could be used as weaponry.
The two men don masks and drive an outfitted van to their victim, a one Alice Creed. Soon, she is shackled to the bed and stripped naked. It’s a difficult scene to watch, and horribly degrading.
It would be very easy to write off the movie at this early juncture as being yet another torture-porn genre film, but don’t be so quick to judge. That graphic and frightening scene sets up some interesting plot points for later, and makes better sense after you have the context of the whole movie behind it.
Fortunately, it is quickly apparent that the men have no interest in Alice sexually. They cloth her in a jogging suit they provide, and don’t seem to have much interest in actually harming her. Instead, they want to extort some money from her wealthy father, by making him pay a kidnap ransom.

At the time of this writing, the Tina Fey/Steve Carell comedy Date Night is reported to have narrowly won the box office. However, The Clash of the Titans was so close behind that it is possible adjusted totals may flip the positions of the two movies. Box Office Mojo is reporting that Date Night made around $27.1 Million, while Clash made $26.7 Million, a tight margin of victory, to be sure.
This was the biggest opening weekend of Tina Fey’s career thus far, although Carell has had larger openings before. The $27 Million take is quite good for a comedy.
Clash of the Titans dropped about 56% from opening weekend, which is higher than usual. Most films see about a 30% drop. The larger drop signals that interest for the movie may be waning quickly.
Good thing the flick had a big opening weekend. Clash has now made a total of $110 Million after two weekends, and looks like it will recoup its $125 Million budget. Incidentally, it looks like about 40% of that total was from 3D screens, meaning more than half came from 2D screenings.
