Plagues. Powers. Stealth. And lots of stabbing people in the neck. Those are the first things that jump out when looking at the latest trailer for Dishonored. Coming from Arkane Studios, who developed Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and worked on the art and visual style of Bioshock 2, Dishonored puts players in the role of Corvo Atano, a bodyguard the an assassinated empress who has been framed for her murder. Obviously a title that doesn’t try to be ambiguous, Corvo must regain his honor by finding the man responsible by cutting a bloody path through anyone in his way.
One thing which quickly stands out is the power set being similar to both Bioshock and Singularity in the trailer below. The telekinesis looks very similar to the plasmid from Bioshock while stopping a pocket of time was right up Singularity’s alley. Even the art style has a Bioshock feel to it was the way characters appear within the world to the propaganda posters cleverly placed to even the environment that is falling apart on itself. There are also some notable Half-Life 2 inspirations seen as well. The gas masks worn by enemies and especially the walkers closely resemble the forces that Gordan Freeman was forced to tackle in Half-Life 2 and its episodes.
The trailer also has a fantastic score to it. A young girl’s eerie voice further pushes the desolation of the world we have given glimpses of. It also makes the violent acts shown feel that much worse as they are contrasted with the beautiful tones below them.

If you were on The Flickcast last week, you no doubt got hit with our bombardment of E3 coverage. With a convention so big, it was obviously impossible to cover everything but there are a few major things that everyone should know about this E3.
Of any of the big E, Sony had the most impressive E3 presentation because of two games. Beyond was the surprise game announcement of the show that was visually striking and has people talking, much like the trailer for The Last of Us did last year. Speaking of The Last of Us, we got to see actual gameplay this year which showed both the awesome tension and brutality of the title without even having to focus on the virus or mutations it causes and instead only showing the ongoing human versus human conflict happening in it.
Sony also brought out the Wonderbook which creates a virtual storybook, with their big announcement tied into the work of J.K. Rowling. While on paper, this sounds like an interesting concept and probably would have been a huge hit at an event like Toy Fair, it didn’t resonate with the E3 or gamer audience. Instead, it felt like it took up time on stage when gamers were hoping to hear announcements or see gameplay of other big games.

One of the most hardcore games in the MMO world is branching out toward consoles, but in a way you might not expect. When originally announced, Dust 514 was lauded as a cross-platform game where the events of the battles taking place on the PlayStation 3 would affect the greater world of Eve Online. At E3, developer CCP announced a batch of new details for Dust 514 as well as a new trailer that can be seen after the jump.
Dust 514 will be a free-to-play format. It will have a custom PlayStation Home Space and also a PlayStation Vita companion app titled Dust 514: Neocom.
The premier beta event for DUST 514 is scheduled to begin on Friday June 29th, and will run throughout the weekend. Participants that register at www.DUST514.com/betawill be chosen at random to participate, and new players interested in joining the action can still sign up. This event will be the first of several throughout the summer, and CCP will be revealing more information in the coming weeks.
DUST 514 will be fully integrated into PlayStation Home, starting at E3. Debuting as part of Sony’s Virtual E3 Experience, the DUST 514 Home Space is a way for users to get up close and personal with the New Eden universe. In addition, the first 10,000 visitors to the DUST 514 Home Space will be able to get “All Access” beta keys, guaranteeing them access to all the DUST 514 beta events over the summer. The DUST 514 Space will remain live and accessible to players throughout the summer, and Home users can expect additional beta keys to be distributed via the Home Space in the future.

With the next generation of gaming’s announcement looming over E3 2013 after both Microsoft and Sony were silent during this year’s expo, the focus has changed for game’s of this year’s E3 being innovators in their own right. While game’s like Scribblenauts Unlimited promise to give players more creative options in the way they solve puzzles, other titles like Defiance promise to span across different forms of media in a truly unique scenario.
Way back in the Star Wars Galaxies MMO, players would experience player events which promised an impact on the future story of the game based upon how the playerbase performed. If more Rebels completed a mission, they would earn more benefits for their factions in the coming months. Defiance looks to take the roots of this premise and expand it in a way never before seen.
Defiance is going to be an MMOTPS (Massive Multiplayer Online Third Person Shooter). This isn’t the first time an MMO shooter has been attempted as Planetside came out years ago and had a relative degree of success, enough that Planetside 2 is on its way. Unlike Planetside, Defiance will take place on earth and include PvE (player vs. environment) gameplay and not just straight PvP. But that’s not the defining feature that looks to set Defiance apart. In addition to being a game produced by Trion Worlds and coming to XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC, it will concurrently launch with a series for SyFy TV.

When Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure came out, Activision was likely hoping to cash in on the name recognition of Spyro to get their product off the ground. Now, not even a full year since the game came out, this E3 trailer shows that they know that Spyro is no driving force behind their game and that the Skylanders franchise has taken on a life of its own with the last game’s title character not even appearing in this new story trailer for Skylanders Giants.
In this trailer, both new and old characters are given distinct voices and personalities as they discuss the myths about the Giants that will become the focus of Skylanders Giants this fall. What is most interesting is that the trailer specifically says, “Over 40 new characters”. This is a much higher number than originally announced which had stated only eight new Skylanders and eight Giants would be coming to the new title. This may have been prompted by Activision’s announcement that Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and the figures were such a huge seller since its release.
Take a peek after the jump at the latest story trailer for Skylanders Giants and let us know your thoughts.

If you follow The Flickcast, you know we have always been fans of TwistedPixel and their games since the first time we met the guys at Comic-Con in 2009. Since, they have given us ‘Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, Ms. ‘Splosion Man (which I actually jokingly predicted from a press release) and their first full retail game, the Gunstringer for Kinect.
So when we heard they were acquired by Microsoft, we were hoping they’d be allowed to continue doing what they do best, unlike Rare which became the prime driving force behind avatars. Luckily, from the look of the new LocoCycle trailer which was revealed during Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference (and can be seen below), it looks like Microsoft is keeping the avatars far away from TwistedPixel.
In the trailer, there is a sleek, almost Tron-like cycle being slowly revealed while a voiceover talks about a trailed and seemingly unstoppable female assassin. The big reveal, it looks like the bike is the assassin.
How this will play out in the game, we have no idea yet but with TwistedPixel behind the helm, we can’t wait to find out. Take a peek below at the trailer and give your thoughts.

“All of your cities lie in dust.” There’s no line of music more fitting for the tone of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. With Transformers: War for Cybertron, the Autobots were left with a world on the brink of collapse at the hands of Megatron. What looks to be their only option left is to fight to survive. Even with the brief glimpses of hope seen at the end of War for Cybertron, things look bleak. This new E3 trailer captures that tone and shows what little hope remains for the Autobots.
The trailer features all the main Transformers that will be appearing in Transformers: Fall of Cyberton including Optimus Prime, an injured Bumblebee, the Dinobots, Megtron, Soundwave and Starscream. It also reveals possibly the most epic of the Transformers, the city-sized Metroplex. The reveal may give some insight into a Decepticon portion of the campaign. While the Autobots will get a heroic moment when they recruit the Dinobots, the Decepticons may take down the last hope of the Autobots by disabling Metroplex.
Take a look at the trailer after the jump.

Horses. Zombies. Drones. Walking tanks. What’s left really to say about Call of Duty: Black Ops II at this point? Microsoft knows how valuable a franchise it is. That’s why they dedicated the final section of their E3 Press Conference to an extended gameplay demo. But is it too much of a good thing? Obviously Activision and the gaming masses don’t think so.
As you will see in the Behind the Scenes preview below which was created for E3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II doesn’t want to just look and feel like any other sequel in the Call of Duty franchise. Players will be given new weapons and techniques in order to be given new experiences, instead of just shooting their way through levels in the same way they have for the better part of the past decade.
Treyarch knows the pressure they are under to deliver something new and is intent on doing so both in terms of gameplay and graphics. They give special emphasis on lighting as the final layer of graphical polish to make the game look as good as possible.
In the trailer, there is no mention of new details in the game’s multiplayer and only a very brief detail about the size of the Zombie mode which is intended to give players more options than ever before in it.
Take a peek at the full behind the scenes look at Call of Duty: Black Ops II which is coming out for every major platform and has the potential to again be the highest selling game of the year.

With the Amazing Spider-Man hitting theaters very soon, things are ramping up fast for the movie tie-in game as well. The Amazing Spider-Man game though doesn’t look to tie in closely to the story of the movie as we are yet to see any images of the Lizard, Captain Stacey or Gwen Stacey. Instead, the game exists in the same world as the film, most likely after it’s events and not concurrently like other Spider-Man film games have done in the past.
This will most likely lead to a more impressive narrative rather than the shoehorned one often given when games try to fit too tightly to the movie’s major plot points. This trailer for the Amazing Spider-Man gives us three new character reveals. The first seen is Vermin. Unlike his comic counterpart, this version of Vermin appears much more rat-like including a tail. Our main hint that this is Vermin in the game is the hordes of rats seen running around on-screen during his encounter with Spider-Man.

This is a big week for the video game industry. Everyone has their eyes on Los Angeles as the next few years in Video Gamedom are laid out in very elaborate fashion. So with all of the buzz surrounding the industry, Disney decided now would be the perfect time to unveil Wreck-It Ralph officially.
For those of you woefully unaware of what Wreak-It Ralph is all about, here is a synopsis to get you up to speed:
Wreck-It Ralph longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix. Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun, Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan — win a medal — but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade.
The movie has the chance to be this generation’s Who Framed Rodger Rabbit, only instead of rival cartoons co-existing in their own world it is established video game characters. Just the support group in this trailer alone evokes the same sort of feeling of watching Daffy and Donald Duck play dueling pianos.
Wreck-It Ralph hits cinemas this winter and check out the trailer and the full official image after the jump.

For most gamers, their most recent memory of Star Wars came in the form of Star Wars Kinect and seeing Han Solo attempting to shake his Corellian booty. After some intense therapy they may be ready to give the franchise another shot, especially after such classics as Tie Fighter, Rogue Squadron or The Force Unleashed coming from the Star Wars mythos. E3 brought the latest from LucasArts with Star Wars: 1313 (with absolutely no mention of Kinect, Move or waggle controls within a mile of it).
Star Wars: 1313 is named for the subterranean metropolitan level of Coruscant where the player will be exploring. The player will take on the role of a bounty hunter in this cover-based third person shooter game. While there are still many details left to be revealed, there has been a batch of footage released from E3 featuring a cut-scene , combat gameplay and an action set piece designed to show various aspects of the game.
Check out the three trailers after the break.

Of the Big 3, Nintendo had the most pressure coming in to 2012’s E3. After a mixed response from gamers after the reveal of the Wii U last year, Nintendo needed to do something to shock, wow and inspire people to make the leap from Wii to Wii U. Instead, Nintendo delivered a lot of what was expected. That doesn’t mean that what Nintendo showed off was bad by any means, but there just wasn’t that magic wow moment that gamers were hoping for.
Things started out with a Shigiru Myamoto skit to help introduce the new Pikmin 3 coming to the Wii U. Myamoto, with the help of a translator explained the benefits of playing Pikmin 3 with the Wii U controller and introduced the new Rock Pikmin as well. After a lengthy Pikmin demonstration, Reggie Fils-Aime took the stage and revealed that Netflix, Hulu Plus and YouTube would all find their way to the Wii U.
He also revealed the important fact that two gamepads can be used at the same time on the Wii U, unlike last year’s statement that only one could be used at a time while all other players were going to be stuck using Wiimotes. This is probably a very smart change for Nintendo to help establish the system on its own instead of merely looking like an add-on to the Wii.
