‘Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3′ Alternate Costumes Revealed

by Jonathan Weilbaecher, Nov 18 2011 // 1:30 PM

Marvel vs Capcom 3 was a fantastic game, one of the best fighters of the current console generation. Now that the updated and expanded Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has hit we have even more alternate color schemes and fantasy team match ups to play around with.

However, Capcom is not content with just letting you use different repaints to fulfill your dreams of seeing alternate versions of these characters duke it out. This week the fine folk at Capcom released images and release dates for a series of DLC costume packs that go beyond some simple color changes.

These costumes are full re-skins, giving you a chance to see fully rendered alternate versions of these characters. Instead of a simple blue and yellow Phoenix costume, for instance, we get a near exact replica of the classic Jim Lee Era Jean Grey to play with. We also can see versions of characters like the Weapon X Wolverine that is drastically different than his costumed counterpart.

Some of these packs have already been announced as pre-order bonuses from various game retailers, but many of them are being showcased here for the first time. Capcom is also very smartly making a value pack available for all 11 new costume packs as well as the 48 previous alternate costumes from the original Marvel vs Capcom 3 game.

Check out all 48 new costumes and more details on price and release dates after the jump.

SDCC11: John Carle’s Epic Comic Con Photo Gallery

by John Carle, Jul 25 2011 // 9:00 AM

Comic-Con in San Diego is great event that excites the senses like no other. The sights and sounds are unlike any others (and unfortunately, sometimes so are the smells). Those of us lucky enough to see Comic-Con in person would be remiss not to allow others the opportunities to see them as well.

From beautiful women in sexy costumes to guys decked out in full combat gear and gigantic booth displays and monstrously oversized robots, visually Comic-Con has everything. And you can’t forget the celebrities.

Where else in the world could someone see Hulk Hogan signing autographs and ten minutes later find Wonder Woman having a beer at the bar. (Wonder Woman wanted to make sure everyone knows she does not encourage underage drinking). We had some other great photo galleries during the show and now we’ve got a brand new one with a bit more epicness.

As always, we send out a special shout out to the fanboys and fangirls who spent hours of hard work creating some of the best costumes we have seen. Each year, people keep getting better and this year’s Con was proof again of that.

Take a peek below at more amazing pics from Comic-Con 2011 from San Diego.

SDCC11: Comic-Con Mega Photo Gallery – Day 1

by Heather Toshiko, Jul 21 2011 // 5:45 PM

One of the most fun things about comic to Comic-Con in San Diego is the amount of people who dress up in their favorite costumes and their favorite character from movies, TV, comics, games, manga or you name it. It’s a highlight of the week to see all the great, and not so great, costumes that people come up with to enhance their Con experience.

To help showcase a few of those people who spent their tame and money to dress up so you and the rest of the attendees could have their day brightened a little bit more, we’ve got the first of our galleries from the show.

In this one we’ve got a mix of general photos, costumes, booths and more. We hope it gives you a feel for what the Con is like.

Expect more coverage of all the festivities and, of course, a lot more pics and video as Comic-Con continues. As they say in Hollywood, we’ll be here all week.

Click through for all the pics.

SDCC10: Day One Photos!

by Erik Jensen, Jul 23 2010 // 5:00 PM

img_0756One of the great traditions of San Diego Comic-Con are the huge numbers of attendees who come dressed in costume. Whether inspired by anime or manga characters, to super-heroes, to movie characters, Con-goers really get into it via their elaborate costumes.

The Flickcast team braved the crowds down on the show floor on Day 1 to bring you just a sample of what we saw. So take a look at our day one gallery and keep checking back for more photos from the Con.

Check out all the exciting photos after the jump. The photos are what make Comic-Con special and these folks have traveled sometimes hundreds or even thousands of miles to be at the Con and dress as their favorite character. So, we like to encourage them by highlighting their pictures here.

Be sure to keep it right here for all your Comic-Con news, interviews, photos and more direct from San Diego.

Anime Expo 2010 XTRA: Video Highlights

by Chris Ullrich, Jul 10 2010 // 9:00 AM

Often events happen that we can’t get to cover extensively or at all. This year that dubious honor fell on Anime Expo in Los Angeles. As much as we might have wanted to go there and show you everything from the expo we have Comic-Con to plan for and that has to take presidence.

Fortunately, we’ve got friends. And one of those friends, SamProof, went to the expo and shot a lot of video, cut it together and we’ve got it for you today. We think it captures the essence of Anime Expo and helps us get over (mostly) the fact that we couldn’t be there this year.

Check out the video after the jump. For more from our pal SamProof, head on over to his site.

PAX East: Our Favorite Cosplayers

by Cortney Zamm, Apr 2 2010 // 1:00 PM

Well, we’ve had a good week, but things are finally calming down after last weekend’s PAX East convention. We’ve been bringing you coverage of the show since Monday with details on Nintendo’s newest hand-held device, our first impressions on the upcoming Puzzle Quest 2 game, some of our favorite games from the show, and some info on some great new technology coming up in the near future.

With that said, there’s only one more element of the con that we haven’t touched on, which happens to be everyone’s favorite part. I’m talking about Cosplayers, of course! And there was certainly no shortage of them at this year’s PAX East. Inspired by their favorite videogame badasses, the attendees at this con were definitely dressed to impress.

There were some goodies, such as this guy dressed as Nathan Fillion’s “Captain Hammer”, and some less inspired. Check them out after the jump, and be sure to keep it here for future con coverage coming up in 2010!

Big Apple Comic Con: Photo Recap

by Matt Raub, Oct 19 2009 // 12:00 PM

wizardworld_2077_84240766This past weekend marked the very first year for Wizard World’s Big Apple Comic Con. Though some may be confused, this show has nothing to do with New York Comic Con, nor the legendary San Diego Comic-Con. This is a new brand established by Wizard, which has been making waves across the country in places like Boston, Anaheim, and Chicago.

This past weekend was quite interesting in terms of turn-out for a first year show. Friday was OK, but Saturday and Sunday had a fair share of fanboys and fangirls roaming the con floor. You can always tell how good a con is by the amount of costumed heroes and heroines, and you can see for yourself after the jump, that they all came out of the woodwork for the show.

There wasn’t much to be said about programming. There were maybe a dozen panels over the three day period, most of which were just Q&A’s with names like Jim Lee, Joe Quesada, or William Shatner. There was also a fair amount of celebrity presence at the show, at least more than other NYC shows. Many names like Michael Hogan of Battlestar Galactica, Miracle Laurie of Dollhouse and even Billy Dee Williams were in attendance, and we even got a few one-on-one interviews with them to bring you later on.

For now, check out a photo recap of this weekend after the jump.

Big Apple Comic Con Photos: Costumes & Booths!

by Matt Raub, Oct 16 2009 // 1:30 PM

DSC02563This weekend marks the beginning of Wizard’s very first Big Apple Comic Convention happening in Midtown Manhattan, and though the weather may not be as nice, that hasn’t stopped fanboys and fangirls from donning their tights and making their way through the harsh city cold.

The Flickcast will be covering the show all weekend long, with interviews and breaking news as it comes to us, but we thought we’d start it off with a few simple preview pics of the show itself.

Tickets are still available, so if you’re in the New York area, be sure to stop by Pier 94 (55th and 12th) all weekend long to get a peek at what could be NYC’s next big comic convention! Check out our first bunch of pics from today’s show after the jump!

SDCC Photos: More Costumes and ‘Booth Babes’

by Chris Ullrich, Jul 25 2009 // 6:15 PM

boothbabesDo over one hundred thousand people make a trip every year to San Diego just because they love comics, movies, TV, games and all things geek? Maybe. Do they come because they love standing in line for hours or days to see five minutes of a movie that won’t come out for six months or longer? Possibly.

Even with all those great reasons, they’re one more reason that geeks flock to San Diego every year: girls. Like all things geek, if it doesn’t have a little bit of T and A or at the very least the potential for some, we might not make the trip.

Take a peek at some of the booth babes we’ve encountered so far during this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. Find all the photos after the jump.
