It’s an all-new episode of The Flickcast for your listening pleasure. Seven new ones in a row. It really, really must be some kind of record.
On this week’s episode Chris and Joe discuss a bunch of new and recurring topics. What are these new and recurring topics you may ask? Well, we could tell you, but where’s the fun in that? You can probably guess what one of them is, at least, if you look really closely at the above photo.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what’s happening in advance. It’s ok. Rest assured, this episode is a good one.
Picks this week include Chris’ pick of director David Ayer’s End of Watch and Joe’s pick of renowned comic book writer Dan Slott. We’ve even got a special guest pick for you too.
As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship, or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at Facebook, Google+ or via email.

Waaaay back in 2000, Marvel launched a new line of comics focusing on some of their more popular characters set within an alternate universe where anything could happen. Their flagship title, naturally, was Ultimate Spider-Man; and from there the universe continued to expand (and in some cases significantly contract) as scenarios played out without any concern for longstanding repercussions.
It was exciting; it was new and readers really didn’t have a clue what was coming next. 11 years later Peter Parker met his heroic demise, kicking off a new era with a new Spider-Man; this time with high school student Miles Morales at the helm. And this is where we begin…
Admittedly, I like my Spider-Mans to be Peter Parkery; and while I tried to stay on board with Dan Slott’s current Superior Spider-Man arc (spoiler: Spider-Man is NOT Peter Parker there), I struggled to invest in the character I’ve read for thirty-plus years. I’m old school; there, I said it. Luckily, this being an alternate universe, I was able to push my stubbornness aside and plow through.

On Marvel.com, Activision has revealed all of the unlockable skins for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. By playing through the game, players will have the opportunity to unlock new looks for their favorite wall crawler across the four dimensions of gameplay. Make sure to check out the gallery at the bottom of this post for screen shots of all the new costumes.
At Comic Con, we had the opportunity to sit down with Studio Head over at Beenox, the developers behind Spider–Man: Shattered Dimensions, Dee Brown. In our short time with Dee, he discussed with us the choices behind dimensions of the game.
He also mentions creating new villains for the game as well as the hype that has been coming out leading to the game’s release.
The Flickcast: First question I have, what was the thought process behind the four dimensions Beenox picked?
Dee Brown: Well, what we do when we start a project, we did what we always do when we start a project, a deep dive into the brand and we dug up a lot of the comic stuff of Spider-Man, and we did this big presentation to the team and the entire company.
Everybody loves Spider-Man of course, but nobody knows all the different universes and everything, so we did this presentation and showed shots of 2099 and Noir and all the amazing universes. People, like me for example, I didn’t know about Noir and when I saw it I thought “That’s amazing, that’s so great.”

The developers of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions have just released two new 360° screen shots for the upcoming game that will be available for Wii, PS3, Nintendo DS, and XBOX 360.
The new game will allow you to explore four parallel universes, each featuring its own Spider-Man with a unique set of skills. Marvel comic book writer Dan Slott wrote the adventure game.
The first screenshot is entitled “2099” and the second one is “Noir”, which are two of the universes. For more info, visit the official Spider-Man Dimensions website.
Check out the screenshots after the jump.
