We all know and love the work of Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matt Senreich, even when they detoured from their regular antics of playing with MEGO dolls to produce a meh claymation VOLTRON spoof in Titan Maximum. But now they’re finally doing something that both kids and adults can get behind, as they make fun of the easy target of George Lucas and his galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars: Detours seems like a mesh of the animation style of Clone Wars meets the comedic writing and even voice talent of Robot Chicken with appearances by Seth MacFarlane, Breckin Mayer, Seth Green of course, and a few more along the way.
Take a look at the sizzle reel below, originally made for the Star Wars Celebration, and expect to see more from the guys as the show ramps up production for a “mid-2013” release. May the Schwartz be with you.

It’s safe to say there’s at least one show geeks and nerds in many lands can agree is pretty awesome. That show is, of course, Game of Thrones.
The shows visuals, casting and story have captivated audiences and made the show a success for HBO. Another major element of Game of Thrones that contributes to its success is the series’ musical score.
One fan, YouTube’s own MrSolidSnake745, has taken his love of the Game of Thrones score to even great heights and made his own hommage to the series’ main title theme.
The difference here is that he did it all with eight floppy disk drives. Putting aside the fact that even finding eight floppy drives is a pretty amazing feat these days, this video is still pretty impressive.
Check it out after the break.

Earlier this week we had some previews for upcoming Fall shows from our friends at NBC. Now, thanks to the miracle of modern technology, we can being you even more previews.
This time around its shows from CBS, including a modern day western (well the 60s at least) and a detective show featuring the great Sherlock Holmes. Of the shows previewed, we kinda like the Western called Vegas the best. It looks fun and, let’s face it, we love Vegas.
Plus, it features Dennis Quaid, Carrie-Anne Moss and Michael Chiklis, so that’s cool too. Sadly, it also stars Jason O’Mara, who is pretty much the kiss of death for new shows, so we don’t hold out much hope Vegas will survive.
But who knows, maybe the show will get lucky. We’ll have more previews as they come out. In the meantime, click through to check out the videos we’ve got so far.

We know NBC has made some not-so-friendly decisions in the past with our favorite shows, such as their decision to jerk around the millions (thousands?) of Community fans out there until we got what we wanted. Now they’re trying to get us interested in a brand new slate of comedies, dramas, and alternative series this Fall.
Starting off with the brand new batch of comedies, here’s what the official press release had to show us.
The season’s new fall comedies are “Go On,” “The New Normal,” “Animal Practice” and “Guys with Kids.” Other mid-season comedies include “Save Me,” “1600 Penn” and “Next Caller.”
The new fall dramas are “Revolution” and “Chicago Fire,” while “Do No Harm,” “Infamous” and “Hannibal” also will join the lineup in mid-season.
In addition, new alternative series include “Stars Earn Stripes,” “Howie Mandel’s White Elephant,” “Ready for Love,” and “Surprise with Jenny McCarthy.”
“Go On” — Misery loves company. Unless you’re sportscaster Ryan King (Matthew Perry, “Friends,” “Mr. Sunshine”) who thinks misery should just be left alone. After taking some time off, Ryan – who recently lost his wife in a car accident – is now ready to get back to work. And while he seems like his same old charming, cocky self, his boss won’t set him back on the air until he seeks counseling. So, Ryan reluctantly joins a support group with one goal in mind: get in, get out and get back on the radio as quickly as possible.

Skimming close to a billion dollars worldwide after a mere 14 days, Marvel, Disney and Paramount are proving that you can indeed make a movie mashup with other characters and pull it off. With that in mind, and that massive payroll coming into the Marvel Studios bank account, you had better believe there are already plans for a sequel to The Avengers.
Deadline has the official quote:
Disney CEO Bob Iger just announced that the company is developing a sequel. The film’s success “is a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much.” Demand for Avengers merchandise has been strong, he added.
While there is no official word, you can expect that Disney is courting Joss Whedon to return to the pen and/or direct for the second film, but we all know it’s going to be a bit far out. The next batch of sequels you can expect to take off will be Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger.

While Marvel may be raking it in and giving every other alien invasion movie a run for their money, Fox is definitely turning the genre on his head by way of Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, & Vince Vaughn in the upcoming comedy The Watch.
Originally titled Neighborhood Watch, now shortened to The Watch, the film accentuates the one thing that most other alien invasion films are missing: dick jokes. Here’s the premise, for those who need that sort of thing.
A group of friends (Stiller, Vaughn, Hill, and Ayoade) form a neighborhood watch group for their suburb to allow them time to bond and escape from their families. However, when the group discovers a plot that threatens the entire world, they are forced to confront it head on.
Take a look at the trailer after the jump, and catch The Watch in theaters on July 27th.

Though we know you aren’t dragging your heels to see Marvel’s The Avengers this weekend, one thing you don’t have to wait till then to enjoy is the brand new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “final” film in his Batman trilogy, Dark Knight Rises.
The trailer is set to hit at the beginning of Marvel’s superhero mashup flick this weekend, but the marketing gurus at WB thought it wouldn’t hurt much if the trailer was released a few days early.
Up until now, we haven’t gotten much of the film’s plot, outside of the fact that we know Bane, Catwoman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were all in the film. Now, we’re getting a bit more of the substance, as to what happens to Bale’s Bruce Wayne, what Catwoman’s role is like, and why Gordon-Levitt is always looking so surprised.
Check out the trailer right after the jump, and be sure to catch Dark Knight Rises in theaters just after Comic-Con, on July 20th.

While there are some haters out there who think a superhero mega movie isn’t worth the time spent on popcorn, the majority of the country, and now, the world, seem to disagree. Disney and Marvel’s The Avengers opened up in specific worldwide screens this weekend, a week ahead of the domestic release on May 4th, and have already superseded expectations in their market, breaking records in Australia by having the second biggest opening weekend of all time behind the final Harry Potter film.
THR breaks down the rest.
The Marvel Studios and Disney tentpole grossed $6 million, compared to $7 million for Deathly Hallows Part 2. And Avengers opened 214 percent ahead of Iron Man 2 ($1.8 million).
Avengers, which is beginning its foreign rollout a week ahead of its domestic launch on May 4, also did record business in Taiwan, scoring the best Wednesday opening gross of all time in earning $1.2 million.
The tentpole is setting down in a total of 42 foreign markets this weekend. Avengers is expected to be a box office monster, both domestically and overseas. In North America, it could debut north of $150 million, based on the sizable strength of pre-release tracking.
Not too shabby for a film about a group of dysfunctional teammates who take down an alien race, right? Catch Avengers in theaters next Friday.
