It’s Friday again and basically the weekend! But before you head off to find the next Mr. or Ms. Right (unless you’ve already found them), take a few moments and listen to this brand new episode of The Flickcast! Or maybe you’ll end up listening with a new (or current) person in your life? Try it. Could be fun.
Listening alone, with a friend (or two), here’s what you can expect from this week’s episode: Supergirl! Captain America: Civil War! Star Wars! The Walking Dead! Legends of Tomorrow! More! More! More!
Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the classic horror film Poltergeist and Joe’s pick of Greg Rucka’s Black Magic, with art by Nicola Scott.

Another day, another trailer (or two) for the reboot of a movie you probably loved from the past. Case in point this time is Sam Raimi’s reboot of the Tobe Hooper classic Poltergeist.
To be fair, the reboot isn’t directed by Sam Raimi. The director is actually a guy named Gil Kenan, who’s known for films like Monster House and City of Ember. But since everyone knows Raimi’s name, especially in the horror world, it’s being touted as his film.
Don’t feel too bad for Kenan, though, we’re sure his check cleared and he does get directing credit on the actual film. Plus, we’re reasonably sure he did the job. He’s gonna be okay.
Anyway, the movie looks pretty scary, but also kinda like quite a few other horror movies of late. Still, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Check a couple trailer after the break. Look for Poltergeist, starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt and Jared Harris, to hit screens on July 24.

With Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th getting remade and rebooted these days, it’s only inevitable to hear about a remake of arguably one of the scariest horror films of the 1980s in Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist.
About two years ago, it was announced that MGM Studios was working on the remake, and then a year later they announced that House of Sand and Fog director Vadim Perelman would take the helm. Even later, MGM picked up Stiles White and Juliet Snowden, the team behind 2005’s Boogeyman and this year’s Knowing, would be penning the script.
It has now been announced that the film will have a release date of November 24 of next year. Not a terrible draw, being Thanksgiving weekend, and also one week after the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. You can expect to see more November releases in the coming years after the success of the Twilight franchise and it’s positioning.
No word yet on casting, but it has to be asked whether or not the studio is worried about the legendary Poltergeist Curse, which allegedly took the lives of several cast and crew members over the years. With a release date only 14 months away, we are sure to hear more about casting and when shooting begins in the coming weeks.
