That’s right, this film should be known as being from the mind of Chris Miller and Phil Lord. The team that brought us Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and MTV’s short-lived animated series Clone High.
One could say that the film’s focus points are Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, but if you look at their track record lately, I’d be much more open to see a movie by Lord & Miller than the guys that starred in G.I. Joe and Get Him to the Greek.
The film is obviously a reboot of the classic 80s cop drama starring Johnny Depp and Richard Grieco, about two beat cops that have to go undercover in a local high school to take down the drug lords poisoning our youth.
The red band trailer is here now with tons of swearing and teen endangerment, so fun for the whole family! Check it out after the jump, and catch 21 Jump Street in theaters March 16th.

Before you flip away thinking this is just another trailer for Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster due in theaters next week, think again. This gem comes from Asylum, the studio that brought us such films as Titanic 2 and Transmorphers. That’s right, this is the official Syfy movie dedicated to the God of Thunder.
A few differentiators for this one (aside from the obvious budget) is the interesting casting for the film. Filling in for the villainous Loki is 21 Jump Street star Richard Grieco, alongside The Mummy star Patricia Velasquez and former professional wrestler Kevin Nash as Odin, king of the gods.
Those looking for a replacement for Chris Hemsworth will be met with Cody Deal as the titular thunder god. You may remember him in such shining roles as Roman Soldier at Caesar’s Palace in The Hangover or Strip Club Patron in Get Him To The Greek. Rich stuff.
Luckily for Asylum, the tale of Thor is that of mythology, so Marvel doesn’t have much legal ground here. We’ll have to see exactly how close the film plays to the comic or it’s adaptation when it hits the Syfy channel on May 7th at 9pm. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer after the jump.

Actor Andrew Koenig was found dead in Vancouver, British Columbia’s Stanley Park. Despite a three-team search-and-rescue effort that covered the park last Tuesday, his body was recovered by an independent search organized by a group of the actor’s friends Thursday. According to Koenig’s father, actor Walter Koenig, Andrew’s cause of death was suicide. Koenig’s father further said that his son suffered from depression and had stopped taking his medication. The actor had been missing since February 14.
Koenig was perhaps best known for his role as “Boner,” friend to star Kirk Cameron’s character “Mike Seaver” on the ’80s sitcom Growing Pains. The actor also appeared in various roles on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, 21 Jump Street, and My Two Dads. He was 41.
One of our favorite roles portrayed by Andrew was that of The Joker in the original fan film Batman: Dead End from 2003. Check out the video after the jump, and our thoughts go out to the Koenig family during this difficult time.

Jonah Hill (Funny People, Superbad) who has been working on an update of the 80′s television show 21 Jump Street for Sony, has announced that the movie is in negotiations to sign it’s directors. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who directed September’s Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, are potentially signing on, according to the Hollywood Reporter blog.
For the duo, who have also written for shows How I Met Your Mother, created MTV’s Clone High and Extreme Movie, this will mark their first time directing a live-action feature. Fans of Clone High may also remember Lord as the voice of the deranged Principal Scudworth.
The new version of the undercover teenagers high school drama, as described by Hill in Complex Magazine, will be “an R-rated, insane, Bad-Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie.” With Hill executive producing and probably starring, along with writer Michael Bacall, currently on the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, directed by Edgar Wright.
Hill has also gone on record saying that there is room for Johnny Depp to make a return, if he wants. This sounds like a pretty interesting project, but all I want to know is if they’re going to get Holly Robinson (Peete) back.

“We never thought we’d find a place where we belong. ” The opening words of the NAMBLA credo? No, the line sung by Holly Robinson Peete during the opening of the 21 Jump Street theme song. The one hour drama about four young cops and their radical Captain, set in an American metropolitan city, was ostensibly the launch pad for Johnny Depp’s acting career.
In 21 Jump Street, cops who looked too youthful to be taken seriously are sent to the undercover unit located in an abandoned chapel on Jump Street. There, Captain Richard Jenko (Frederic Forrest — who was replaced in later episodes by Steven Williams as Captain Fuller) preaches peace, love and Miranda warnings. With capers usually taking place in area schools, the Jump Streeters bust kids for all sorts of creative diversions like “smash and grab” robberies, stolen cars and, of course, drugs.
As the season progresses, the detectives become better friends, better at their jobs, more fearless and eventually, more likable. Judy Hoffs (Peete) is the cool and beautiful African American chick who takes Depp’s character, rookie Tom Hansen, under her bedazzled-denim-jacket-clad wing, to transform him from straight-laced polo boy to 80′s badass complete with earring and leather jacket. Peter DeLuise, son of late comedian Dom DeLuise, is Doug Penhall, a big, affable guy with a heart of gold. Rounding out this melting pot crew is Harry T. Ioki (Dustin Nguyen), a Vietnamese immigrant turned cop. In many scenes, his mullet steals the show.
