The Flickcast – Episode 209: Big In Japan

by The Flickcast, May 3 2013 // 2:15 PM

godzilla! This week on The Flickcast, Chris and Matt try to keep it a bit more civil and, well, almost succeed. They also manages to discuss several new topics (and a few old ones) including Mark Millar’s love of digital comics, new Pacific Rim trailer, the new Wolverine trailer and what Summer movies they are most looking forward to seeing.

They also talked about the upcoming games Grand Theft Auto V, the recently announced Call of Duty: Ghosts and how Matt loves all-things side-scrolling and hates the smell of death. And no, sadly, they don’t really go to Japan. We just thought that title was funny.

And, as usual, the boys made some picks this week with Matt’s being the side-scroller game Battleblock Theater and Chris’ being his new favorite desktop computer: the iMac from Apple.

The Flickcast – Episode 203: Summer Glau Ruins Everything

by The Flickcast, Mar 15 2013 // 3:00 PM

Summer-Glau-10

This week on an all-new episode of The Flickcast, Matt is back from vacation and has no problem sharing highlights from his trip. But wait, there’s more.

Actually, it’s hard to describe just what happens during this week’s show, but suffice it to say, it’s a wild one. And yes, one of the boys (if not both) manage to offend someone this week. Shocking, right?

They also make some picks this week including Matt’s pick of an obscure indie movie called Would You Rather? and Chris’ pick of the awesome show Veronica Mars, which he says is on Netflix but it really isn’t. He lies.

The Flickcast – Episode 201: Oscar Predictions!

by The Flickcast, Feb 22 2013 // 8:00 AM

oscars-2013-1

Yes, that’s right. After a bit of time apart to “find themselves” and/or work on solo projects, Chris and Matt are back together again for an all-new season of The Flickcast.

And to kick things off, the boys talk all-things Oscar and make some predictions about who and what will take home the gold guy during Sunday’s festivities. Plus, they take a bit of a detour through the upcoming Star Wars movies and the various casting rumors as well as the most recent installment of the Die Hard franchise.

Hopefully you won’t be too disappointed but Chris and Matt don’t make any picks this time around, mostly because they don’t know if that bit is going to continue. So that means you don’t have to link to anything this week.

However, if you do want the picks bit to continue, let us know via the comments. And, if you have any other comments or suggestions about the show, feel free to let us know that too.

Look for brand new episodes of The Flickcast right here each and every week!

The Bitcast: Episode 10 – Games of the Year: 2011

by John Carle, Jan 11 2012 // 11:15 AM

This is it. It’s the big one! Right before the New Year, we posted our awards for the best of gaming in 2011. But there was one all important award that we needed some extra time to deliberate on… The Game of the Year.

In this episode, JC and WallE forgo the usual format of the Bitcast and engage in a conversation where they, along with some input from Flickcasters Matt Raub and Cortney Zamm, decide on what game earns the coveted title of Game of the Year.

And The Nominees Are:

The Bitcast: Episode 9 ‘The Few. The Proud’

by The Flickcast, Dec 24 2011 // 11:15 AM

This week, JC & WallE get into it with their thoughts on the recent trailer reveals for The Last of Us, Fortnite, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, The Amazing Spider-Man and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. JC also gives his final edition of The Long Grind focusing on The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Don’t worry though, the Long Grind will return in 2012 with new epic games to discuss.

The Topic of the Week this week is a very special one. A few weeks ago, the Bitcast crew talked about realism in games. This week, JC had the honor of sitting down and talking to a member of the United States Marine Corps who was involved in the conflict at the Battle of Fallujah in late 2004, considered to be one of the harshest battles in modern warfare history. This marine shares his perspective on gaming, movies and television  and how it relates to his experiences. We thank this individual for his time, his service and for sharing his experiences with us.

For their Now Playing, JC gives some insight in the recent Voltron XBLA release as well as how Christmas shopping reminded him of his time playing Dead Rising while WallE talks Madden 12. The duo even gives some not so subtle hints on what games they wouldn’t mind getting for Christmas.

Don’t forget to tune in next week for the Best Games of 2011 show and make sure to follow everyone on Twitter including @theflickcast, @thebitcast, @thejohncarle & @JWWallE. Finally, don’t forget to subscribe to The Bitcast on The Flickcast iTunes feed.
